Here are steps to follow to get your DJI Mavic Pro Quadcopter with Remote Controller calibrated, and in the air. Once you arrive at your flight location, the first thing you need to do is take a look at your pre-flight checklist. Having a checklist will help you become a more responsible, and safer, pilot. Go down the list. Start with everything charged and check the battery levels. Now secure the props. Make sure you have plenty of space on the micro SD card. You don’t want to run out of room in the air right before an epic shot. Make sure you’re in a wide-open area and outside of any no-fly zone. If you launch the DJI Go-4 app in a no-fly zone, it’ll warn you to move. Steer clear of people and trees. So practice in wide open spaces before you try complicated maneuvers. Most people crash their drones because they become disoriented in the air. Now it’s time to set up and calibrate. Turn on the remote controller and connect it to your mobile device. Start the app, then turn on the Mavic Pro. The app will likely warn you that you need to calibrate, so tap on the warning and choose Calibrate. Pick up the Maverick Pro and rotate it in a circle counterclockwise, until the light changes to green, then point the camera straight down and spin it again 360 degrees. If your indicator lights flash green quickly, then you’ve successfully calibrated the drone. Set the Mavic Pro down on a flat surface and wait until the status bar in your app turns green. Then you can start the motors by pressing both joysticks down and towards the inner part of the circles. Your props will start to spin. Then, with the left stick, push up and the drone will lift off the ground. Once you’re in the air, don’t forget to start recording video of your first flight. Move the right stick up and down, and left and right, to get a feel for the drone’s response to your commands. Once you feel acquainted with the drone, landing can be accomplished in two ways. The first is by pressing the Return to Home button. The drone knows where it took off from. It’ll return to that start point and land itself. Smart drone. The second way you can land is via the left joystick. By pulling it all the way back slowly, the drone will lower to the ground. When it touches the ground, hold the left stick back until the motors shut off. Once you have your first flight under your belt, you can begin practicing cool camera moves while flying and exploring the other modes the DJI Mavic Pro, now available at Bestbuy.com, has to offer.
