You da man. 3D printers simply amaze me.
Andre, how mich to make me a set of clips for the mini? Thanks Car’n
GREAT JOB CAPT AND ANDRE
BTW on th Anafi Support site they have a 3d model of the drone which allows you to design your own accessories ๐ next level stuff ๐
Mavic Mini: where to get files to print to hold the propellers?
Very cool, the future keeps turning up on the doorstep ๐
Hi, nice printer.
Where did you get the coordinates for printing drones accessories?
Thanks
Dear Captain Drone…. there is no escape !! I have just purchased a 3D printer, why I don’t really know, to make bits for my drone (EVO 1 and 2) I guess, and it was comparatively cheap, it turns out to be the same as this one and what do I find when searching for it… your good self who I have been watching your drone videos for quite some time… who would have thought it, I’ve come in where you started with this… please tell me it gets simpler and you never gave up, or do you have a multi-head all singing dancing one now…. drones and 3D printers… what next is the path we follow…. ? any tips…. Cheers
Nice
A couple of tips for beginning printers.
1) Trial and Error is part of the game. Especially the first few prints you’ll need to keep an eye on it. Set it and forget it
2) Start small before going big. Test print a small version of larger prints. It’s a way to troubleshoot without burning hours at a time.
3) Make sure the printer is in a well ventilated area. It melts plastic and that process creates some fumes. plan accordingly.
Steve itโs more critical if you slam a door or have creaky floorboards while the printer is working mine is accurate to one sixthw of a millimeter so you have to be careful with an open one more so they are fun
Looks like I will be getting a 3D printer…Anet A8. Looks like a very popular printer. Thanx…
Big like DRO
this was a good look it take you out of your comfort zone
Youโre like s big kid and I love it! Live life ๐
Oh man….this is super AWESOME.โผ…โจ๐ซ๐ป
I seen multiple DJI Inspire 3D printed clones. Even the gimbal was 3d printed. Obviously it’s missing all the software magic the official product has but it’s impressive. I want to try an extra thin carbon fiber filament layer and skin it with Carbon Fiber. Not sure if it’s practical but even if it doesn’t result in lighter weight, dyi carbon fiber is cheap enough now to experiment with.
Unbelievable what can be done with these 3D printers. Thanks Steve, very interesting.
If only, love one
Do u know if anyone is selling those mini prop guards online?
Bonus points for Road Id… nice printer…
You and JD Quad are killing me!! I so want one and this one looks like it can be used and then moved out of the way! ARRRRRGH! That was a BIG hurdle for me and now you seem to have eliminated that obstacle. Now the biggest hurdle is convincing Miss Sarah Bly Davis that we could benifit from having yet another toy. Yeah, that’s not gonna fly right now. Thanks for showing me this great looking 3D printer.
Thanks for this great video. I was about to order this item through the Amazon Web site that you suggest but I changed my mind upon reading a customer’s review that revealed quite a few problems with this printer. I wonder why Andre did not bring any of the problems listed below to your attention, Captain Drone: Take the time to read it:. Excerpts from Amazon:.The good and the bad. Lots of potential if I can get some issues resolved.
UPDATE:
I’m leaving my review at 3 stars, here is why:
1) Tech support does want to be helpful… and for some questions they have been helpful. However, be aware that if you really want help, you best not ask 2 questions in the same email, because the first one will get answered and the next one will not.
2) I gave up getting the issues resolved on my first printer, bought a second and it did not have all the issues.
3) I have lubricated my printer (both of them) very well, but they both screech so loudly when the z-axis is at about 50%. I can hear it from the other side of the house.
4) There are NO instructions on how to do automated bed leveling. I asked support for assistance and they showed me where the part goes, but not how to use it. People in forums (including a guy who modified Marlin 2.0 to run successfully on it) have not been able to figure it out.
5) There appears to be no place to mount the filament break detector, unless you 3d print a mount from thingiverse or make your own.
6) XY belts are not parallel everywhere.
That all being said, Tech support really did seem to want to help. Perhaps, part of it is a language barrier, but they seem to insist on getting a video to help…. even if the problem doesn’t require a video. I understand where they are coming from, but sometimes a simple answer will do.
I did get the second printer working and so far, it has been running okay. Err7 (temperature issue) plagued me for a bit and seems to be a common issue. Some people have resolved it with a new config file (but then I noticed more drift), some by doing a PID auto tune, some by installing Marlin 2.0 (I haven’t been able to get it working on mine yet).

Right now, I’m at 3 stars, but I think that will improve after I work with customer service. I say work with customer service because I wrote them… and they responded… but I don’t have a response to all my questions yet. The printer appears to be very well built, and overall, I think it has the potential to be a super printer. Here’s my pros, cons, issues, etc:
Pros:
– Very strong structure.
– Reasonable size
– Seems very stable
– Very nice first print
– Very well packaged!
Cons:
– Maybe, over time, this will run better than my other belt driven printers, but I hate belts (I love the Kodama printer / Panowin printer — except for the small size)
– I was really hoping for a square printer without parts external to the structure. In this one, the extruder motor is on the outside of the structure.
– I don’t care for the tension relief in the wires coming out of the extruder hot end. The wires bend a bit too much. To feel more comfortable with it, I will need to print a part to extend the top a bit to grab the wires in one more place.
– It took quite a while to put together and decipher some of the directions. It wasn’t quite minimal assembly… and yet many pieces were assembled.
– I prefer direct drive to Bowden drive, but time will tell.
Issues:
– I see a plastic gear in the extruder. I HATE PLASTIC GEARS!!!!!!!!!!
– The instructions start good, but miss several steps (I did find a video build on the included disk)โฆ I didn’t notice it until after I was done. However, even it leaves out steps. There are three items I don’t know where to mount (1) The filament break detector (2) The ‘automatic sensor (3) one of the three heatsinks
– Unfortunately, I have 2 areas on the z axis that screech…. as well as a extremely severe vibration noise at some point in the warm up. I haven’t figured out why yet.
– There are no instructions on how to get up and running with the software. There are some install files and a configuration file. Due to all the other issues, I haven’t had time to investigate and figure it out yet.
– Did I mention plastic gears are HORRIBLE?
If I can get these issues resolved, this will be a fantastic printer.
Hi! The DJI Mavic Mini prop protector (bottom one) where is that design from? I havn’t been able to trace down the STL file for that one, so a link would be appreciated!

Have been working 3D printing for little over three years. This is a nice high level view of the product. From my experience, the learning curve is pretty steep and be prepared at times to toss the machine out the door. This is an FDM style of 3D printer that extrudes melted plastic onto a heated plate, one of the best FDM printers out today is Snapmaker, which also gives you the ability to change printing heads and use CNC head for wood carving, laser head for burning images and a laser cutting head to cut the 3D images out of products. . Another technology that is coming into maturity is an SLA 3D printer that uses UV light to cure liquid resin. If interested in learning about 3D printing, there are many good channels on YouTube that reviews 3D printers and printing much like this channel does for Drones. One of the best ones on YouTube is Maker’s Muse.. If interested, go check them out. This maybe alot of information for a Drone review channel, but thought I would throw it out there.
