Great video man. I just got my Part 107 a few months back and I’ve been doing real estate photography. I really would love to get into this type of drone work. Do you have any suggestions or advice on how I can do this? Thank you so much for this video! It explained the gist of it perfectly. Gratefully, Cris R.

Great Video… you really break it down well… quick question… I’m in the final stages of my licensing, and would like to open my own business… how much did your total set up cost…. drone, rover, base…etc. I know it wasn’t cheap…

Besides a 107 certification what other education and certification do you need to have a job like that?

  8. Edward Robison on August 30, 2021 at 10:21 pm

Exceptional video!!! I do a lot of photogrammetry and was curious about high quality lidar. The accuracy and tree penetration is amazing! Also, as a cinematographer I really appreciated the work you put into making this a high quality video and interesting to watch. Thanks!

Amazing work!! how much is this lidar equipment? looks really small… really good!

  21. Steve Long on August 30, 2021 at 10:35 pm

Thanks for the great informational video. This is a great first video for creating interest in the field of Surveying. The tech available these days is amazing compared to when I graduated with my degree in 1983 from PSU. I’m going to use this with generating interest in the field of surveying among high school kids. We are a dying profession-the average age of the professional surveyor in US is somewhere in the upper 50’s which says we are aging out.

Great video! How is LiDAR able to see through the trees and get accurate elevations of the ground?

  23. Zook Online Media LLC on August 30, 2021 at 10:37 pm

Loved your video! I wish I could find someone to survey an island I own in Florida with this technology. If you know anyone using this tech in central Florida I would like to contact them. If you want to go to Disney World, let me know and bring your drone. LOL

Couple things, first and foremost I love the channel name. Being a huge Indiana Jones fan and a fellow sloot that rocks the Indy hat on the site while fantasizing I’m finding the lost arc everytime I set my rod up on a point the name hit a special spot in my heart. Second, were you using your cell phone as a data collector?

  25. Daniele Franceschini on August 30, 2021 at 10:38 pm

great video, thanks. how do you insert contour lines in google earth?

  26. Louie Jake on August 30, 2021 at 10:39 pm

What software do you use to process the lidar data

  27. Ernesto Cutiño on August 30, 2021 at 10:40 pm

how can I use this tech to measure pole heights ????

  28. Rick Marshall on August 30, 2021 at 10:40 pm

On your software are you able to pick the values for the contours? We have a customer looking for 10′ contours. Are you able to do that with the software or are you always using the same 1′, 5′, and 25′ coutours?

  29. Miguel Manning on August 30, 2021 at 10:40 pm

Do you work for a company or do you do consulting on your own?

Doing something like this would be awesome. I’m a masters student in geography and I teach a GNSS class where I teach students about these basic principles of surveying and GPS.

How does one get into a position to do what you do?

  30. PISQUE1969 Francis on August 30, 2021 at 10:43 pm

I have one question … your landing looked a little tenuous … do you ever have your drone, with all the aboard equipment, fall over. If you do, does any of the equipment have to be recertified?

  31. g d on August 30, 2021 at 10:43 pm

do u have a drone with a capability to see what underground for around 50 feet or 120 feet ??

    Are you flying autonomous?

  36. THANIN CHAN on August 30, 2021 at 10:50 pm

It is the great sharing of Lidar technology. How far the operation range from the base to drone? Do you use RKT mode or PPK?

  37. Martin on August 30, 2021 at 10:56 pm

    Very good detailed video

  38. Danny Fisk on August 30, 2021 at 10:57 pm

I find this to be such a cool field and would love to do this one day since I’m super passionate about flying drones and would love to make it into a living. How does one go about getting started in this industry?

Very cool video I have watched it a few times! As you mention, the GCP’s are much more accurate than Google but how accurate would they be to a datum for engineering purposes? Want to try it out for my business

  50. R. patrick Craig on August 30, 2021 at 11:08 pm

what does all that gear cost? I’d love to do this for large commercial jobs versus waiting on surveys
