This Drone Startup Is Beating Amazon at Deliveries

Oct. 5 — If you’re wondering what the future of shopping will be like, look no further than the outskirts of Reno, where a little startup called Flirtey is working on delivering packages to doorsteps with drones. They have a partnership with convenience store chain 7-Eleven and are experimenting first with over-the-counter medications to save parents with sick children a late-night run to the store. But the drone deliveries are made in insulated boxes, so a chili dog and slurpee dropping from the sky to your home is within reach.

If they fly under The hundred foot height limit that a balloon has then I would think they’d have to follow the highways like any other form of transportation delivery and that should keep them out of people’s backyards except for the delivery. maybe. Above 100 ft they’re just like airplanes FAA gets that one.

Couple it with autonomous freight truck trains and this drone service and you got what I bet Amazon is after. Are they making a profit yet?

Probably talk about beating when you can sell and deliver at Amazon scale, and free delivery for all prime members without dropping quality of services, and don’t go bankruptcy.

  42. Trussy Paul on April 5, 2021 at 1:31 am

Try delivering through a force 8 hooley in north west England in November, dodging the trees into postage stamp sized back yards. Easy in the desert 🙄

Yea, but no. Thousands of homes in my town are totally invisible because of lots of big trees. Imagine drones delivering here… I don’t think that’s a very good idea.
