No difference, its all about the money! They don’t realize that you can make "X" amount of money a year before it becomes a business. For all the Tourists going to South Africa, "The SACAA does not make any provisions for foreign operators at this time. This means that foreigners may not legally bring nor operate a RPAS/drone in South African airspace, regardless of the weight and size of the RPAS/drone. If you do, it may be considered illegal by local authorities.” Tell me I am reading this right?

Its quite funny…you can fly your drone and take a photo of your uncles guest house for free…but if you charge your uncle for the photo even after the fact its intention was free, then you did it illegal and need a licence.

    Awesome!!!! Drones are the future!!

  11. Brett Strydom on August 14, 2022 at 8:46 pm

People in the states don’t need to fly under an ROC….why do we in SA have to? This is clearly a money-making scheme without a doubt! Why must I share my income with another company when I perform jobs for money with my drone?

  12. ArneBergsch on August 14, 2022 at 8:48 pm

So, when I use my Mavic as a hobbyist tourist in SA, that would be legal, right?

Lol, gosh why don’t we first get our drivers license issues sorted out, there’s so many people who are not capable drivers actually posing a threat on our roads, daily!

  18. Nathan Albers on August 14, 2022 at 9:01 pm

The rules are rediculous! you cant even fly racing drones without breaking at least half the rules in one flight
