  3. John Kidnay on August 9, 2022 at 7:54 pm

Great information! Being a recreational flyer, both RC aircraft and drones, I can see that the benefits of having a part 107 license. Will definitely be using the Alien Drones discount to take the class offered by Pilot Institute. Knowing all the rules will help me to stay within the FAA requirements. Thanks for providing this very informative video.

  7. PlotShots on August 9, 2022 at 7:57 pm

Keith, I was hoping you might be able to do an informational video for us Part 61 pilots who want to get a Part 107 add-on license. I, for example, am an airline pilot (ATP – MEL) with over 10,000 flight hours, but I am having difficulty in finding out what to do besides the “TRUST” completion certificate, registering your drone, and getting the Cert of Achievement for “Part 107 Small Uas Initial – Part 61 Pilots”. Do I have to do an IACRA application in addition to the aforementioned certificates? There’s very little intuitive guidance. Thanks in advance!

  8. Melvie Davis on August 9, 2022 at 7:58 pm

I live in Panama I am retired and recreational flying my drone but need insurance were do I get it and in English

  11. C 59 on August 9, 2022 at 8:00 pm

I’m getting that I need to get a 107. My intent in many flights is to take aerials of public places to post to Google, so that people may have a good idea of what an area looks like.

Even though I’m doing it for fun, there’s more to it than that.

  12. Tim Colton on August 9, 2022 at 8:01 pm

    Very good – Thank You

  13. P. D on August 9, 2022 at 8:02 pm

A 107 certificate does NOT help,
just like a driver license doesn’t when you get through a red light.
Here is one: I obtained my helicopter & SEL pilot license in my younger years, do I still have to take the 107 ?
Like a truck driver needs a license for a moped….

  14. Hacked Robot on August 9, 2022 at 8:04 pm

Drones are so tiny, I can’t see it beyond 80 ft. !

  15. John H on August 9, 2022 at 8:09 pm

P107 really just for making money and makes feds aware of you.

  16. Profitable Opportunities on August 9, 2022 at 8:10 pm

What is meant by "near an airport"? A reasonable person would think that 1 mile away from an airport is not considered "near". When you or Greg says "near an airport", what is that distance?

  17. Angelita Van pelt on August 9, 2022 at 8:13 pm

I just plying my dji air 2s today at the river and I just got the permit so my question is that part of 107? I’m a little confused.

  19. Desert Adventures in Arizona on August 9, 2022 at 8:14 pm

I bought a DJI Mini 1 about 18 months ago and as I researched how and where to fly, I learned that I could get in big trouble! I found Pilot Institute, took their course and passed my 107 test. As a Utube creator, I run into other creators who fly drones, try to educate them and suggest they take a course. Thanks guys!

  20. Alien Drones on August 9, 2022 at 8:17 pm

  21. Misfiredfinesse on August 9, 2022 at 8:18 pm

if i am circling a mountain or building does that fall under BVLOS? if the drone is exactly opposite to object that i am recording?

  22. Richie Bricker on August 9, 2022 at 8:21 pm

Owning a drone makes me a criminal. I am registered. federal law prohibits a central registry of firearms owned by private citizens. About 40% of Americans say they or someone in their household owns a gun, Who should be tracked by satellite, the people with fun flying cameras or those firing 900 5oz pieces of metal per second for up to 2 miles from an M4 assault rifle? Thats past "Line of Sight" and no spotter needed. You can shoot over people and at night. You dont need a $200 license to post a video of you shooting your neighbors roof. BECAUSE OF SAFETY? GOVERNMENT OVERREACH? Recreational drones haver NEVER killed anybody. This makes no sense. It only shows that the US government is allowed to make laws against the Constitution. Why? simply to get alot of us to pay em $200 every 2 yrs and to keep the working poor from having any hobby that doesnt help the Rifle Association. Maybe we should just take a background check before buying a new drone

  23. Akath Lawless on August 9, 2022 at 8:21 pm

Recreation rules should be off the table. 107 is o e and only rule for all. This conversation is a waste of man hrs and utube time. Take a car as an example you need a license, registration and insurance. This rule applies to all. You can not drive without a license right? Why waste time have recreational concept operations rules. One rule, 107 is expected for equal piloting field. There are serious risks if accidents occur on any drones. Drones will cause the same damge, fatalities to airlines and passengers. Due diligence is require by applying 107. No need for Recreation accepting. We need to rattle abusers. This whole process is safety measure at a single level with paramount signature of accountability.

Great info! Just what I was looking for. I will be using Pilot Institue for my 107 training…also you have a new subscriber 😀

  25. Hubsan RC Productions on August 9, 2022 at 8:22 pm

Blame it on the idiots who flew their drones over airports and flying them into people! THEY are the ones that ruined the fun for everyone in this hobby!

  26. Timmy Drones on August 9, 2022 at 8:23 pm

100 off I might take this discount thanks 🙏

  27. Greg Gewickey on August 9, 2022 at 8:26 pm

How can you shoot the football game recreationally? Isn’t it flying over people?

  28. Jeffrey Spaulding on August 9, 2022 at 8:29 pm

Keith. There seems to be a lot of talk on the FAA drone zone about conferences and meetings about new VLOS. Any new and updated rules you can do a video on? It’s been quite some time since the last “rule” update video.

  29. Misfiredfinesse on August 9, 2022 at 8:29 pm

what if my friend fly’s it above 400 ft? who gets penalized?

  30. Antonio The Realtor on August 9, 2022 at 8:30 pm

I’m a Realtor who want to take photos of Drone footage of the homes I sale. Do I need a Part 107 for this? I am not being paid for the photography. I would traditionally hire someone to do this. I’m doing it to save money and just use on my Social Media to advertise the property.

  31. sinout044 on August 9, 2022 at 8:30 pm

So you guys are saying 107 you can fly at night but isn’t it true you can only fly 30 minutes before and after sunset and sunrise?

  32. Clint Patac on August 9, 2022 at 8:30 pm

I live within SFRA DC. With a DJI mini, could I fly if I keep it below 200 ft? And I fly it over 20 miles outside the heart of DC?

  33. Ricardo Rolón on August 9, 2022 at 8:31 pm

    107.39 Operation over human beings.
No person may operate a small unmanned aircraft over a human being unless—

    (a) That human being is directly participating in the operation of the small unmanned aircraft;

    (b) That human being is located under a covered structure or inside a stationary vehicle that can provide reasonable protection from a falling small unmanned aircraft; or

    (c) The operation meets the requirements of at least one of the operational categories specified in subpart D of this part.

so if you are in futbol game, this doesn’t mean that you can fly over the people.

  34. INTELMAXELL MULTI-ROTORS on August 9, 2022 at 8:33 pm

Can you explain the sub 250 class when flying over people. Do you need a 107 with a sub 250 over people? Also ….cars was not a big deal as long as you are not hovering over them. Safer when you fly continuously over traffic like planes do. Thanks

  35. Daniel Nash on August 9, 2022 at 8:34 pm

Don’t forget that even if you are 107 certified, you may still need to get a commercial license with your state along with register your drone with your state – more fees, unfortunately.

  36. Timmy Drones on August 9, 2022 at 8:35 pm

I didn’t know anything about maps. It was like two years ago and failed with 67 missed two questions I thought I went back too. Think it was when the test was updated

  37. Armando Ramirez on August 9, 2022 at 8:36 pm

Wow, there are actually haters that call FAA to report others.. How low humans can fall..

  38. Akath Lawless on August 9, 2022 at 8:37 pm

Pilot Institute, must steer your customers to 107 and disturb your pilots with recreation process rules which have the same risks as professionals. Why let those recreation pilots slide who will more likely have more excuses then fairy tale stories. Creating too many questions for no reasons when questions can only be differ to 107 discussions.

  39. Marke Bedwell on August 9, 2022 at 8:38 pm

A lot of what tha guy was saying is not true now you can fly over people if they are aware and consent and you can fly from a moving car or boat with a recreational certification.

  40. Kim Fyffe 2 Drone Videos on August 9, 2022 at 8:38 pm

Where do I go to take the 107 test do I have to make a time to go ?

  41. Gil Sanders on August 9, 2022 at 8:39 pm

I really need my part 107. Been putting it off for a while, and now I think it’s time. Thanks for the inspiring video.

  44. Michael Cooper Media on August 9, 2022 at 8:39 pm

    Just some feedback,
Audio was rough! Music was too loud, and the audio levels between you and the guest speaker were way off.

  45. Drone Pilot Bob on August 9, 2022 at 8:40 pm

One thing that was not covered when you do decide to get the 107 you’re registering yourself not just with the FAA but the government now knows how to tax you on income that you make with your drone I am dead against the 107 for that reason I agree with safety I think it’s wonderful but I’ve been videotaping real estate for over 10 years with drones I will never tell people how much I make and I put it on YouTube make it private send the link to the realtor the realtor sends the link then to someone who wants to buy the property looking at the video and the sale is complete I make my hundred dollars per video and I’ve been doing it for over 10 years no 107 not about to get a 107 because the government is not taxing me yet again on my hard earned money bottom line 107 doesn’t interest me but I love your videos

  46. Rad Reeling Fishing on August 9, 2022 at 8:40 pm

Does a 107 certificate have to be renewed?

  47. resonantfrequency7125 on August 9, 2022 at 8:41 pm

But he sells training. That is not an ipso facto non biased opinion one way or the other.

  48. tommy williams on August 9, 2022 at 8:44 pm

I am confused. Watched "representative from FAA in
Flying Drones Over People and Vehicles FAA Ruling… is it Legal? the Interview
state flying over people is available to recreational flyers as long as in compliance with rule yet here states it is not?? The rule is not for recreational flyers. Just trying my best to know rules and what I may not be in compliance with.

  49. Clark Linehan on August 9, 2022 at 8:45 pm

I’m a commercial photographer who is getting requests from clients about do I have drone capability. Nothing crazy so far, but just starting to investigate options. Thanks for a great intro to most of the questions I had about requirements. It’s pretty obvious I’d have to get a 107 in order to do anything.

  50. Bill on August 9, 2022 at 8:51 pm

Hi i have listend to many video on faa ect rules ect …and I want to first say I alway follow the laws …but some are quite this one ….he say the faa maine goal is saftey ..well what does saftey have to do with.someone asking you to take a pic of the church baseball game …if your monetize on it …i call that 107 rule for drones BS is all about government overreach….If you follow common sense rules lawed out the FAA has their no reason on my opinion to have additional rules for someone just having fun…if you making money with it maybe
Look up the meaning of recreational….the FAA references that term alot in this video…if they did they change …
    Happy flying everyone
