The Royal Air Force Reaper drones are on the frontline in the fight against terrorism. The crew manning the drones have been involved in targeting so-called Islamic State fighters, monitoring their every move over both Iraq and Syria. The Reaper drones fly from and over the Middle East, but they are controlled by two RAF squadrons thousands of miles away. We spoke to the crews who operate the aircraft from Lincolnshire.

Months of watching a farmer to see if he’s a terrorist or not. Seems kind of a waste..
Instead have half a dozen of these or so, -armed and in the air, for any and all ground operations for active ISR and fire support.
Its funny how this is so new on the scale of things that they still make these guys wear flight suits .they were also requiring the pilots of drones to be actual pilots ,this is a stupid rule that is now being changed in the us military and probably will be in the uk.i mean why would you spend all that money to train a real pilot with all the expense of fuel and ground crews and maintenance when a person with good computer gaming experience could be trained to do just as good a job .
The next giant leap is going to be fighter drones,this will allow airforces to buy 10 drones for the price of 1 manned fighter .they will be much faster ,more agile and fly with AI integrated. This is coming in the next 6-10 years but my huess is the usa already have them .
Imagine joining the raf just to become a drone pilot
