THIS IS MY FULL TIME JOB. Here are other ways that you can support me: https://www.fpvknowitall.com/support-me/

In this video, you’ll learn how to install your props correctly. You’ll identify the top and bottom of the prop, then the leading and trailing edge. Then you’ll find the motor direction and install the correct prop for the direction the motor is spinning.

My video about the advantages of props in vs. out is:

when you said "hello geginners" I write this comment and never gonna watch this viedeo again.

  2. Cali FPV on August 5, 2022 at 8:02 pm

Do I use beta flight, if my motors spin out and I want to change them to inwards?

  3. Squeak-PV on August 5, 2022 at 8:03 pm

And you just saved me a potentially crashed maiden flight. Thanks!

  4. Ryan Dalton on August 5, 2022 at 8:03 pm

So funny I’m trying to do this right in my new nazgul5 4s

  5. SuperBlarg on August 5, 2022 at 8:04 pm

Thanks for all the helpful videos and reviews. How do you change props that are tight?… eg. Cinelog25 with Gemfan D63 props are really tight to press on and I don’t want to wreck the motor. Do you ream out the inner hole? Do you balance your props or assume the screws that hold the props on will center the prop well enough? Thanks!

  6. Jay. vb on August 5, 2022 at 8:06 pm

    Haha I feel dumb

  7. Jdrones on August 5, 2022 at 8:07 pm

Doubt you’ll read this, but know that almost 2 years later, this video was still relevant for me. Thanks for the help!

Thanks saved a drone, it Flys now, had props on wrong

  10. KTM BIKES on August 5, 2022 at 8:10 pm

Ha Ha ha ha Conservation of momentum lol Wrong again… Thats not how things fly, you know alot about drones but nothing about how flight actually works.

  11. PeeShay Webb on August 5, 2022 at 8:12 pm

Just swapped my first set of props… you know why I’m here lol

  12. Styles Extraordinaire on August 5, 2022 at 8:12 pm

I was emailing with a Tech at GetFPV, he said, "You should check out Joshua Bardwell’s Channel", You and DroneCamps were the main "experts" I consulted to get into FPV which led me to GetFPV… "the Circle of Life"… lol.

  13. reckonsin on August 5, 2022 at 8:13 pm

6:27 no no no no no no. lol. I don’t know why but this made me literally laugh out loud. Thanks for your video Joshua. I just ordered your version of the run cam Phoenix 2 And I am very excited. Wanting to fly at dusk more often because it is super hot to fly outside in Florida during the day right now.

  14. Paolo Lekai on August 5, 2022 at 8:13 pm

Wish I saw this last week. Had to troubleshoot changing props for the first and my quad not taking off after replacing them 😅

Joshua, you are a legend. Thank you good sir for all the amazing info to get me up and running with FPV 👊🏻

  15. Daniel Rossbach on August 5, 2022 at 8:13 pm

Hey guys, I just bought a Protek35 and people write you could reduce the crazy prop noize by using 8blade props instead of 3blade props.
Do you have to make adjustments in the flight controller too? I figure 8blades create more thrust at the same rpms and pose more resistance to the motors, no?

  16. Jimmy yanuar annas on August 5, 2022 at 8:14 pm

    Nice explanation..

  17. Matel on August 5, 2022 at 8:14 pm

How tight should you tighten the prop?

  18. M T on August 5, 2022 at 8:15 pm

How tight do you tighten your props?

  24. derfmuff on August 5, 2022 at 8:21 pm

i thought the top of the prop is the blade back and the bottom of the prop the blade face.

  25. pistolpistol100 on August 5, 2022 at 8:22 pm

I just recently discovered, the hard way that having out of balance propellers on a quad cause the motors to get super hot(like way too hot to even touch) and have probably somewhat destroyed them and put crazy unnecessary stress on my flight stack.

  26. Cons2911 on August 5, 2022 at 8:24 pm

So some props uses hex screws and not the usual nut?

  27. Lonnie James on August 5, 2022 at 8:25 pm

  28. Sir Ahmad Greazy on August 5, 2022 at 8:26 pm

hey man. look. im new to the drone thing.. kinda.. ibought my first camera drone in July 2020…it was a snaptain sc sumtin.. like $50.. i got it to learn the basic mechanics… still got it by the way…2 days later, was ready to get another. this time was a Potensic. paid $200.. week later crashed it never recovered.. immediately purchaased another next day shipping $250. this time it was a JJRC.. This was frickin dope to fly…had it 2 weeks…LITERALLY…..flying at home and a F**##NG OWL swooped it, it came tumbling down instantly and stuck in a high as f*ck tree.. Where it stayed for almost a month by the way..,. but the same day it got assaulted by this monstrous owl, i went back to Amazing Amazon, and purchased a Potensic (Bugz Type) $275. pretty awesome drone by the way.. Now this one i had for about 3 weeks when………smh…. The same culprit struck again on a very nice sunny day..In front of my family and neighbors, i witnessed the deadly fall from the sky, of my beloved Cam Drone. picked it up, IMMIDIATELY went to old reliable Awesome Amazon, and ordered the EXACT SAME drone. of courtse it arrives the next day, and back at it….Now…i still have this drone, but it has underwent some surgery and transplants …if u will.. i kept the old one and used that for parts if i needed them, in which i ultimately did.. my lil doggie (Rio) likes to bark and try to beat my drone upon takeoff all the time.. its his thing.. he tries to watch from the porch and when he hears the beeps, he takes off and tries to get it before i speedily take off, missing him just shy of a feww inches EVERYTIME…….Well………U guessed it..He caught dat ass one day.. and the beloved Potensic speratically tried to take off, flipping and falling with props shredding away and the back right engine burnt out.. So instead of burying it….i salvaged the parts just in case of another assault or homicide by another animal. and it came in handy. So, being already committed by more than a thousand dollars in a month alone on drones, i decided to go up to ther next klevel of FPV QUAD RACERS. now…the first one i purchased was a tinyhawk 2 rtf kit.. i got it for $375..No..NOT from amazon..they didnt have the kit available for the next day…ONLY REASON I DIDNT GET IT FROM THEM. i had that quad for 2 weeks WITHOUT IT EVEN LEAVING THE GROUND.. IT wouldnt fly..respond from transmitter. when it did it did nothing..so i sent it back and got the hubsan bumblebee lookin one. h22d i think.. it was ok, but not the extra lil "umph" i was seeking.. i never got to use the fpv goggles bevause the right motor stopped after 3 days of use…..so, yup i purchased my own seperate goggles… the EACHINE EV100.. THEY ARRIVE TOMMOROW. But i recieved the Mantis 85m with a FLYSKY FS-I6..Thats my starter kit to try and get this rigfht. i love the idea, thought, and visualization of flying quads. its a hobby that i TRULY EWANT TO DO AND tying,m replacing props, or everything other than actually flying and enjoying some genuine good quality fpvFEEL I WILL BENEFIT GREATLY IF I COULD JUST GET THE SHIT RIGHT….IM SORT OF "STREET N*GG*" and have a sketchy past, however i refrained from my old lifestyle year ago and been trying to find a hobby that i could commit to that could hold my interest, thus keeping me planted and NOT go back to doin dumb sh*t…..,..,So with all that said, can anybody help me get NOT discouraged and fly more than i am either fixing, tying, binding, fixing props, or in Betaflight for hours trying to figure sumptin out, so i can enjoy some Genuine, real, quality FPV Quad flying.. Thatas all i wanna do…I dont think itss too much to ask… i have the commitment,. in just dont have the proper guidance or people that know anything around me…So…#1….what quad SHOULD I BE USING besides sum low performance ass quad..#2 i need sum real help in flyin…..#3 how can i lower the speed/throttle to a speed that i can learn better on BetaFlight…#4..Just sum good ole help…i dont wanna stop the hobby with a poor taste in my mouth..
my name is Garrett.. hit me anytime anyone with help.. Thank You Stay Safe, Wear Masks..Save Lives.. Help me F*Lckin fly!…

    Confusing. So no like

  30. Helvetic FPV on August 5, 2022 at 8:30 pm

i got 100 flight hours in the sim but i know nothing about soldering, technique, etc.there’s tons of vids a bout rotating direction of props but i’d just like to know how TIGHT the nuts must be and which side of the prop is up and down or doesn’t it matter? the holes are different so i think it matters. i just lost a prop on my very first flight and crashed. i’m frustrated.

  31. Ray Hastings on August 5, 2022 at 8:34 pm

Thank you, I’m very new to drones and totally thought CW/CCW was the other way by looking at the the pointy ends. Your helping so many people out man. 🙂 Keep doing what your doing. 🙂

  32. klaus on August 5, 2022 at 8:34 pm

I have little plastic rings in the propeller package. They are useless?

  33. redrockswe on August 5, 2022 at 8:35 pm

Hey Joshua, I am new and I am trying to unpack this FPV thing in to my brain.
And I have to say that your channel is the best for some one like me. All your videos are so insightful. Even the vids where you go in to more advanced stuff. I as a noob can follow it.
    So thank you.

This guy has such a knack for explaining things clearly.

  36. solen18 on August 5, 2022 at 8:38 pm

How tight do we put them on? So this video is just prop direction. Shame 10 minute video wont even tell you how to torque them or have us watch you IDK put a damn prop on

  37. Matt on August 5, 2022 at 8:42 pm

One important info is missing, or maybe is on another video, but it is _massively_ important to learn about propeller’s hole size and some terminology used to give technical specs about the propeller. Example: I’ve bought some Gemfan 5040 as a spare for a sector5, they seem perfect but they go all the way down until the motor, so when I screw the nut the propeller keeps rotating freely, while if I mount the Ethix S5, which are stopping at the middle of the shaft, they won’t turn once the nut is tight. Basically, the Gemfan are not working with the Sector5 (and I’ve bought like 3 sets of those..), and I’m still trying to figure out what is the information I need to look for to make sure I’m buying compatible props. Note: if you are buying a sector5 on hglrc website BE AWARE they have some "advice" at the bottom of the page to "help the customer". Unfortunately, that thing is advising random things, and I had to argue with their support because they were blaming _me_ I didn’t check if the propeller _they_ advised would actually work with the drone………..

  38. Anamorphica on August 5, 2022 at 8:42 pm

thanks for the clarification. I’m new to drones and its taken me two days to find this information, even if it is a year old.

  39. Dacha Life on August 5, 2022 at 8:43 pm

Nice info. I have a question for you @Joshua Bardwell, I am a beginner myself and something that might seem stupid, for me is a nightmare. I have already lost two nut props trying to fly a Nazgul 5, and I am still trying to figure out why!!! Is there any specific way to screw them on ? do they have to be really tight, not much? thanks a lot

  42. DUBZslayZOMBIES on August 5, 2022 at 8:45 pm

one can gleam like a millesecond of knowledge out of this guys long winded series’ . is my humble opinion. the more you watch of him the more you see he really is desperate for the views of his whole video to find those tidbits. rare tho. just sayin he seems full of himself. go fly already.

Please make a video on how to screw down props. Some have screws on top to press the prop down, others have small screws through the prop?

  48. Jeff on August 5, 2022 at 8:54 pm

Question related to pusher drones, where the props mount below the motor. Do the tops of the props face up or face down ?

  49. Robert Hudson on August 5, 2022 at 8:56 pm

my Parrot Bebop 2 Drone. propellers push down at the front and up at the back there is only one way my propellers will fit, it try’s to flip itself over backwards or tries to if I hold it
