[PARTS LIST] ZMR250 RACING DRONE – BUILD VIDEO WITH FPV – PART 1

Hey Everyone! Welcome to my build video of the ZMR250 FPV racing drone! I’ve included the entire parts list WITH LINKS so that you can easily find the same or similar parts 🙂 In this video I will be building the ZMR250 from scratch, and not necessarily on a budget. I’ve upgraded a few components and purchased top of the line equipment which really is not needed just to get the ZMR 250 with FPV up and running. I did look into the Blackout mini 250 and other pre-built FPV racing drones but I wanted the experience of building one from scratch. This is partly why I went with the ZMR250. I must say though, I am very happy with this drone despite the setback and mess-ups I encountered (I’ll get to those later). Another good reason for building the FPV drone from scratch is the knowledge you gain from the experience. I knew nothing about frequencies, voltage, soldering and simply piloting FPV drones. I can’t say that I’m now an expert, but I know a LOT more than if I bought this thing off the shelf (let along the feeling of accomplishment once you finish-took about a month to build).

Moving forward, it was important that I kept track of the parts and links to the parts so that anyone watching this video could, in theory, buy the same parts and build the same drone. Feel free to leave a comment if you have a question about switching out a component for a cheaper one. There are many big ticket items like the Transmitter and FPV Goggles that can be switched out. Either myself or someone in the YouTube community will do their best to help you. I really hope you enjoy this video, and the parts to follow. I’ll also post some more entertainment geared videos of flying in cool places once I get my GoPro hooked up and mounted.

YOUTUBE WONT LET ME PASTE THE ENTIRE PARTS LIST SO HERE IS A GOOGLE DOC WITH THE LIST:

what is the model number of motors

  2. scirockalot8v on January 7, 2022 at 1:03 pm

for soldering the esc’s to the motors. you could remove the shrink wrap from the esc’s, desolder the wires, then solder the motor wires directly to the pads on the esc’s. makes it alot cleaner. great video. I’ve probably watched it about 3 times.

I have a quick question for you… what did you do with the receiver antennas? They are all wobbly and then when you did your maiden flight it looks like you had them stiff and perfectly aligned… how did you manage this?

You secure the propellers with nuts and not bolts! 😉

You know… the ESCs actually don’t have to go on the arms. I know that they are popularly placed on the arms because it can save space in the body, but I’ve seen plenty of builds where the ESCs sit inside the body. Having just wires and no ESCs on the arms looks really clean if you can pull it off.

I have the receiver connected and its bound to the transmitter. Base flight is reading the receiver moving roll, pitch, yaw, and throttle when I move the gimbles on my X9D Plus. But when I disconnect it from base flight, the motors aren’t spinning when i move the gimbles. Help?

Instead of cutting the wires to mount the ESC on the wing arms could you mount them on the main body? Most likely would still need to cut the wiring, but the wing arms would be less cluttered. Just a though I haven’t built any of these yet. Mainly watching videos to get some context while visualizing a build in my head.

  19. Ed FPV on January 7, 2022 at 1:41 pm

You don’t have to have a heat gun to shrink the heat shrink you just need a lighter

  20. Pablo Diaz on January 7, 2022 at 1:41 pm

Awesome video man thanks! I’ve been trying to gather as much info as possible on fpv cause I’d really like to start building one but I still have a few things unclear. Mostly the radio and video signal stuff. I’m about to watch your other video on that topic and see what I learn!

Thank you for your video. Any idea how much weight does the drone have with battery? What is the battery life on it? Thanks

How are your solder joints after that? You seem to be heating up the solder, not the parts you are soldering. You seem to be just dripping solder onto the pads 19:00
