In this video I check out and test how much these drone strobe navigation LED lights improve VLOS for drones such as the DJI Mavic Mini and the DJI Mini 2 but are also useful for other drones also at night time specifically. I will be testing some more powerful ones soon.

  7. josh on August 16, 2021 at 9:44 pm

Why don’t the built in lights count as line of sight?

  8. Chris Coleman on August 16, 2021 at 9:45 pm

Great video, I take it you are local to me ? I’m in Ashton under Lyne, going to nip to your store now and buy some stuff, subbed as well ! Excelent store, landing mat and set of lights bought, arriving tomorrow , mint !

  9. graeme law on August 16, 2021 at 9:46 pm

got some for mini 2, but in that position the drone wont fold up correctly, & the prop strap pulls on the props (& we all know what that leads to!)
so i stuck mine elsewhere. good lights for the monies though ! cheers gav ๐Ÿ‘

  13. Chris Coleman on August 16, 2021 at 9:50 pm

Just got my stuff, well pleased, took a 2 second video of my lights, shared it in a mini 2 group, got four people wanting them already, I have posted your store link on there Gavin !

  14. Brian Mackey on August 16, 2021 at 9:51 pm

can you close the drone? I had mine on the front and had to remove them and they tore the rubber under motor sealing apart ๐Ÿ™ I should mention mine is a mini 2!

  15. The Gooserider on August 16, 2021 at 9:53 pm

The attitude compass is the same principle as the last. I don’t know what the big deal is? If you don’t know how to read your orientation on your drone. Don’t fly at night, and don’t fly far away from yourself until you are fully comfortable that you know how to bring it home.

  16. R M N on August 16, 2021 at 9:55 pm

Good demonstration, I have a pair of flytron CREE LEDs Red and White , I would say they are the best interms of visibility ,were still clearly visible 2km until I got disconnected ,they claim 3 miles visibility ,will upload video soon.

  17. james cortez on August 16, 2021 at 9:56 pm

I think your missing the point of VLOS… This is not sensible flying as you can clearly not see other aircraft or obstacles around your drone.. Also do these lights not weigh over a gram combined.. I’m sure these would put drone over the weight limit so you have to follow different rules the min you take off with them.

  20. Ivan Jdrakov on August 16, 2021 at 10:05 pm

Really really, so cool and so awesome!!! I’m so jealous hey!! I wanna buy me 8 of those lil strobe lights, 4 for my Mavic Mini and 4 for my Mini 2!

Im so very happy that you’re starting night flights also! Even happier that you’re flying your beloved Mavic Mini!

Don’t forget that for the night flights if you’re not taking off in a place where there is enough lighting for the bottom visual sensors and you haven’t waited for GPS satellites the drone will drift quite seriously.. So either wait for GPS to be enough, so wait for home point to update.. Then it’s OK if there is no light..

Just saying this because if you bring it in for a landing it might crash into something if not enough light below the drone.. You’ll have to manually control it all the way till it touches the ground..

I’m gonna click the link and see what you recommend bro.. ๐Ÿ˜

Very happy that you didn’t forget the Mavic Mini! I also still fly mine everyday and then only my Mini 2.. So inalwseem to start off with the Mavic Mini, then I fly my Mini 2!

I love to fly them both hey.. It’s so nice to fly the Mini 2 after you fly the Mavic Mini, you then really seeand feel what you’ve upgraded to!

    Keep well and be safe!

  21. Lunarmagiclegend on August 16, 2021 at 10:05 pm

I switched from the Mavic Mini to the Mavic Mini 2 and flies Soo much better. I use a recommended compatable phone called Vivo Nex S with the Ocusync 2.0 transmission it totally eliminated the influence of environmental interference on the drone operation and the image quality perfect. I’m using dji app 1.2.4 with the new compass and it’s a total game changer ๐Ÿ˜Š

  22. Trevor Hedges on August 16, 2021 at 10:06 pm

Adding these will put you over the250g legal weight.

  23. nicholas thackeray on August 16, 2021 at 10:07 pm

What does this do to the overall weight of the drone :/

  24. Eternal Pupil on August 16, 2021 at 10:08 pm

looking forward to the litchi video, nice strobes, and it’s awesome you have an amazon page now great vid

  25. Sev Mato on August 16, 2021 at 10:08 pm

With those 2 strobes attached, what’s the take-off weight now? Is it still under 250g?

  26. Dug Diamond on August 16, 2021 at 10:08 pm

congrats on showing the public, what VLOS does NOT mean.

VLOS = the ability to see the UAV, and its orientation, at all times… without the use of a smart device.

A DJI drone that comes with the ability to attach a SMART phone (or SMART controller) is a luxury.

If your SMART device failed, you can still control the UAV without it…. but when it is out of VLOS… you’ll be guessing for a long time the heading it is going!!!
This is why there are rules.

I am a GVC pilot with full permisions (OA+OSC).

But well done with your 15+K views.

  27. DIGITAL JUNIOR on August 16, 2021 at 10:08 pm

Like the Amazon link to products. Unfortunately decided to return the Mini 2 – spoilt by air 2 for too long I think.

  28. Eastwood on August 16, 2021 at 10:09 pm

Oh by they way that’s flashing not strobing

  29. Tony Sutton on August 16, 2021 at 10:11 pm

After not being able to see my grey Mini 2 against a grey, drizzly sky a couple of days ago, I started looking at strobe lights and I went online last night and got myself a Strobron Cree strobe light from Flytron. It’s rechargeable and will be fitted with velcro. It came in at ยฃ17, will not take the Mini 2 over 249g and is supposedly visible at 3km in the dark.

The Mini 2 is so much quieter than my old drone (a black SJRC F11) and about 1/5th of the size so it came as a bit of a shock as to how hard it was to find in daylight so I’m hoping that the new light will help. I went for red as I think that will be easier to see.

  30. Frederick Gordon on August 16, 2021 at 10:11 pm

Good video, thanks for that information

  31. Luke Aries on August 16, 2021 at 10:13 pm

Absolutely awesome, I may have missed but do the lights take the Mini2 over the 250g limit?

  32. Eastwood on August 16, 2021 at 10:14 pm

But Blue is not legit with FAA standards

  35. Adam Westlake on August 16, 2021 at 10:18 pm

Can you do a video on 360 photos. It works fine on app then doesn’t work on any other platforms.

    good job

  40. David H Bedenham on August 16, 2021 at 10:27 pm

Happy New Year Gavin from Cyprus. I built a prototype strobe unit for my DJI Mavic Mini I (MM) where I used a couple of Xenon strobes purchased from Banggood. I mounted these on a DJI Mavic Mini Snap Adaptor to provide a secure mount onto the MM. I had tried to mount the strobe unit on the MM body itself, but was never satisfied with the mounting from a safety point of view. For power supply, I used a small rechargeable LiPo battery from a small quadcopter. This gives me about 1.5 hours of flying time, and recharge relatively quickly from a Power Bank or USB connection. I used two strobe units to provide a view from different angles when the MM is in the air. Results have been excellent, with these strobes (being Xenon discharge tubes) of very high intensity. I now just need to encapsulate the unit in epoxy resin (instead of the elastic bands holding it together now!). Cheers

  41. Jason Saunders on August 16, 2021 at 10:29 pm

Can you see them at 600m ?๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿคฃ

  42. Derek Pask on August 16, 2021 at 10:30 pm

Gavin, have you done a weight test on the little lights.

I use a flytron Cree strobe in white . Super visible
    Great video bud ๐Ÿ‘

  45. Kevin Masters on August 16, 2021 at 10:32 pm

Personally, the Mini 2’s front strobe light, the hideous orange propellers and the big ugly remote is a turn-off.

  46. Eastwood on August 16, 2021 at 10:32 pm

If you can’t see them from 2 nautical miles then that drone is illegally flying

  47. Jason Black on August 16, 2021 at 10:33 pm

The light’s aren’t for you. They should be there to be seen by Manned Aircraft so they won’t wreck your drone.

  48. Dave Day on August 16, 2021 at 10:33 pm

This wouldn’t be possible without the information on the ‘phone. Simply seeing the drone doesn’t give any info regarding orientation. I recieved my Mini 2 yesterday (Sunday). Yes, I did use your corporate link. I must say that, having spent ยฃ550, I was a little taken aback to find I needed to spend another ยฃ45 before I could use it. As you said though, I was more than satisfied. It hovered in thhe middle of my living room for 20 minutes without any input from me.

  49. Adam Westlake on August 16, 2021 at 10:34 pm

Probably not the right forum. Can you do a video on filters you use or reccomend?

  50. Tobias on August 16, 2021 at 10:36 pm

You put the lights on and disregard Strong Wind Warnings… really bad example of how a drone operator should behave.
