    I live by a small airport (Bolingbrook’s Clow Int’l Airport). Nothing came up on the website, obviously I’m not flying right over it or even that close to it, but do I need to check any other resources if it’s gonna be an issue?

    Since we fly within the 5 miles of controlled airspace at our AMA approved flying field, we have a formal understanding to call the tower before and after flying for the day. So there are exceptions for AMA club flying fields that have applied and received a written letter of understanding.

    This is such a great video! I live in Denver co and I want to buy me a drone at Best Buy, but I want to know what are my flying restrictions. I wonder if I can fly in my neighborhood or take to drone to down town around the building to see how they look like, but I want to make sure I don’t do anything stupid and get in trouble. Are downtown flights illegal?

    I was in pacific grove today and I was flying my drone in free air space. ( not restricted) but a cop from the pacific grove told me that local ordinances require me to get a permit. What is fact and what is fiction?

    I have been challenged about my drone several times for several reasons. Each time I quietly and politely showed the person that I wasn’t a bad guy, etc.. And that I was legal to fly where I was flying and what I was doing was non-harmful to anyone or anything. BUT just recently I had a guy shoot at my drone with a rifle. I surely do not want any fool like him to know where I am because I’m not a moving target. He might get lucky and kill me. Thing is my drone never went near any houses or buildings. My life is more important than some fool taking aim on me instead of my drone. The DJI app that just came out is dangerous and I do not want to be tbe first dead pilot… think about that DJI. And I am sure the FAA hasn’t thought about that either. If FAA rules to give out my location. I’ll destroy my drone turn in my 107 license and stay alive. I do not want to be the "test" case where I was "dead" right. And here is what makes me mad if I was to get shot then there would be a whole bunch of copycats because of the news media would blow it all over the world so all of the fools would get together and start shooting drone pilots. Sorry fellas I don’t want to be the first pilot to be shot. That’s my thoughts, you all have a nice day.

    I got a question.. at a G rated tower… AS a Recreation pilot can I fly my drone close to the airport under 400′ and yield to all aircraft and stay away from the end of the runway ?

    Hi I’m on the outer band of Jacksonville NAS Florida. From time to time I would like to test my drones at the end of my dock which about 4.5 miles from NAS Jacksonville, I used to call control tower to ask permission fly within sight and never over 400 ft, the control tower answered not a problem but now we have to fly under LAANC RULES I want to call for permission. Please let me know the phone number to call. Another question is if I started my drones to test the motors but never get off the ground if I’m in violation of FAA rules and regulations.

    Dec 27th 2019……………..FAA Proposes Restrictive Remote ID Technology

    The registration process will not work for model aircraft. It’s based on the false assumption that AMA members have just 2 planes that last for 10 years. Page 194. It also requires that The Rx detect Internet or it will not initialize. It also states a requirement for the Rx to broadcast telemetry data with a serial number or session Id to a 3rd party contractor approved by the FAA and that data be held for 2 years. Additionally, if you have aircraft that do not have remotes I’d you can only fly at FAA approved flying sites. Furthermore there are some scary words on page 174 that state that waivers will only be granted to fixed flying sites for s period of 12 months. After that period there will be no more waivers granted and renewals must occur every 48 months. Which means that if you lose your field , you will not get FAA approval at another field. It also states in very clear language that the expected result is that over time fixed flying sites will go away by attrition and that everyone will be flying with remote I’d. Problem is, all of that is geared towards drones and assumed that model aircraft are the same thing. They have some pretty lofty technological asks and compliance demands that manufacturers will have to adhere too…and since most non AMA fliers fly DRONES , airplane and heli manufacturers will be screwed due to loss of revenue and most likely go out of business. Leaving only drones. If Horizon, for example, thinks it’s not profitable to make model aircraft , they won’t ..the FAA is demanding manufacturers to come up with thier own solutions in order to comply. It will take some time to roll out but if all of this stays like it is , the model aircraft hobby is dead and anyone who has money in this is screwed. It’s called Tyranny through over regulation in an attempt to deny airspace to model aircraft Also see this link

    I request ATC permission in a zero grid class E-2 airspace three weeks ago using Lannc through AirMap and on dronezone.
    No response yet.
    Any suggestions
    I’m hoping to fly in the location on at least one of three days I requested. I made multiple requests because of weather and scheduling unknowns at the time of the requests.

    I’m not in any air space. But helicopter, hospital helicopters, personal planes(Cessnas) , and military helicopters fly in/close/under 400 ft right over my house all the time. It’s aggravating because if they were to hit ny drone it would be there own fault.

    Great informative video. I do have one question I live in south east Florida and there are parts of the everglades that are not designated as national parks, In B4Ufly app it shows one part that is special use airspace and let’s you know that the area is a wild life preserve and is marked in yellow and gives warning , but further north is an area in that is not marked in yellow and is all green and you get the good to go green lite from the app, but it is also called a special use airspace. I am not planning on disrupting wildlife or anything of that nature, but the sunsets out there are nothing short of amazing. Can you clarify if flight is legal in the green area of the special use airspace that gives you the good to go on the app. Thanks for your help and #subscribed!

    Mcgreggor airport in Mcgreggor tx doesn’t have a controlled airspace grid as shown. Am I still restricted from flying within 5 miles as a hobbyist?

    These drone regulations do not take Model Aircraft into account at all. Even the FAA recognized sites aren’t designed for Model Aircraft. They are really just designed for Drone users who can’t comply with remote id. In fact, this NPRM will not allow for Model Aviation to even exist. But what’s more… I’ve been dong this all my life and I will be a criminal for dong what I’ve been doing all my life, safely and responsibly.

    on airmap I see a lot of airports that do not have controlled airspace they show as a yellow circle and do not show on the FAA UAS Data on a Map. Most are grass strips with no control tower or a phone with anyone to answer it. Can we just fly like we were outside of the circle and not in controlled airspace or is there special step ?

    My drone does not require registration due to bieng under .55 lbs. I am in a green grid zone on an outer grid that is marked with 0. So I cannot fly my drone at my house? If so I need authorization and I do not have a registration number so how do I use LAANC? Also as the grid gets closer to the air port which is many miles away the grids go up to 400. Very confusing. Any help will be appreciated. PS: My drone app only states to fly with caution.

    Hi. Im new in the drone world. Ordered my first drone. the community airport here in Lompoc, CA is not listed on LAANC, it’s a really small airport it is about 2 miles from the place i want to practice flying what do i do? Also Airmap and B4ufly is telling me a “Good to Go” but stay alert. What should i do? Thanks

    I purchased a drone last year for recreation. It’s registered. But I understand they are now going to require some type of test.. do you know when that goes into effect? And is there a sample test or materials?

    After reading the 319 pages of the FAAs proposal it is obvious the authors are not licensed pilots or fly any type of radio-controlled aircraft. As an example of the disconnect, they mention that an airport was shut down because a drone was sited within 10 miles of an airport. As any pilot knows most airport traffic areas are 5 miles. All class B, C, D airspace definitions have a base of 5 miles. Any one shutting down an airport because of a drone flying within 10 miles of an airport are using bad judgment. Other instances sited in the proposal talk about the drones over forest fires. Since the ban on this activity this infraction has stopped. Also, they do not mention it was the press for the news media that was doing this not the armature flyer. So, the premises in the proposal are false and represent poor judgement by the authors of the document and the FAA for publishing this proposal.
    To control all of the airspace in the USA with a cell phone app is flawed. Anyone using a cell phone has experienced loss of signals and all of the USA does not have consistence coverage. Also, public WIFI is not available in 100% of the cities of the USA. So relying on a cell phone for integrity of flight is intermittent and would be hazardous to the public. Because if the plane loses coverage in flight where will it land? I have been witness to DJI drones flying off into the wild when return to home has been selected. So if the loss of signal is experienced will the public be exposed to a new danger.
    The premise used to put forth this document is flawed and the technology is un reliable and will cause more hazards than the present rules we fly with today.

    Thanks for this video I’m still afraid to take the recreational fly Test. Also is not posible to take because I don’t own the drone now and they ask for serial number or model number for registration. Any idea how long is the recreational test ?

    Shame on you! Why? Because just like every other person profiting from drones with academies and YouTube channels, non of you have been interested in getting drone owners banded together through a national association of drone owners. Now that the fox is in the hen house, all of you are crying out for drone owners to write the FAA. If we had had an association started as little as 18 months ago with YouTubers support, I predict we would have been able to conservatively have over a million members by now. Maybe two? Then we would have our voices heard and had financial clout to challenge these insidious proposed regulations. I propose that if we don’t get together immediately we are done as a hobby and heavily restricted as a professional industry. I would greatly appreciate you getting together with some of your colleagues and formulating a national association. Maybe it should be named the "United National Drone-owners Association", UNDO for short!
