New Drone Laws UK – Rules For Drone Pilots Flying Drones In The UK

In this video I explain what everyone needs to know about the new drone laws for the UK.
Interested in Unmanned Aviation? Want to reach out to more clients & customers?

The UK Dronecode is published by the Civil Aviation Authority, the national body that oversees and governs UK airspace. See

The purpose of the UK Dronecode is “to assist drone users in flying safely”.

Stick to these regulations and you’ll not only minimse the risk of harming anyone or anything but you will also stay out of trouble with the Law.

You can download a copy of the UK Dronecode from the Drone Safe website:

The new version came into effect on 30th July 2018 and enshrines in law what were previously only guidelines for the safe flying of UAV in UK airspace.

The Civial Aviation Authority (CAA) has drawn up these new drones laws in 2018 in order to instill a drone code in the minds of both amateur and professional drone pilots.

I was watching your video about the drone laws and regulations, first of all great job, secondly, i have a youtube channel where at the moment i don’t have any Monetization set up at the minute. Surely that means i don’t have to apply for a commercial license for Youtube videos that include drone footage do i ?

The drone code is NOT law. The new laws are still being discussed. Most of what is being discussed is already law for model aircraft. The only new law that is required is that all drone operators should hold a BMFA ‘B’ certificate.

Thanks, but do it again without sounding as if you’re struggling to read it in an accent that’s not your own. Also, moderate the tone away from sounding like a schoolteacher. But, really, thanks .

    Liked 🙂 Clear video.
That sign at 1:20 – aircraft really should not be overhead!
3:20 a lot of the manuals are unhelpful to the point of being dangerous.
    4:17 Welll said 😀

This should also apply to police helicopters fly over my house every other day and circling the neighbourhood… If it crashes it will take the whole street out.!!
