The UK Gem-7 UAV from Gem Aero has the longest endurance, of all the medium-size UAVs.
It has a very efficient and durable airframe.
And is 1/10th the price of a standard military UAV.

Hams invented drones huh? Nice. ARRL is still chugging, taking nerds of all stripes!

12:22 small and unassuming? Maybe the RQ-7 but not the Predator. The Predator has a length 5′ shorter but a wingspan 11′ greater than a P-51. Certainly not small.

    "Roberts’ Ridge," not bridge

With Joe Biden in office, the name of this drone suddenly makes sense.

What on God’s green Earth is a "4 cylinder turbo-prop engine"?? That’s not even a thing!!!!

  11. suzettespencer on August 14, 2021 at 10:11 pm

Please consider the Tomahawk missile for mega or side project.

  12. Helipeek on August 14, 2021 at 10:11 pm

That’s not a turboprop – Rotax make piston engines not gas turbines.🤦‍♂️

"If the A-10 is the hammer, the MQ-1 is a scalpel"
Well they use the exact same missiles and similar targetting system soooooo…..A-10 is just as effective at using AGM-65. 99% sure the same can be said for the F-35, I’m positive they also use AGM-65. I don’t see how an A-10 and F-22 struggled to take out something the MQ-1 could, A-10 especially as CAS is literally their entire reason for existing. Taking out fortified bunkers and tanks is just breakfast for one.

if you wanna talk about service life…you should do a video on the A-10 Warthog you mentioned…things been around since the war in Vietnam…titanium reinforced bathtub for the pilot/co-pilot….multiple redundant systems…can make it home on a single engine and missing most of its wings….

and of course…the GAU-8 Avenger cannon…whole aircraft is built around it….#Brrt

  16. Charles Gantz on August 14, 2021 at 10:12 pm

Think how long your cell phone lasts until it is obsolete. According to Verizon, about 2 days.

Also, the drones not only strike terror in the terrorists, it strikes terror in military pilots, all of whom are in danger of either being made redundant or spending their careers sitting in a little trailer in Nevada.

I don’t actually know if it was a Predator or not, but during the Gulf War the USS Wisconsin had a spotter drone for her 16 inch guns, and had an Iraqi position surrender to the drone since they saw what the drone’s presence indicated.

The irony of being born in Baghdad and also being responsible for creating the modern drone is unbelievable.

The US invented drone surveillance and remotely-operated warfare. The Chinese will perfect it. The world needs a Geneva-convention for drone warfare.

The Operation Desert Storm took place in 1991, the RQ-1 was introduced in 1994, deployed in 1996. Simon says in the video that RQ-1 brought contribution to intelligence during The Operation Desert Storm…for me it does make no sense, can somebody clarify this for me in case i’m wrong.

  48. Pat Dohrety on August 14, 2021 at 10:56 pm

The Americans used swarms of drones in the 1990 persian gulf war against Iraq. The Iraqi air defense thought they were scoring tons of hits on fighters and bombers, and they were just being distracted by robots lol

A Rotax is a two stroke engine used mainly in ski-doo water and snow craft, made in Canada. the version your probably thinking of is a turbo charged version. Not a turboprop. These Engines are well known for their reliability and fuel efficiency.
