Lily Drone Disaster Continues – Mota Group + DbUS (Drones By US)

Lily Drone Disaster Continues – Mota Group + DbUS (Drones By US)

Since its relaunch by Mota Group, Lily has continued to disappoint. This year the app login servers were switched off leaving consumers with a non-flyable brick and the company ‘Mota’ simply disappeared without any communication or warning. Next, a new company called DbUS (Drones By US) pop up with the same management team, identical rebranded products and a flashy new website, begging for customer trust but claiming no association with Mota group, the disappointment and scam continues…

I was an original Lily pre-order and was refunded. I thought at first they just invested all our money, took the interest, then refunded the principal to avoid issues.

  2. Maxwell mc on July 3, 2022 at 7:20 pm

    Utter scam

  3. Dog on July 3, 2022 at 7:20 pm

The first Lily was cool. I was refunded $$ for it when they went belly up. The drone was rebooted with Mota – they disappeared with my $$. The same folks are running this new company Drones By Us? Unbelievable! Don’t trust them.

  4. Albert Miranda on July 3, 2022 at 7:21 pm

Based on the video, there was a glimmer of hope mentioned that a lily drone may work with another application GoFlight or the Take, how would I test that? Any ideas?

  5. Sarah Bang on July 3, 2022 at 7:21 pm

Has anyone been able to fly the Lily with the High Great Take app? Thanks for this post.

  6. Frank M Greco on July 3, 2022 at 7:24 pm

I also find it interesting that was registered by GoDaddy on 2018-10-28 at 07:15:38, about a month and a half (more or less) before MOTA shut down. While circumstantial, it does, to me, point to the principals of MOTA Group knowing the company was in trouble, and that they were going to reboot the business under a different name while continuing to accept order under the MOTA name. This incident is being investigated by the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office so anyone who’s had a problem with MOTA should get in touch with them. I’ve been dealing with Mr. Jose Olivarez who is a Consumer Mediator, Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, 70 West Hedding -West Wing, San Jose, CA 95110

  10. airtec87 on July 3, 2022 at 7:33 pm

I was really close to buying a dbu drone but thanks for the heads up.

  11. HDgodfrey on July 3, 2022 at 7:35 pm

If they are currently selling it through the "new" company what are those customers using to fly the "Lilly next gen"?

  12. Appalachian Aerial Photography and Video , on July 3, 2022 at 7:36 pm

Great work letting everyone know about this company. Keep up the good work!

  13. Trea5ure on July 3, 2022 at 7:36 pm

I’m not a big drone enthusiast, but I needed to use my lily drone lat night. Logged on, ah need to download new software, so i did. Drone then didn’t turn on, link on the app didn’t work either – strange. So a quick bit of googling brought me here. I have to say i’m gutted and pretty pissed off.

So I was an original backer of Lily. I ended up getting refunded and was then offered the second lily drone, with $900 share certificate of common stock (which I received) and the promise of a controller and additional spares (which I didn’t receive). For what i needed thought the drone was okay.
So now after watching this video I learn that I have a £500 brick apparently.

I’ll be jumping onto the DbUS website later for a quick chat…
    What a joke.
Thank you for the research and honesty. Good advice around going for a known brand. Bloody irritating.

  14. doooeyvuitton on July 3, 2022 at 7:37 pm

    Wow so much drone drama

  15. Weston James on July 3, 2022 at 7:38 pm

I have three pallets of the Lily drone AC adapter / chargers, brand new sealed. Anyone know if they are compatible with other newer drones?

  16. Norm E on July 3, 2022 at 7:38 pm

I bought into the original lily drone. I was suppose to be one of the first groups to receive them. Luckily I was able to get into the class action lawsuit against lily and get my money back. I received a letter from this new group claiming to have bought out lily’s assets and they already had a flyable drone ready for sale. Of course they were offering a huge discount to former lily customers even though their cost was $300 more than I paid for the original lily. After hearing everything that’s going on with this new company, I’m glad I didn’t fall for the scam a second time.

Some more Horse doo doo down the damn drain. Why do people do such stupid Sugar Honey Ice Tea that people loose money on. People just do not use their heads at all. Follow the Pide Piper.

  18. christian bernardini on July 3, 2022 at 7:40 pm

    help me please

I have a lily drone but I don’t have the app to use it. how and where can i find an app to use it?

  19. George Richardson on July 3, 2022 at 7:40 pm

I had two lily’s on pre-order. Thankfully got full refund. Bought a mavic.. Best decision made.
Anyone who reinvested in the rebrand.. Was just looking to throw money away!

  22. Hao Wu on July 3, 2022 at 7:41 pm

After backing the original Lily crowdfund campaign, I became suspicious of all kickstarter products. Fortunately I got a full refund. To that end, I am grateful that Lily has taught me an important lesson.

  23. isrv on July 3, 2022 at 7:43 pm

Man I was over here thinking about this drone in recent days since it fallows you around and absolutely love that concept but wtf now I’m wondering if there is a drone out there that has this actual capability of doing so

  24. Chaka Zulu on July 3, 2022 at 7:44 pm

I bought my first drone about 10 months ago, and it was a DJI mavic air, and I’ve never looked back, I’ve checked out others but nothing compares, don’t be fooled people👍

  25. Dave's Motivational Channel on July 3, 2022 at 7:44 pm

Lots of sharks out there. Yes I was about to buy a Lily -V2 being sold on Amazon Jan 2021. Thought what a deal….Lily V2 produced sold currently by YAOSHUYANG. £35.32 weight 1000 grams, so probably another diverse re sell. Thanks, I now watch Captain drone is a really good person for honest advice re drones. Not a promoter or seller.

  26. True Blue Aussie on July 3, 2022 at 7:46 pm

Could you please advise a good drone the follows you while riding , swimming , hiking , snowboarding etc?.. I don’t want to waste my money on a product that doesn’t work..

  27. D-RODERICK82 on July 3, 2022 at 7:46 pm

I’ve got a question is this Lily drone next gen paper weight now dose it not work at all

  28. Harley Steele on July 3, 2022 at 7:46 pm

I just learned this morning that my drone next gen is a brick. I was scammed twice. First by the original lily preorder and I now know by Moro Group. I would love to know if any class action lawsuits are underway. My email is:

I have the lily next-gen. Was nice flying for a while till my batteries died. Already ordered the remote controller which never arrived (as stated as well in your video) and of course the batteries never arrived either. Set of unbelievable motherf****ers that basically have stolen my money. Both with non delivery of spares and now a drone that does not fly…

  31. Alistair Beckett on July 3, 2022 at 7:49 pm

Who’d have guessed it – both their twitter and Facebook pages haven’t been updated since July 2019. I wonder if they still trading as DBUS…

Has anyone found an app that will work with Lily? Failing that, does anyone want my Lily for parts? I’m starting over with a Skydio. Thanks for the great video — I feel so stoooopid.

  42. Epic L on July 3, 2022 at 7:58 pm

Thanks for this guys, my Lily is fully bricked and now at least I have hope opf trying the FlightGo app to see if they can connect.

  43. Cabilicious 599 on July 3, 2022 at 8:03 pm

Has anyone successfully "hacked" the Lily Drone (Mota Group) App? Or, has anyone successfully used the High Great Take drone app on the Lily drone?

  45. Mid State Rustics on July 3, 2022 at 8:04 pm

Great job on bringing this forth Ash, there are way too many companies out there that pull this kind of thing on a daily basis and the only ones that end up screwed in the end is Us consumers.

  48. CT Singletrack on July 3, 2022 at 8:16 pm

Great information. When the original campaign for Lili came out, I really wanted one for filming drifting. The tracking bracelet seemed like a great idea for keeping the subject in frame, and it looked amazing landing and taking off on water.

  49. brick12010 on July 3, 2022 at 8:16 pm

Sad to say I ordered an original Lily. Happy to report I got my money back. Sad to say I ordered the next Gen Lily, happy to report I got my money back after a series of e-mails. And amazingly, they sent me an actual drone. Tells you how lost they were. Beautiful little unit that apparently can’t fly. Crazy story this Lily/Mota/DbUS saga!

  50. Jered Van Houten on July 3, 2022 at 8:16 pm

Got on the original lili campaign and a never got anything. Was just sad.
