Incredible Reaction to Flying a Drone in Papua New Guinea!

Incredible Reaction to Flying a Drone in Papua New Guinea!

Hey guys, today I want to show-and-tell you about a once-in-a-lifetime experience I had in Papua New Guinea. SPOILER ALERT: I get emotional.

While exploring the amazing hiking trails in PNG, we were invited into the village of Malbanga, which has very few visitors from western countries and as usual, we were flying our drone to film the surrounding landscape—and the incredible reaction we got while flying the drone is something I won’t soon forget!

For anybody who’s done travel in some off-the-beaten-track locations, you know what I’m talking about when certain experiences open your eyes to a whole new world and it gives you a bigger picture of what’s going on on this planet, with people and what really matters.

I hope you enjoyed the story and I’d love to hear about moments that opened your eyes up while travelling in the comments below!

This is like one of a local remote village in PNG, not the cities, most people there have a fair idea on what that was, just the kids having fun cos it seemed like a cool toy.

Just wonderful. I have had similar experiences in remote areas worldwide including PNG (filming with Missionary Aviation Fellowship) in the 90’s and although I have a drone now & retired video producer, this still thrills me. Well presented & done!!

Exoticism, orientalism, othering and similar depictions of the colonial trope of "indigenous awe at new technology". Use the drone to help the Papuans in their fight against land grabbing and deforestation and palm oil instead of perpetuating stereotypes of their primitivism.
