Illegal Drone Flying at the Hoover Dam – Never do this (VLOG 013)

I was in Arizona for a business trip, and it was time to head to Las Vegas. Ally and I made a couple fun stops along the way, including Hoover Dam, so I thought I would VLOG the day. Enjoy!

One glance at the Las Vegas Terminal Area Chart shows that the entire area (not just the dam) is a charted National Park Service area and you won’t clear that by the requested 2,000′ AGL legally with a UAS. And if you did clear it, you’d be in the 6,500-10,000 MSL Class B airspace of KLAS.

On a matter of principle, I resent the term ‘no fly zone’.

    A nice vedio..

  6. MrPolymers on May 10, 2021 at 2:22 am

I visited Hoover Dam years ago. Went in the dam and on Lake Mead. That was long before drones existed. I’ll admit, I’d be anxious to fly my Mavic there. I’d think the DJI software would prohibit it.

  7. Billybong Thornton on May 10, 2021 at 2:22 am

Fuck it fly the drone pussies

  8. Richard on May 10, 2021 at 2:23 am

Also, most people don’t realize this, but it is technically illegal to fly in any National Park or federally reserved land (this includes things like the Hoover Dam and military areas too)… "without permission". You CAN get permission for most National Parks and federal land, you just have to contact them and fill out some paperwork (mainly includes who you are, what sort of insurance you have, when you’ll be flying, where you’ll be flying it, and what your purpose is). Of course, they do have the ability to say "You have to modify this" or "that area is off-limits to everybody under any circumstance", but they can’t deny your request solely because it’s federal land. The thing is, once you do have permission, make sure you have a physical copy of it on you, so if anybody does say anything and/or cops do get involved… "I’m sorry. Here’s proof I’m allowed to be here. Thank you for your concern."

What are the chances of you talking about how it’s no-fly zone and then probably the only police action you saw there was from some old man trying to fly his drone. Smh.

  27. Gemster18 on May 10, 2021 at 2:44 am

Great job looks absolutely gorgeous in Arizona I do have one question though if I May I thought when you fly near those cell towers that it effects the drone? I read somewhere that flying near cell towers could adversely affect the GPS and perhaps make the drone fly away.

  28. Danny Black on May 10, 2021 at 2:44 am

Dang what kind of trouble do you think that guy got into??? Also what kind of gimble were you using ???

Not a hater on fancy cars, but I wouldn’t take it even if it was given to me for free. Those cars aren’t practical.

  34. Rob Simpson on May 10, 2021 at 2:55 am

The only NFZ I would be interested in flying is Area 51

Click bait to make 22 cents thanks !

  41. Richard on May 10, 2021 at 3:03 am

Just stumbled across your channel and this video specifically. Just wanted to say hi. I appreciate you not taking an hour long aerial video with about 2 seconds of commentary like several other channels I’ve come across.

  42. Mikey on May 10, 2021 at 3:04 am

‘Responsible Pilots’. LOL! I’m pretty sure the shot over the highway @ 2:04 and ‘Flying within 50m of a building or structure not under your control’ @1:40, 3:05 etc. etc. are not allowed. We all do naughty stuff, my friend. Drone rules are like religion. People obey the stuff that suits them

  43. RoadKingHD FOREVER on May 10, 2021 at 3:04 am

You can’t takeoff or land in a national park. They don’t own the airspace. You can fly over them!

  44. Truman Glasgow on May 10, 2021 at 3:06 am

    good stuff

  45. SENSORY Cinema on May 10, 2021 at 3:06 am
