I am an FAA Part 107 sUAS Certificate holder. While FUN is always the objective for me, I also believe in adherence to the rules set forth in order to fly safely and smartly.

Did I really just 👀the whole video

I am trying to fly in a controlled Airspace but when I submit my flight I don’t see where it also submits a request for authorization? Is it Automatic, is it only available for Iphone users? Any help would be helpful!

  3. Gadget Inspector on July 24, 2021 at 8:57 pm

The FAA just updated their website with the most current guidance/rules and regs for hobbyists and part 107’ers. Getting you part 107 certificate just opens up more airspace to you so I highly recommend it.

  4. Van Williams on July 24, 2021 at 8:57 pm

I live in NC. I attempted to get approval to fly in the area of boat dock. I did the flight plan. It said something like Area D prohibited. Automated Approval coming soon. That’s probably not the exact language used but pretty close. The ceiling for the area I wanted to fly is 400. I’m just wondering if a small airport like I have here doesn’t have automated approval?

Does this process work the same way for red no fly zone? I have a nuclear site near by and it showed green until I got there and DJI SCREEN showed red no fly..could I use my phone to connect to AirMap for clearance? Thanks

  6. My Mgb on July 24, 2021 at 8:58 pm

Very good. I used to use Kittyhawk but stopped. Sometime ago. To be clear, when you setup your flight area if there is no orange circle in that you maybe out in the boondocks, there is no need to get authorization???

  7. Inspired Art Photos on July 24, 2021 at 8:58 pm

FANTASTIC! Really really helpful. Since the new rules this video is a must! No more hobbyist drone flying so I went and got 107 certified. I used to just call ATC. I wondered how to easily learn AirMap. Thank You!!

  8. Steve Laminack on July 24, 2021 at 8:58 pm

How does the property owner figure into this? Is this giving you FAA approval to fly in airspace at private property as long as you do not go on the property? You didn’t say anything about if that building you want to fly at was private or public.

  9. Gurpreet Singh on July 24, 2021 at 8:59 pm

What happens when you are in Class D airport zone and the app tells you that you can fly~100 feet but need to contact ATC. Upon contacting them, they say no flights are allowed as rules have changed since May. (I used to fly here prior to that by letting them know).

  10. Jonathan Chandeck R. on July 24, 2021 at 8:59 pm

I’m new to this laanc, so, after you get authorization from airmap you just go back to Djigo app and you are able to fly??

  11. Kevin Roach on July 24, 2021 at 9:00 pm

Great video and really like the way you explain everything! Keep up the good work!

  12. Gadget Inspector on July 24, 2021 at 9:00 pm

Right now LAANC is primarily for part 107 operators so recreational flyers don’t get authorizations. You can only ‘notify’ of intended flights but you still have to follow FAA airspace rules. However, LAANC authorizations will be available to hobbyists on July 23rd. Here it is from the horse’s mouth:

I just looked into this app, and I need to watch your video when I have the time. I am sure you will offer good insight.

  17. Marc Zendman on July 24, 2021 at 9:07 pm

Outstanding Video! The app will not except my email address when I try to register. Any suggestions?

  18. Aaron Bregg on July 24, 2021 at 9:13 pm

Part way through the video I recognized your in GR also. Did you ever get to film the Switch pyramid? Also can you do an updated video of this for us hobbyists using AirMap. I was up by St. Ignace by the bridge (about 4 miles away) and couldn’t tell if I had clearance so I didn’t fly. 🙁

  19. Tony Palmieri on July 24, 2021 at 9:14 pm

How could you not like this video? I thought it was very well done!!! The only item forgotten was showing how to draw out the airspace around the intended focal point using the "draw" icon but my pea-brain figured it out on its own. Nice job!

  20. Samir Sidki on July 24, 2021 at 9:14 pm

LAANC can’t find in the App Store for my iPhone can you please assist

Thank you very much. This was a great video. I was not able to figure out how to use the air map and lands but with your explanation I was able to do it thank you. I also went to register my Drone. With DFA a. I thought it just cost about R dollars. The lowest price they have missed like 2995. Does anybody know anything about this

Do you know ..If I get approval on the FAA’s Recreational Flyer Airspace Authorizations do (should) I still file a flight plan on Airmap?

  26. Dustin Mead on July 24, 2021 at 9:23 pm

Anyone know about class E2? Trying to get approved through the app and the airport shows orange on the map near ROG in Rogers Arkansas but also shows a red banner and says class e2 requires ATC authorization.. direction? Thanks!

Thanks so much! You sir are a good man.

  29. Calvin R McDaniel, LLC - REALTOR on July 24, 2021 at 9:27 pm

If you are outside of 5m radius of an airport, so no Class E airspace, do you still have to get Laanc authorization to fly in any area as a hobbyist?

  35. RandyBoss on July 24, 2021 at 9:36 pm

What about at night in my house do I need clearance 🤔?

  36. John Reed on July 24, 2021 at 9:36 pm

Thank you! Am I understanding you correctly? As a licensed 107 pilot, in order to film for compensation within restricted airspace (below or above any shelves) I can only submit for a waiver using the FAA website correct? LAANC authorization would not apply since I am being commercially compensated correct? Appreciate the shared wisdom!

    Great video 👍👍👍

  38. Dave Lutz on July 24, 2021 at 9:38 pm

Could you comment on mania authorization for no fly zone. I got approved, received the code, now what do I do? AirMap has to help section or instruction for how to unlock the Mavic Pro to fly with authorization code. Thanks in advance

  39. Tony Andral on July 24, 2021 at 9:38 pm

After getting authorization from Airmap does it automatically sync the Dji Go 4 app to fly or is there another step? Thanks..

I’m from GRR and love to fly my air2 around the areas.

  41. Jadi Tention on July 24, 2021 at 9:41 pm

Can you help me out? It never gives me a conformation of yes or no. Just a countdown begins and I’m not sure if that means if i was approved for the flight or not. Can you help

  42. Strategic Drone Solutions on July 24, 2021 at 9:43 pm

Enjoyed the video. Question, does Airmap work on getting authorizations on airport property (the 0 blocks)? I have a client that wants some footage of their airplane at the airport, but in order to get clearance from the other apps, they are asking for the enterprise profile (~$150/month) which is too expensive for a one man show.

  43. Midwest Masonry Solutions on July 24, 2021 at 9:43 pm

I downloaded airmap but every time I get clearance but my Mavic pro 2 will still not fly in controlled air space.

Great tutorial on the LAANC system. I had downloaded Airmap previously and had no idea that I would be able to request permission through it.
Congratulations on a great channel. I have subscribed. Cheers.

I have not registered with the FAA yet, I am flying my drone in Parks, but thank you for the good information its helpful.

  48. Cal Drake on July 24, 2021 at 9:50 pm

Thank you for an exceptionally clear explanation, with a logical and well spoken lecture. I downloaded the app to my phone, it worked without any effort on my part VERY cool info site. Will review material, as a new potential flyer from the 80’s, the new rules are more demanding, but there are way more flyers who need some controls to avoid serious injury. Joining the ama, and a local field group makes the package complete, and safer for all. Best wishes, and again thanks for the hard work.

  49. Barry Graham on July 24, 2021 at 9:50 pm

I have been as a hobbyist trying to get authorization in New York City and it still says its coming but not here yet. I see you fly in the city why can’t I
