Try the Kittyhawk app for LAANC. It is very nice. Airmap is not really working on my iPhone 11 Pro Max.

  2. Willy Bunao on July 1, 2022 at 7:32 pm

Sir Ken how am i goin to sked exam and what are the requirements i need? Thank you

  3. Austin Wienbar on July 1, 2022 at 7:33 pm

Hey thanks for posting this video very helpful but question what if I am offline want to fly near an airport and let’s say I wanted to get permission to fly but offline don’t have access to airmap what would u do in that situation?

  4. W.E.S. Wesley entertainment studios on July 1, 2022 at 7:36 pm

    I finally did it lol

  5. EGL24Xx on July 1, 2022 at 7:37 pm

How the hell did you get a 107 license if you don’t know how controlled airspace works… Those 400s (around 1:20) indicate the max altitude you can get automatic authorization from LAANC for. You’re right, you’re in the inverted wedding cake, but you’re in the inner ring so you should know that in that region class B starts at the ground. If you flew without authorization where you were, you would have violated class B airspace.

New subscriber and 107 pilot here, thank you for this!

  7. Ken Tomory on July 1, 2022 at 7:44 pm

Ken, I just ran into an issue with LAANC. I’m in an area where a class B and class D – overlap for 2 neighboring airports. LAANC wont give instant authorization here. The FAA said to just submit a written request. Also I have a second area which has LAANC approval, but is also GEO Fenced. I received the instant Authorization but, the GEO Fence is still there. Searching for video on Geo Fence, any dealings with it?

  8. Bill Meador on July 1, 2022 at 7:44 pm

What is this thing I’m seeing on YouTube about now needing DJI approval to fly in controlled airspace in addition to LAANC? B4UFly app says I am clear to fly at a lake shore near our local airport, no authorization needed, but when I look at this Geo Fence Map from DJI the same area is supposedly locked. So if I get LAANC authorization to fly over part of the lake within the FAA controlled space, will I now be blocked by DJI unless I get their approval?

  9. Gaetan Labrie on July 1, 2022 at 7:45 pm

Hi Ken, being new to the world of DJI drone. I recently acquired a Mavic Mini and will be traveling in the US from time to time. Despite that I don’t need any registration or permit, when flying in a airport Zone do I need to do the LAANC aplication request and the Geo Unlock from DJI? Trying to figure this out .

  10. dafish6969 on July 1, 2022 at 7:46 pm

Here it is almost 2020 and still no LAANC for the airport near my home. But don’t call the tower. This is one SLOWWWWWWWWWWWW roll out.

  11. MrJasman on July 1, 2022 at 7:49 pm

So once you get authorization do you have to say within the circle you requested from within the restricted and the non restricted area?

  12. Stephen Smith on July 1, 2022 at 7:49 pm

Lol! You still didn’t fly in controlled airspace. You were underneath the Class B airspace, which is UNCONTROLLED!

  13. S Leal on July 1, 2022 at 7:49 pm

So should I use the laanc or is the DJI go app ok to use for recreational?

  14. joncourage on July 1, 2022 at 7:49 pm

Great vid and great info, thanks Ken. You’ve been a great resource as I’ve started down the drone pilot road for fun and for gain. I’ve recommended you a few times already. If you’re ever in Tampa, let’s fly!

  15. CRS on July 1, 2022 at 7:52 pm

In Europe are the same rules?

  16. Johan renen Campaniel on July 1, 2022 at 7:52 pm

Can you use airmap on other countries

  17. Primus on July 1, 2022 at 7:53 pm

    Ken,
I love your videos. If haven’t already done a video on your video editing equipment, could you share? I’d like to know what type microphones you use while filming, what computer software you edit with etc. I want to do what you do, not on YT, but more for video production (drone-centric) in general for real estate listings etc.

  18. Larry Hack on July 1, 2022 at 7:53 pm

I’m a little confused in that I got approval today through LANNC for a flight tomorrow using my Mavic 1 pro. I applied for the permission on my iPhone but I will not be flying with my iPhone I will be using my Wi-Fi iPad mini . How does DJI go 4 app know that I have authorization using the Kittyhawk app?

It’s close to an airport in class C airspace but I’m afraid I’m gonna get a no-fly when I get there tomorrow. Even though I have permission through Kittyhawk. Can somebody help me put these things together?

  19. Fishing and flying with Tolley on July 1, 2022 at 7:56 pm

I appreciate you that was very helpful

  20. BigFoot on July 1, 2022 at 7:57 pm

What do you do when the airport is not on a laanc?

  21. gary wick on July 1, 2022 at 7:59 pm

Do you have to fly with AirMap app open ?
    I got authorization near ohare
But my drone would not control
    And kept giving me warnings
1st attempt going to keep trying until I figure it out

  22. Hector Ayub on July 1, 2022 at 8:00 pm

As always, all your videos are impeccable, fun and above all very illustrative.
    Thank you Ken!

  23. Prinz Eugen on July 1, 2022 at 8:04 pm

    corona
you are a fucked a stooge

  24. Enrique Rodriguez on July 1, 2022 at 8:04 pm

Do you need to follow these precautions if you have the dji mavic mini?

  25. Mark Romine on July 1, 2022 at 8:04 pm

So if you had moved out of the restricted zone of the airport over to the 100’ ceiling area, just a couple blocks away and gotten LAANC approval would your drone have taken off without DJI authorization? Probably not. So how do you deal with that to be able to get past the DJI GEO fencing restrictions even though you have LAANC authorization when you need to fly immediately as. Part 107 pilot?

  26. Casey Cleveland on July 1, 2022 at 8:05 pm

How does this vid have ANY "unlikes"?? This is a great vid and a front runner for this info. Thanks again, Ken!

  27. Winds Aloft on July 1, 2022 at 8:06 pm

I call my Runway…. a Driveway. And why do we park in driveways? And drive on parkways? LOL good educational video.

  28. LeeJane2009 on July 1, 2022 at 8:06 pm

Lol, I go dizzy too! Will try rewinding next time 😂👍

  30. Josue De La O on July 1, 2022 at 8:08 pm

Like that you are part of the ROTARY family apart the drone fam.

  31. Charles A. Ragucci on July 1, 2022 at 8:08 pm

Thanks, Ken I’m going to give this a try!

  32. Steve Phelan on July 1, 2022 at 8:09 pm

Question: Would you have been given permission as a hobbyist without a107 for that same flight?

  33. Daniel Johnson on July 1, 2022 at 8:09 pm

Thanks Ken for showing us how to fly legally and set up flight plans. Very big help! You have put out the best instructional videos in my opinion so far.

  34. Coby Randal on July 1, 2022 at 8:12 pm

Thank you for showing what app to use and how this system works. The FAA website was not clear about this. Also, your drone footage is very smooth. Did you do any video processing to enhance smoothness?

  35. nate pate on July 1, 2022 at 8:12 pm

Ken can you file with FAA to get clearance?

  36. Dragon Air Photography on July 1, 2022 at 8:13 pm

Thanks Ken! Did my first real estate job with LAANC last week. Easy peasy! I have been told there are instances where you have to get DJI to unblock the geo fence as well. Have you had to do that? Also, I understand the FAA and Kittyhawk are now in kahoots and it’s the preferred app for this. Any insight on that?

  37. Emmett C. on July 1, 2022 at 8:14 pm

lol for like 2 or 3 years ive thought im in a controlled airspace and now I checked and im good. Thanks for the good videos.

  38. Doug Gould on July 1, 2022 at 8:16 pm

Hey Ken, I got FAA Cert of Waiver to fly near my Class C in 3 weeks. Using Kittyhawk to get LAANC authorization was always rejected, with a note to apply to FAA directly. I did and got the authorization. So, how do I enter that into either my Mavik Pro or the Kittyhawk app so I can fly the mission on the authorized day?

  39. Timmy the Woo on July 1, 2022 at 8:17 pm

ok, however, WHY you feel the need to do this, other than having a good reason. Isn’t there "Plenty" of WORLD to fly your drone?

  40. JUNEORJUNE on July 1, 2022 at 8:17 pm

WHAT IF WANNA FLY OUTSIDE OF THE BLUE AREA, WOULD I NEED AUTHORIZATION?

  41. Carlos Garcia on July 1, 2022 at 8:18 pm

Ken, I just started using the AirMap app and I got a verification code from AirMap. Where do I input that code in the app?

  42. junior centeno on July 1, 2022 at 8:20 pm

Is this app for dji drones only or is it for all drones.

  43. Super T on July 1, 2022 at 8:20 pm

Can you use LAANC with a unregister drone like a Dj Mavic Mini?

  44. RGMG on July 1, 2022 at 8:21 pm

Great stuff….just passed the 107 exam and knew there had to be an easier way to submit this stuff. Nothing related to the LAANC System comes up in the exam so this is great stuff! Thanks Ken!

  45. souocara38 on July 1, 2022 at 8:21 pm

Hey Ken I have an idea but I never know how to make my ideas work so I’m giving it to you. Invent a mechanical hand for our drones that can wave to the people who wave to us. Don’t you have the urge to wave back when people are waving at your drone?? Lol

  46. Drone Everything on July 1, 2022 at 8:24 pm

All you had to do is hand Launch it from the parking garage

  47. A Bennett on July 1, 2022 at 8:26 pm

I completely a profile at airmap.com, but the app won’t let me login.

  48. Caleb Guffey on July 1, 2022 at 8:27 pm

I use Kittyhawk to get LANNC it is really easy to use too.

  49. Eddie Solis on July 1, 2022 at 8:28 pm

Would I be able to use this on base to get videos of the static displays on base?

  50. NHILL Productions on July 1, 2022 at 8:31 pm

Thanks for the great video. Don’t call the tower…LOL!!!!
