How to pass the FAA Part 107 Exam in 2021

How to pass the FAA Part 107 Exam in 2021

Here’s just about all the resources I used for the FAA Part 107 drone pilot test. Also known officially as the “Unmanned Aircraft General – Small” (UAG) test. I hope this serves as a good source of information for someone looking to get their Part 107 Remote Pilot certification. Again, I passed with a 93% in early 2021 after studying for about 2 weeks (but everyone learns at their own pace). Take your time…don’t burn yourself out and don’t give up! Best of luck and thanks for watching!

Start here first and know what you’re getting yourself into/what all is involved to get this certification:

I suggest reading through the study guide first, then watching these videos below:

Thank you so much for all those links. My mom was a pilot, so I will review her charts. I have been a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer for over 20 years and those national tests were tough. Just like you I find it helpful to study by writing information down. I also found it helpful to write notes on 3×5 cards to review. It was also good that you took a week off of studying to allow the information and concepts to absorb. One last thing for anyone taking tests, on the day of the test do not eat fatty foods – it will slow your mental recall and above all, eat lightly.

I passed with an 80% so happy and I used nothing but YouTube videos to pass so happy right now good luck to everyone taking it because they definitely have questions pertaining to Category 1 or Category 2 aircraft? Which I never saw before and a couple on emergency procedures

So, When you were ready to take the test – once you called a test coordinator to set up a test, how long did you have wait? From the time you called to the date of the test?

Thank you for the insight! I’m at the point you were at the week prior- unclear on some concepts. Just absorbing as much info as I can for now. Thank you for the links too! You have helped us a lot.

  13. Nolan on November 20, 2021 at 10:15 am

After this test is there another test you need to take to get your pilots license? You mentioned some day you might try to get your pilots license but I thought that this was the test for that.

Thank you. Very helpful. We put a deposit down for Skydio2 and our wait time is about 45 days. We also put a deposit down for a class B RV Pleasure-Way OnTour 2.0 in October of 2020. After about 6 months of waiting, we will pick it up around middle of April of 2021. We want to use drones footage in our videos which is why we are looking to study for the certificate. We just subscribed to your channel hoping you will get 1k subscribers soon. We love visiting Arizona.

"Runway 13 means would be taking off to the Southeast" you said this wrong and would cause people to miss the question. Taking off and landing on runway 13 means you would be taking off/landing to the NORTHWEST.

Are they mostly self explanatory questions?

  26. dougleclair on November 20, 2021 at 10:33 am

Passed with an 87% today. Spent so much time going over the runway 13 downwind left direction concept, calculating density altitudes, and ended up not getting a single math/calculation question. I should have spent more time going over weather theory. I’m like you, I get the stable air, unstable air and cloud formations confused. I got a lot of the new remote ID questions (a question about ADS-B Out, and airspace restrictions for flying without remote ID), flying over people (Category 1-4), and night flying, some of which I hadn’t even seen on the practice tests. It’s hard, and they do word things to trick you, particularly if you are trying to memorize answers instead of concepts, but it is manageable. I think the FAA doesn’t want people cramming off a YouTube video over a weekend. Do your prep and studying and you’ll get it.

  27. Jeff Whiting on November 20, 2021 at 10:33 am

Thank you for this video! I’ve decided to go ahead and take the test, and I think I’m going to try it on my own first. It seems like there are a lot of good free resources out there.

  29. Robert Villa jr. Filmmaker | Director on November 20, 2021 at 10:34 am

How many hours per day did you study over that 2 week timeline?

  30. Digimatic life on November 20, 2021 at 10:37 am

Good job on passing with that score! I’m taking mine in a week and have been studying hard for a week now. I studied for it last year but never took the test. I also agree with taking notes, it has helped me remember a lot of information. I even drew up some mock sectional charts. I have also found it fun and interesting learning about aviation and what pilots have to know.

Just finished my private pilot checkride. I’ve heard a lot of the information is similar between the tests. Would part 107 be pretty easy to roll into after finishing private pilot?

Nice video. Thank you for sharing your experience and tips. I think every sUAV owner should take (or at least study for) the 107. There is a wealth of knowledge the average person has no clue about.
