How to Pass FAA Part 107 – 1 WEEK

How to Pass FAA Part 107 – 1 WEEK

In this video I’ll outline the method I used to pass the FAA’s Small UAS Part 107 Certification. There is a ton of information on the internet about this exam but I strongly recommend using the REMOTEPILOT-101 Course for the most current and updated training material. This video outlines how I passed this exam in 1 short week.

  4. Matt Wittman on September 1, 2021 at 10:16 pm

Another thing to remember is "free" information on youtube isn’t always accurate information as it pertains to the regulations.

  5. Lil Six 6 on September 1, 2021 at 10:18 pm

Question Ron, does the course provide the FAA FINAL EXAM? Or must you take the FAA final exam elsewhere ?

You canโ€™t get most jobs with out insurance and part 107 you need those to do business and also more if you want to make a company it cost more to market and get your name out there.

Will this be still useful in 2021?….

  15. PortEL Gate 9 on September 1, 2021 at 10:31 pm

Posting drone videos flying on YouTube without a part 107 license is not a grey area since YouTube is considered a business. Itโ€™s illegal and you will get talked to.

Studying is the most important thing because you want to be able to understand the actual content. You want to be able to fly safely and not put anybody else or yourself at risk. I do believe that there is enough material online for free if someone takes the time to actually study. Not everyone needs a long time to study. Some people do. You will need to know the rules for small aircraft, helicopters, and large Commercial airliners as well. You will need to know how to read and interpret aviation maps and weather reports. You will be responsible for knowing the longitude and latitude on the maps. You will the required to know all of your local and Federal laws. You will be required to understand the remote ID laws and the changes that are coming up for the FAA drone rules. If you study and care about the results then you will Pass the test. Good luck everyone.

Jesus Christ. So I have to be a fucking pilot for this hobby, because practically most uses are considered 107 operation by the FAA.

  23. WayneWrz on September 1, 2021 at 10:49 pm

    Great information, thanks for sharing.

  24. Ben Rodi on September 1, 2021 at 10:51 pm

Thanks for making this! How long did it take for your license to come in the mail?

  25. Mark Larson on September 1, 2021 at 10:52 pm

Something to be aware of, once there has been a serious incident with a drone and Commercial or private aircraft where human life has been lost all licenses will be terminated.

  26. Rogue Productions on September 1, 2021 at 10:55 pm

Great vid! Going to get this for my company!

  27. J ST on September 1, 2021 at 10:55 pm

Congrats Ron! I passed 2 years ago and now preparing for the retake. I also used the FAA youtube site and page for info but did not use any online course. For me they seem to be a waste of money. Not really sharing anything you can already find at the FAA site. I use their site, videos on YouTube on weather and VFR charts and Googles UAS107 app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uas107.openrobotix.labs). Pass on my first exam with a 92%. Will likely use this method again. Total cost for me $156 (exam fee and Google app).

  30. Cat Fight Central on September 1, 2021 at 10:56 pm

Thanks for sharing Ron! I followed some of your methods and past also. Took me about 10 days of study. I did watch videos on airspace mostly and VFR charts. I also used Google’s UAS107 app ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uas107.openrobotix.labs&hl=en_US) for further prep. Past with 92%. Done!

Never had anybody ask for it. 150 bucks every two years. Waste of money in my opinion.

  33. Room156 Drone Vids on September 1, 2021 at 11:00 pm

Awesome! Iโ€™m going to look into them. I want to get the part 107 cert. this year and do it soon. Thank you

  34. ZY MX25 on September 1, 2021 at 11:02 pm

The practice tests on the web are easy … I can get 98% on them …. But, I took the Recurrent Yesterday … It was MUCH Harder than the Original where I got 93% …. The recurrent test got 73% …. mostly map stuff … several Lat/Long … Victor Airways above the ground … Good Luck.

I love having new goals to reach and this one hits close since I love flying the Mavic Air.
    Thanks! ๐Ÿ™‚

  38. Leith McGuire on September 1, 2021 at 11:03 pm

So in order to get 107 certified you never need to actually show that you can fly a drone? Just paperwork and testing?

  39. NJ DRONER on September 1, 2021 at 11:04 pm

Congratulations. Where in NJ did you take exam. I’m in north jersey

  40. Southern Sawyer 's on September 1, 2021 at 11:06 pm

Congrats on the pass. I also used remote pilot101 to pass .still have a year before having to do the retest . I hear itโ€™s not as bad .

  41. TheAlphaPyro on September 1, 2021 at 11:07 pm

Does a person need to get a part 107 for commercial flying for a drone under 250g according to FAA? I know you dont normally need to register it for hobby. The way the FAA phrases stuff on their site makes it confusing. If it does not need to be registered would it then be possible to fly at night commercially with something like the new Mavic mini?

  42. Narrow Deep on September 1, 2021 at 11:07 pm

Hi. Ive been listening to the Tony Northrop video on and off for months now. Feel good about it, but happened across your video here and your reasoning on how/why to spend a little money to seal the deal made sense to me. Used heron18 and indeed appreciate the significant discount. Thank you.

  44. jeff5048 on September 1, 2021 at 11:08 pm

DONโ€™T WATCH! I regret wasting 11 minutes of my life watching this infomercial for a 107 training program. Thereโ€™s absolutely nothing about the test content in this video. Donโ€™t waste your time.

  45. Matt Wittman on September 1, 2021 at 11:08 pm

Just posting a video on a non monetized youtube or social media is considered commercial use. If an audience other than you is going to view your work, it’s considered commercial. That’s what the FAA told me. I was also told that taking photos and videos alone shows an intention to post to social media and a license is needed. This info came from the guys at FAA’s dronezone website.

  46. Lance Harlin on September 1, 2021 at 11:09 pm

The FAA slags a study guide. Not trying to knock your hustle but there are a lot of free study guides/material out there.

  47. Benny Benitez on September 1, 2021 at 11:09 pm

Well itโ€™s not like the FCC Ham radio license exams as those are memorization of questions and answers.

  48. Dom Diggity on September 1, 2021 at 11:11 pm

As of March 2021 to retest all you need to do is go online and take the online training on FAA website

  49. Whatever Keeps You Calm on September 1, 2021 at 11:12 pm
