How to Hide From Drones: Lessons Learned in Modern War

EDIT 24SEP2021 – Again, for some reason, this video from a year ago is now getting recommended by youtube’s algorithms. It’s strange to us as well, but just keep in mind that this video is one of our very first on Youtube, and that we have other videos that discuss aerial surveillance as well.

How to evade multispectral surveillance:
How to evade electronic surveillance:
How to evade Synthetic Aperture Radar:

In this episode, we take a quick look at concealment methods that can be used to hide from SUAS platforms.

Dumb question from a civilian here. O.K., avoid making cell phone/radio calls when you are under cover … well, you know how we civilians are with our phones … they have navigation apps and things that can track us. In a scenario like this, wouldn’t you need to have your phone shut down completely? Or would even that be inadequate?

  2. ssunkite1 on July 14, 2022 at 7:44 pm

Imagine a camouflage made out of mirror tiles or advanced LCD tiles that pick up images from below and reflect on the opposite side.

  3. marlboro9tibike on July 14, 2022 at 7:45 pm

Dont forget kids. When you want to practice airsoft, camouflage yourself as old woman and your rifle as a broom.

  4. Mario Ortega Sr on July 14, 2022 at 7:47 pm

Seeing the Russian troop clustered and the video with drone in the title has me thinking "why don’t we supply Ukraine with M18(A1)) Claymores and disposable drones and mate them to fire down on the enemy in the open?" as the upcoming Donbass fighting will have more concentrations like this ultimately. Drones of the $500-$700 class can carry this sort of load. If the "pellets" were made of ceramic instead of metal they would certainly be able to carry the load. Get to it US (NATO) -Ukraine Drone forces.

I have someone coming tomorrow to paint racing stripes and flames on my camo tomorrow, is this not wise

  6. Matthew on July 14, 2022 at 7:51 pm

No offense, but the USA has no experience with us hiding from drones or evading them. We may want to get the Taliban on line to let them talk….

  7. Steve Margolis on July 14, 2022 at 7:51 pm

With all this. All the Russians were lined up in plain site. Why didn’t any of this work? 25 miles of Russian army and equip could have been wiped out right then. You opinion what the hell happened?

  8. Tube Guy on July 14, 2022 at 7:51 pm

I’ve heard of the police using a drone to find some guy’s chicken coup and fine him since they are illegal in the city where he lived

  9. Drone Dynasty on July 14, 2022 at 7:53 pm

Camouflage is quoted in William Shakespeares McBeth bringing Birnam Wood to Dunsinane. The soldiers tie leafs & branch’s to their backs.

  10. Ozzie climate refo on July 14, 2022 at 7:53 pm

Makes sense that video is popping up now given what the fuck is going on. People are thinking about this stuff a lot more.

  11. Hollydogfarms on July 14, 2022 at 7:54 pm

What do think about ASAT hunting camo?

  12. Kansas Kitty on July 14, 2022 at 7:56 pm

Thank you so much for making this video…! Very interesting and life saving…!💖

  13. David on July 14, 2022 at 7:56 pm

The dude on the roof is an idiot in this mass shooting enviorment. I applaud the police force that acted on the images! Defending this kind of behavior is the mentality that will get our guns taken. Common sense should override our sense of constitutional protection.

  14. Chris Skinner on July 14, 2022 at 7:58 pm

    No signal no drone

  16. seven7ns on July 14, 2022 at 7:58 pm

take a large umbrella, black or green, cover the inside with aluminum foil. If a helicopter with thermal imaging cameras comes over, open the umbrella and crouch under it and you are invisible.

  17. Paul Reid on July 14, 2022 at 7:59 pm

Wow, this video was ahead of its time. Correct on all fronts, everything mentioned in this video is happening today. Seems these lessons are being learned only now, on a war of larger scale.

  18. CrowDawg11 on July 14, 2022 at 7:59 pm

This is a drastic shift from the 2008 era Marine Corps. We actually got our asses chewed for attempting to camouflage our helmets the way the Brits do (muh uNiFoRmItY), but now they’ve actually got doctrine specifically saying to do it.

  25. Alex Frederick on July 14, 2022 at 8:07 pm

You wanna talk stealth, get in touch with successful narco smugglers and manufacturers.

They use it effectively every day against several governments in almost every aspect. Camouflaging a manufacturing camp, on down to how to mail something with stealth to hide what’s inside.

They have to employ it to have any success in their chosen profession.

  26. Thomas Walker Lynch on July 14, 2022 at 8:09 pm

The analysis is simple. The execution is difficult.

  32. Pepper Provasnik on July 14, 2022 at 8:20 pm

It was the US that started the drone warfare. The program started by Brennan and Obama actually influenced or was directly shared with Isis

  33. Jerry-Lee Hanson on July 14, 2022 at 8:20 pm

S2 I have a home made drone downer, it works to jam their RF…. I can’t say what it looks like or what HZ is used, but it works on most ( all I have encountered) commercial drone RF’s

  34. Kamandzir on July 14, 2022 at 8:21 pm

Russia could learn from this video

  35. Stephen Clarke on July 14, 2022 at 8:22 pm

If were living in a world where "your mere presence is seen as a threat", we are living undoubtably in a police state ❗️So lets sort our own countries out first, before turning to others ❗️After all, aren’t we supposed to be living in a free society ❓This is NOT freedom, and its hardly what I’d call democratic either.

  36. Allen Hamilton on July 14, 2022 at 8:24 pm

    Not helpful at all.

  37. Katya5cat on July 14, 2022 at 8:25 pm

Get a bunch of blowup sex dolls, some RC monster trucks, fill the dolls with hot air or tape heat packs to them, remote control them as a diversion.

  40. John 100 on July 14, 2022 at 8:29 pm

How will you even know a drone is in the sky? You got to come out in the open sooner or later and if you cant find them, you cant avoid them.

  41. John H on July 14, 2022 at 8:30 pm

At 11:20 is posted a list of things to do to hide from drones… most people are either unprepared, can’t move what they want to hide, or can’t do for follow most of those steps… those are "combat or criminal evade and hide" situations… and that you are fully equipped to even do everything on that list… and this doesn’t even address the possible use of infrared detection.

  49. NoName on July 14, 2022 at 8:40 pm

So what we now know is that no one from Russia watched this video
