HOW TO FLY YOUR DRONE IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
HOW TO FLY YOUR DRONE IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
You can fly your drone in Punta Cana after getting a permit from the IDAC. Just be sure to fly safe and follow all of the countries rules and regulations. Remember, you are a guest in another country, don’t abuse your rights. If you do not follow my guide, you will be ruining it for all future drone pilots. Please follow the rules so drones are not banned throughout the world. Also, make sure to transport your drone safely, it’s very important.

Hi Nic, which airline did you take? and where did you get permit for your drone? planning a trip to DR next month and I want to bring my drone. I already got permission from the hotel that they’ll allow me to fly my drone there.
Roll some money his way and he would forget about seeing it.
Hi, I’m heading to Punta Cana next month, and would like to fly my Spark. Could you please send the PDF to me too? mrodrigo@terra.com.br Tks
I would fly any drones without any paper work. Eso policia que hablen mierda eso ladronaso.
Just curious Nick how did you pack your drone to take it DR? Carry on or regular luggage?
Did you have to send your passport copied before you ask for further information because of the registration? will that be really safe?
man next tim just giv 10 dollarr to the security guys. thats his real job make money with tourist.
Hi Nick. Could you send an example of the Drone Recovery and Risk Mitigage document you used? My mail is russosanti@hotmail.com. Thxs in advance
You dont need a permit if your flying a spark or mavic, you only need a permit if your drone weighs more than 55lb its on the PDF (page 5 Article 3 a) rules and regulations …. I’ve been to DR a few times, all you had to do is pull the security to the side and gave him $10 and i bet he will leave you alone
Hey Nick, I’m going to the DR in April, can you send me the English paperwork for the permit for using a drone. How long does it take to get a response back?
I flew my drone in DR and nobody told me anything 🤭
I know it’s been a while, any chance you still have the English version of the permit? If so , can you email it to me please? Awesome channel and great advise on flying in the DR
Thanks Nick!
Very useful video and information for me as traveler! Also very beautiful footage
Hey Nick! Great video!! Going to D.R soon. Can you email me English version of permit? dmark923@gmail.com
Hey Nick! Can you email me the form? Please! slevin7272@gmail.com
I have some questions , I tell you that I will travel to Punta Cana in october and I want to take my Dji Spark there .
I want to help me please.
My questions are … Do I need some permission?, Who do I have to contact?, When did you arrive at the airport, did they tell you something about carrying a drone?, How did you take your drone? the batteries apart? or in the large suitcase or hand luggage?
I want to take my drone there but I need information
thank you very much
I hope your reply
Hey Nick, I am heading to DR this upcoming Tuesday and would like to fly my Phantom 4 Pro. Could you possibly forward me the document you filled out in advance? I am also going to message the resort to see if I can get written permission to fly as a hobbyist.
Hi. Great video. Do you need any permission to use drone in Dominican Republic?
Check out my drone videos. There will be more soon.
Hi Nick, Thanks for this video. Very informative. I am traviling to Punta Cana in April 2018. I have a Mavic Pro and from what I can make out, its exempt. Where can I find this information so I can print and take this with me? Thanks in advance!
Man forget about legal paperwork in DR. All you had to do is grease that security guards palms.. A $10 US green back would have done the trick. That’s more than a wholes days salary.
hi nick i want to take my gopro karma which only weighs 2.2 pounds so doesnt need a permit , but im worried about them holding it at the airport for duty payments, how can i avoid this ? thanks
Hi Nick.
We will travel to Punta Cana in March. So: we need this permit, and permit from the hotel, and maybe give 10 dollars to the security guard? We have Phantom 3 professional. Could you send the pdf? I have to filli it and send back to IDAC?
Many thanks!
Put your Thinking Caps on. Hahaha.
Great info Nick.
I also flew my drone in the Dominican Republic. After research, I chose to fly with a “Dominican sandwich” in my pocket.
A Dominican sandwich is as follows:
1) IDAC permit, like you showed. I got mine in advance of my trip. Note, the application is only available in Spanish but a free phone app from Google helped me translate it to English. Print your permit, fold it up and keep it in your pocket. Someone else posted the permit may not be required based on your drone weight, but it’s free so why not get it.
2) Email your resort in advanced and get written permission from the resort. Print this too.
3) $10 bill.
If/when security approaches you, hand them all three with the $10 bill in the middle. If they ask about the $10 (it’s unlikely they will ask) tell them you are thankful for them, for their wisdom that you have all necessary government and resort permission and it’s OK for you to fly and the $10 is a “gratuity” from you to them to show your gratitude for their help and dedication.
Dominican Republic security make about $10/day. You will be left alone after this.
It’s just how their 3rd world culture works.
Hi Nick,
Thanks for the video! In short I’m travelling to Punta Cana a week tomorrow and have just purchased a DJI Mavic Mini and although it weights 249g I would like to have a copy of the document in English if possible? I’ve subscribed to your Chanel as I know this helps. Thanks again! Zack
hi Nick,
Can you send me also the PDF form for this? already subscribed to your channel great work
Thanks for the pointers….flying mavic soon at punta cana
Damn dude.. That guy was being racist towards you cuz you’re white & in a fancy place.. Wanted to muscle you around. I would have told him to call the cops & show them your legal document.. Nice footage by the way!
Yo, IDAC rules only apply to heavy drones. Phantom/Mavic series is exempt.
I’m heading to the dominican republic in a week, do you mind sending me the pdf so i can fly my drone there.
We are traveling to Bavaro Beach next week, we would like to shooting Punta Cana beach
Nick Sylvester I plan on going to punta Cana March 2018 and wanted to bring my drone. I am just hearing about this permit. Are they serious you still can’t fly your drone even with the permit? If you don’t mind could I get a blank copy of that permit
hey nick thank you for the great video. where can man download the document so that man can send it back IDAC? or would it be possible that you could send it to me by e-mail?
Greetings Dario
Hey, Thanks for the info! I am going to Punta Cana soon and this was very helpful! But i dont know what I have to do when I go to the website, do I just send them an email or search something about drones? Can you help me please.
hi nick could you send me the pdf email please? my email is rob-d@hotmail.co.uk – many thanks
Idac website can be read english language?
Name of the song?
Subscribed and liked
Can you please send the pdf to jprgee@gmail.com
Thanks!
If anyone needs the IDAC Document stating that drones weighing less than 2kg (e.g Mavic Air) do NOT need a permit, here is the link. scroll to the bottom and the link to the document is there. IF customs tries to confiscate the drone or whatever, show them this document and im sure it will be enough proof to say it is ok to bring in. 🙂 https://uavcoach.com/drone-laws-in-dominican-republic/
Hi Nick, great video. I’m off to Punta Cana in a few weeks, 4th time in DR but the first with my Mavic. Please could you send me the pdf in English re the permit – edmonds217@hotmail.co.uk Much appreciated.
