Check the operating hours of the tower. Many (not all) towers close overnight, and their Class D (controlled) airspace reverts to Class G (uncontrolled). LAANC will not be available when the tower is closed, since it is not applicable in uncontrolled airspace.

Amazing video and great information as always.

There are some basic rules of operation that everyone should follow to ensure safety. For this purpose, the FAA suggests that you learn the rules before getting started.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) would like to have complete control over the sky, and its administrators want to decide when you can fly your drones or your remote controlled aircraft in the sky, and especially after dark.  The FAA would also like to use big data analytics to track down the pilots that dare to fly their toys in spite of their regulations.
The current FAA regulations are stopping companies and consumers from using new aerial technology that could revolutionize how we communicate and explore our world. In addition to consumer drones like those from DJI, 3D Robotics (3DR), and GoPro, they also prevent hobbyist or DIY-type drones from being used.
It is hard to ignore the concern over the FAA’s new rules on UAV flights in controlled airspace.
Since the FAA’s restrictive rules are a command-and-control approach, they are effectively an ex post facto law. They very often make it illegal to do something after that activity has occurred. That is, it creates new crimes that did not exist before, for which the FAA develops a punishment after-the-fact. What this means is that if you defy the FAA’s "rules" and have a harmless flying drone, it will be considered "public endangerment" or some such nonsense.

If you think that the government can (totalitarian) control the sky, then you think that the government can control everything. This is a myth; a fantasy.

All of you guys(rhetoric, not inferred towards this awesome channel or the viewers) that want to "regulate" the sky should be ashamed of yourselves. The FAA is not a government agency with full authority over the blue sea and everything in it. This is just an extension on a deeply rooted problem in government: Bureaucracy.

Thanks for the video Keith, I’m sure we all appreciate it. It’s definitely good to know a trick or two when it comes to flying in a controlled environment.
