We also talk through best practices in assembling your racing quad. We are planning to document an actual build in a later video, but this video is designed to help you select the right components and plan before you build. nice explanation thanks. one suggestion though. around 17 mins you talk about camera and mention CMOS and CCD and say it doesnt matter. I see a lot of video’s saying you should avoid CMOS at all costs…. maybe add this as an overlay tip?

Wow thanks so much guys this video series will really help. Sub and liked.. I do have one question this vid is a year & 1/2 old now and in racing drone time that can be a lot. Would you recommend any other equipment upgrades over your current recommendations? Especially in the FPV transmitter receiver area or is this stuff still really good stuff?

I was thinking of buying the best FPV stuff so I could move it along to new frames as I go. That might be a bad idea if you think I might destroy the gear as I learn. lol
    Thanks again..

Thanks for the vids. I’m a noob, and the one thing I cannot find is setting up the channels on a redio transmitter. I too have an fpv racer with a cc3d, but I cannot find a guide on setting up the transmitter. Please help! I have a 9xr Pro, but that shouldn’t matter much.

Hi, can you help me with my quadcopter.
I’m making it on QAV 250 frame. I am using 2300kv brushless motors, 12A ESC and 5inch triple blade propellers.
I’m using Arducopter 2.5 as flight controller and 3 cell LiPo 11.5V battery.
For transmitter I’m using Flysky 2.4 Ghz 6 Channel transmitter.

The problem is that I am getting enough thrust to lift the quadcopter but the problem is that it is not getting balanced in the air and it trips. While programming APM Planner says, "Compass not healthy."

can you please help me with this problem.

    Regards Anuj

Also, since technology can change drastically in as little as 6 months, is the video still current? Or, have all these parts etc. become obsolete?

  22. B Smith on July 14, 2021 at 12:17 am

Sorry to The poster of this video but this is very important and please do not take down my comment, thanks. In the Untied States you must have a Ham radio license to fly FPV. If you do not believe me here is the link
http://www.propwashed.com/need-amateur-radio-ham-license-fly-fpv/. I am putting this out there because if people Flying FPV in the US do not get licensed then eventually the US will ban FPV. So please if your going to fly FPV in the US get a Ham license.

  23. Steven Yusufov on July 14, 2021 at 12:19 am

If I wanted to build this, following your guide, and skipping the part where you setup the FPV, would the quad still be functioning?

  24. Matthew Wilson on July 14, 2021 at 12:19 am

So ready to get into this. Start to price things out and begin accumulating parts for my first build.

  50. James Keough on July 14, 2021 at 12:51 am

This is a good intro video. I would suggest slowing down a bit and not talking over one another, especially when giving out part names and numbers! Some parts are listed in description, but several are missing: transmitter, antenna, camera. You have to assume your audience knows nothing!
