I feel like the new people to the hobby should get a pre-built quad like the Eachine Wizard. That’s what I did at least

  2. Jordan Bass on August 25, 2020 at 10:26 am

I just wanted to post that everything I buy comes to me broken or not working now this is not normal for everyone but I’ve been trying to build a quad 4 months now and every time I get something that I’m waiting on by the time I get the working part something else goes bad I couldn’t get a flight controller that would work every F3 I had was shorting out going bad wouldn’t connect to betaflight exedra I finally get a working one then my PDP isn’t working right so then I order a pdb I finally get one working and then an ESC goes out so I order all new esc`s now my pdb isn’t working again??? I ordered all new parts abandoned all the old ones new frame everything…… Same issues there’s always one part that doesn’t work why the time I order a new one something else doesn’t work I just wanted to remind some people that not everyone has a good experience with this hobby while I absolutely love to fly and I’m obsessed with it this hobby has been absolutely very very upsetting and frustrating not to mention a lot of the stuff I ordered was from banggood or gearbest in when you order something bad or faulty from them they just ignore you or don’t care or offer you $20 because if you called Pay Pal and file a claim they will tell you you have to mail the item back and to send a quadcopter back to China is like 75 or $85 they will only refund $30 of your shipping there was one month I ordered three ready to fly quadcopters in all three came to me not working and back then I didn’t know what to do to fix them so I literally just took the parts off of them and kept them threw the rest away what I’m getting at is not everyone can just order a kit or the parts you need to build a quadcopter and it goes smoothly there are tons and tons and tons of issues with this hobby that I don’t see people talking about unless it’s just kind of really uncommon and maybe it’s just me having bad luck I’m not really an unlucky person so I don’t understand why every single thing I buy that has to do with drones comes to me messed up I had to buy five different FRSKY taranis just to get the one I have now the first to wear messed up the third one had a cracked screen the fourth one froze and locked up when I was flashing the firmware in the fifth one works perfectly but can you imagine having to buy and send back a transmitter five different times also all of the micros I’ve ordered off of line the little tiny Luke style ones all of them have come to me not working at all and cannot get them to fly I’ve spent over $1,000 on ready to fly quadcopter is that I’ve come to me not working so I decided I will never do that again and only build my own in the future only to find out that all of the electronic parts on ordering like my maytech pdb or my SP racing flight controller Come to Me Dead on Arrival half the time is this normal or am I just cursed there has to be other people out there experiencing the same thing I am just tons of bad luck in this hobby that I can not give up or quit on because I’m obsessed with it I fly my Simulator 3 hours a day so I can sort of feel like I’m flying but I’m almost at the point of tears that I just no matter what I do no matter how careful I am and even though I’m doing all the steps correctly I’m not soldering things on the wrong side or shorting things out I would understand that that needs to be replaced and that’s not such a big deal it’s easy to figure out but when I’m doing everything correctly step by step I can’t figure out why they just stopped working or they don’t work at all

Everything is disposable….including the pilot. 🙂 HQprops explode before you take them out of the package.

Great bro fantastic advice! Ill be following you from now on! Thanks!

  8. TiagoTiago on August 25, 2020 at 10:32 am

I know there isn’t much that can be done about batteries, but is there any compromises that can be done to reduce the disposability of the quad?

  9. Simon Snee on August 25, 2020 at 10:35 am

Good honest advice, watch and think about how much you want to spend, work with in your bugget but don`t be a cheapskate… 🙂

  10. Alex Dalton on August 25, 2020 at 10:38 am

Eachine wizard x220 rtf and Kylin vision googles excellent starting quad and googles around 400 dollars for all but just one battery … you’re gonna want more batteries but hay your flying …

  11. Juan Rodriguez on August 25, 2020 at 10:39 am

I recently purchased the Schumacher 1200 amp battery charger from walmart($99). it’s great for charging batteries in the field. I’ve seen a couple of guys from my group using it and we all love it. plus it can also start you car on a cold morning(but…charging lipos is more important lol)

  12. ryan todd on August 25, 2020 at 10:40 am

Great advice for new guys. The only thing I disagree on breaking more stuff when you first start out than you when you’re 1 or 2 years in. It seems the better I get, the more shit I break because I’m flying at much higher speeds so when something goes sideways… I’m replacing multiple components at a time, lol

  13. Teemu Ahmaoja on August 25, 2020 at 10:40 am

where/how i can get pair of your hand made antennas, rhcp ?? JC tell me.

  14. Juergen Stremmler on August 25, 2020 at 10:41 am

The advice to place one or two orders a month is not correct for hobbyists outside US! If you do that, then you will be hit by customs. In the EU e.g. normally one has to pay minimum 19% import tax, if your order is above $ 28. As I am buying everythig with Hobbyking, Aliexprss, Banggood, e.t.c. directly in China I am trying to optimize overall costs. And with Banggood and Aliexpress I only place orders at stores with "free delivery’!

  15. i leik pi on August 25, 2020 at 10:41 am

How do you get all of a quads parts for 80-180$ even when I try and get the cheapest but decent things I can buy if still ends up being around 200

  16. Schumata on August 25, 2020 at 10:41 am

…and a shit load of zip ties and m3 screws. 🙂

  17. MaxRei on August 25, 2020 at 10:43 am

I just spent 500€ on a pretty high-end quad with 5 batteries and 20 spare props. Do you think this is a good price for all of the parts for a quad, the batteries and the props?

  18. Coolwater Hubby on August 25, 2020 at 10:45 am

Hi PBF what’s your recommendation on flysky radio , one with telemetry or not . thanks

  19. Cory Smith on August 25, 2020 at 10:46 am

  20. Timothy Lowe on August 25, 2020 at 10:46 am

Great vid bro! I started with a realacc x210 kit for 115$, then a runcam and eachine vtx then some 50$ eachine goggles that work, a qx7 taranis, and some infinity batteries. Now I am working on getting the money to build an awk 210. Thanks JC, projectbluefalcon. You got a lot of shoutouts on bulbuffets channel!

I’ve been flying quads/FPV for 7 months now. Flew about 300 battries on 2 different aircraft.. I feel *your advice here is SPOT on*. NOTE to viewers – did you hear him say you will CRASH a lot? Your videos are GREAT. Thank you for ALL the hard work you do JC. -Cole

  22. Tommy Smith on August 25, 2020 at 10:51 am

Excellent information. I really try to have spare parts, I do. But, every time I have a good supply of spares, I realize all I need is a frame and I have a new quad. Next thing you know I have a new quad and I’m explaining to my wife why I need new spare parts… ah, the price we pay. Thanks JC

  23. Laughing Man on August 25, 2020 at 10:51 am

Great advice as usual, I’d add a multimeter, battery cell checker, set of small wrenches, heat shrink tubing, 12-18 awg silicone wire, XT60 connecters, solder removal tool… you’re right this goes on forever.

  29. Pilotgeek on August 25, 2020 at 10:58 am

  36. brett keen on August 25, 2020 at 11:04 am

guys please remember that for the most part that lipo batteries are safe, but shit happens so invest in a safe box that you can store your batteries in. I have ammo boxes that costed me 5 bucks that i keep in my outdoor

  37. glenby2u on August 25, 2020 at 11:07 am

    Things to consider adding in.
balance lead plug spares. battery comes off, balance lead gets chewed.
    heatshrink tube.
Zip ties – lots of zip ties.
    battery straps – a few
pliers or shifter for motor nuts and other bits.
    bug repellent.
    sun screen
foam mat or something to launch from is also handy.

with the ton of rtf quads and their prices dropping, brand newbies should perhaps consider a combo.
They get something that flies, a radio, gumby charger etc at a decent price.
Once they learn more, they can build on or upgrade.

great video and thanks for posting.
