the simplest solution to tackle the drone problems is ban them from public use so it’s only the army that uses them instead simple

If you’re interested in how to take a drone down without any interaction required with the pilot, please watch this video:

Life isn’t simple, people; but a lot of people are. Don’t view this incident with hindsight – that’s meaningless. I’m writing this Comment just a few minutes after the announcement was made. View the ‘attack’ in real-time and respond accordingly. Real time. No hindsight, no smartarse conspiracy theory crap, no "We hate the government and they’re staging it to punish us noble quad pilots … " nonsense. Real time, with 100,000 people passing through the airport.
So, in actual, on the spot terms, here goes. In at least two reports the drone/quad/hex-copter was described as ‘larger than hobby-sized’. So a small industrial machine is zipping about an airport. Shoot it down, scream the gun nuts. Whoa, there! A large drone is still a tiny target if its pilot has several spotters with camera phones to help him and he wants to be difficult. So where is it? On a roof. No, in the long grass. No, it’s – somewhere. Gatwick is vast. Where’s the pilot? Is this a three man team using long range FPV? Don’t know. So you still want to shoot it down, right, just like you do in your video games. Great. Fill the air with lead. That’ll help. Yay. So where is it? Don’t know. Aw, just fire wildly in all directions and you’re bound to hit something. As long as the drone’s not been parked against part of the terminal or under a £20,000,000 airliner loaded with (precious, probably blonde, blue-eyed USA cheerleader-type) passengers and 200 tons of fuel. And what’s the drone carrying? Just a camera so some brain-dead 12-year-old Butthead clone can post a "Huh-huh… that was cool!" video on YouTube? Or a camera plus enough high explosive to blow a hole in a plane’s fuel tank? Hmm. Someone with FPV goggles could fly it straight into the terminal building and trigger an incendiary device. Or deploy a biological weapon. Or release nerve gas. That’d be fun. OK, don’t shoot it down yet. Just… er… well, do something…you know, great. Um, yeah.

But wait! Is it also part of a co-ordinated attack? Misdirection has been common military strategy for over 4,000 years. So this drone could be a decoy to keep the security forces busy whilst 2 other decoy drones at Heathrow airport provide a secondary distraction so that the two guys loading baggage into cargo holds at Gatwick can take the opportunity to carry out phase 3 of the attack, the main part, which is to smuggle 45 lbs of semtex high explosive on board the two flights bound for New York. That’d give Trump something to moan about.
So who knows what’s going on? I don’t. You don’t, either, so please, don’t mock with the benefit of hindsight – it really doesn’t help.

So the battery only lasts 25 minutes before the drone goes back too the oparater and its been flying all night so the operator must have 24 batterys with him for 12 hours and the police can’t locate were he is even though the drone has gone back too the operator over 24 times during the night

  14. Lazarus Issass on July 2, 2021 at 11:35 pm

No evidence of drones whatsoever. Police claim to have found remains of damaged drone but produced no photos. They also interview a couple for 36 hours then release them without charge, having ruined their reputation in the press.
We now have the real reason for the unproven drone claims which is the introduction, entirely predictable, of yet more draconian legislation, in this instance governing the public’s use of drones. It’s all imo about state control in every area of national life.
Most videos posted on YouTube about the false (imo) claim of drone flying shutting Gatwick airport are posted by the British intelligence controlled BBC.

Shutting down an entire international airport + calling in the police and military because of ONE person with a drone?
Since when do airports completely shutdown because of one person? that is unheard of, there is something else going on.

Easy fix if drone manufacturers and authorities work together. An automated drone take over system for places where unauthorized drones cant go. Crosses the zone into the no fly zone a master signal takes the drone back out and forces it to land regardless of input from the drone operator. Problem solved

  34. Bryan Moyna on July 3, 2021 at 12:01 am

Why didnt they just sent another drone to destroy or capture it?

  36. Michael Harrison on July 3, 2021 at 12:02 am

Hang drone ( a dji mavic pro 2 ) will only fly for 25 minutes on one battery…..this is crap…this is just so the uk government can set up stupid rules. Introduction of each drone to be registered. A exam for pilots / owners and an annual fee ! 😡😡

  37. Michael AKA. SLYFOX on July 3, 2021 at 12:02 am

This government needs to get a grip on reality! Drones you say? I say bullshit. No one sends in the military for a drone and cancels every single flight, costing airlines millions upon Millions of £—-? Government and media are full of shit. Look around the world to what is happening and you will have your answer.
PS. Where is the footage of this so-called drone? We are probably the num1 country with the most CCTV & the military and media are there but no one has any footage. Strange🤔

  38. Rien on July 3, 2021 at 12:03 am

A coverup of an unrelated threat, or a lie to clear public opinion to support draconian regulatory change. Most drone batteries run flat in about ten minutes, and Police since denied any evidence of drone presence. If you want truth look here

    Omg….what a load of shit….how predictable,
1….the media start a major news report that a drone or drones have been up in the air for hours
2….the army cant even locate the drones…..not good if they cant find it ……what chance do we have if it was something more serious than a drone
3….media name a couple so it MUST be them its doing it
4….media wreck couples life as we now find out its not them
5….gatwick police now say maybe there wasnt a drone
6…all is forgotten about drone incident
7….media go onto another major incident that will be made to be very very interesting for public interest
8…. bbc, itn, cnn, and the newspapers all get a good story headline, make money, while ruining a couples life without getting their facts first……if I were that couple id start a crowd fund and go after the first media group that published their names
I have now noticed that reporting a news story is so full of false statements and fabrications that are now becoming so so predictable
What a disgrace……dont buy papers and dont listen to the news, instead get your info from online sources that are there at the time and possibly with mobile footage
    Rant over,merry Christmas x
