Fly Your DJI Drone Anywhere | Unlocking Authorization Zones

Unlock your DJI drone and fly (almost) anywhere including in authorization zones, warning zones, and enhanced warning zones through the DJI’s FlySafe website.

It’s important to always get permission from local authorities in any authorization zone and remain vigilant when flying, keeping an eye out for other aircrafts in the area.

Great info man. Now one question. Once I get that license code, is it good for the day you choose only, or for 2 days a week ?

Hey friend! Thanks for the help! I’ve managed tô get tô the final step but cant import yhe certificate tô the aircraft. It says the aircraft is disconnected. Any ideas?

  3. Sam Ting on September 20, 2021 at 11:37 pm

Good job. Needed to take a second look to get my bird to fly. I went through all the steps, got approval to unlock, but I could still not take off. The app kept telling me my aircraft was not connected, and I had no Internet connection. I was out in the field, how could I get an Internet connection. On my second look I realized I had skipped the “import” step. I went through the whole process again, got the approval, and I imported the license here at home where I have Internet. I’ll try again tomorrow. See if I can get my bird up. Thanks again.

I would sooner do it if and when I get to a location and I says I need authorisation. As can be done when phone connected to aircraft and unlock it then as I have done before. Dont carry a laptop with me to fly my drone

wot would happen if you flew into the restricted zone from just outside the r zone? would it operate or return to home?

  7. Ted Striker on September 20, 2021 at 11:40 pm

If you have internet on the device connected to the controller when you are about to fly, you should be able to self-unlock right on the screen. Make sure you are properly logged in to your DJI account on your app before trying to fly.

Just tried and while it looked like it was working, i tried multiple times to get the verification code via sms but none was ever sent. In spite of DJI saying the code was sent.

How long is the unlocking license valid?

  14. Steven Feil on September 20, 2021 at 11:53 pm

Why does a company, that is in a country that is our ENEMY have so much control over our acivities.

WHY do they have these controls in place if there is already a LOOP HOLE to get by it?

Does anyone know how to specify an irregular shape that you want unlocked? I can’t figure out how to depict an area except using the default circle!!! Which causes some issues. I want to be able to designate an irregular shape to unlock!! Help Me Mr. Wizard!!!

hi I am in a zone which i can fly mini 2 but still not taking off. What could be the reason for this?

  19. Digimatic life on September 20, 2021 at 11:59 pm

I’ve done this recently and it worked, I am back in the same area and trying to unlock again. Now DJI site is asking me to submit an Authentication application? anyone experience this? asking me for my organization and to submit some type of documentation.

  24. Jim K on September 21, 2021 at 12:07 am

Yes but…This is not LAANC authorization, it’s just DJI authorization. You still need to use Kittyhawk or other app to obtain FAA approval. As of my last contact with DJI they are not connected to the LAANC system.

I live 2 km from an airport, if I do this could I fly?

  26. Marcos Amora on September 21, 2021 at 12:08 am

Cover your gps sensors with tin foil and geo fencing will never trace your drone and you can fly all the way around.

  27. Tyrone Celix on September 21, 2021 at 12:08 am

I never got the code by SMS. I’ve tried several times already. 🙁

  28. Flyskydronesuk on September 21, 2021 at 12:09 am

Thank you for sharing your experience with this as just managed to unlock a geo zone to fly in on Sunday 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Will this work on the Mavic Air 1 app?, your app looks different than mine.

  34. Scrimm on September 21, 2021 at 12:13 am

Trying to set up my DJI account and while filling out the background certification the SMS never gets sent to my phone number. Not sure what to do now. Contacted DJI but heard nothing back yet. I live in an Altitude Zone so I’m assuming I will need to be able to use fly-safe to fly around my home, but can’t without being able to verify my number! Frustrating…

How long does it unlock these zones ? Can you have multiple locations unlocked?

  37. Michael Toub on September 21, 2021 at 12:16 am

    Well done, thanks!

  38. Richie T on September 21, 2021 at 12:17 am

Do you need to do this every time or is it a one time thing? Thank you very much for this video I watched it a few times👍🏽/subd

  39. Aaron Zimmerman on September 21, 2021 at 12:17 am

Maybe I’m missing something, is it as simple as just unlock through the app? How did you get permission to fly in the authorization zone? Did you have to ask the airport?

  40. Bate on September 21, 2021 at 12:20 am

People are talking about downgrading, but if you downgrade isn’t that a bit silly, they can track your drone can’t they?

  41. The Alis Life on September 21, 2021 at 12:21 am

Saved me my trouble despite still a distance from the airport. It works!

  42. BCN.SOCIAL TWITTER @BCNSOCIALNEWS on September 21, 2021 at 12:22 am

I found that when I get an unlock code and fly where I have no cellphone service it can not verify the unlock. Can’t stand the NFZ, I have a part 107 license. I can contact a control tower via an app a head of time. China-DJI should not be blocking flights. I now also worry that if the U.S. bans DJI in the U.S. I will own a $2000.00 brick. It is possible. China’s CCP took down DiDi, Bitcoin, etc. The NFZ and app in general could be flipped off by China’s CCP at a whim.

  43. Maverick74 on September 21, 2021 at 12:24 am

Thanks for the info, I had the scare of my life, I took my Mavic air 2 out where I normally go and fly with in line of sight and I was authorized for take off so I took off and stayed under 200 feet when I had an aircraft alert and saw the plane not even close to me when all of a sudden I got a message saying I was landing unfortunately I was over a heavily brushed woodland with a running creek and I was about a half a mile away and had no control luckily I missed all the trees and managed to bank it sideways away from the creek and landed safely on a rock ridge. I had flip flops on and shorts but no way was I losing her so I traversed in waist height brush and swam across a deep creek to get my drone. Took me an hour to get there.. can anyone tell me what happened??? I’m scared to fly now when I thought I was doing everything right

  44. Tony Bush jr on September 21, 2021 at 12:25 am

I notice that the license expires after 3 days. I have a new license but it’s not showing on the dji app. Any tips? Thanks

  45. Axel Figueroa on September 21, 2021 at 12:28 am

Thanks for sharing this information. It was very helpful however you did say you asked permission. Who did you ask permission to?
unlocking this thing can be easy but it doesn’t explain who do you need to call to "ask permision".
How can I find out if once I get the unlocked on the drone is there a restriction on height and distance to fly in these areas? Where do I get that information?

  49. Brian Rouse on September 21, 2021 at 12:31 am

Thanks! I ran into this problem yesterday. I always submit my flights via the AIRMAP app, and didn’t get any restrictions on my flight from them. But when I took off DJI blocked the drone from advancing into a warning zone. It was weird…I took off in a clear zone, and once I hit the warning zone, the drone just stopped like it hit an invisible wall.
