    Took me 9 minutes…

  2. D Hansel on June 25, 2021 at 11:02 pm

I went to the site and and took the test. I missed a couple because I believe the answers could have been two out of three the gave.
I believe the one was who do notify when flying around in a town. I answered that I use my ‘before you fly’ app but the right answer they wanted was to notify the chamber of commerce.
I can tell you most chamber of commerce offices wouldn’t know what you are talking about.
I would like to see a list of questions and the answers they are wanting.
Anyone have a place to go to get that?

Took me about 15-20 minutes to read and take the test. I’m a recreational pilot, still relatively new to drones, and I get a great deal of enjoyment flying my DJI Mini 2.

  4. Harold Jackson on June 25, 2021 at 11:03 pm

Hello everyone! I’m an old 65 year young man and just got my new DJI MINI 2 DRONE. The next day I see the news that I would need to take a safety test and pass to be able to fly my new DRONE. Well thanks to 51 DRONES I found the website and took the test. Took me about 30 minutes and now I have my Certificate to fly. Just do it! Thanks 51 DRONES.

All I got from this course was the notion that eventually as a recreational pilot, I am going to be forced to join a CBO, like a local HAM club and it will cost me money and eventually have recreational fliers confined to a field somewhere… this will basically force people to become 107 certified, hence making the FAA more money… Maybe if you could do the 107 test online, like everything else, I would do it. I mean, its not like people aren’t afraid of someone else breathing on them right now, so lets force people to go places they don’t want to and sit there taking a test that they didn’t need to take for years just to add you to another list with a government agency… Nobody around me is even doing testing still, so I couldn’t get my 107 even if I needed to.

I’M NEW TO RC PLANES SO DO YOU HAVE TO TAKE BOTH PART 107 AND TRUST TEST OR JUST THE TRUST FOR RECREATIONAL FLYING?

  7. Scott W. on June 25, 2021 at 11:05 pm

I did my Part 107 training with Pilot Institute. They are awesome as well.

  8. Steve Ley on June 25, 2021 at 11:05 pm

Not related to TRUST, but last week, I ordered a bracket to attach my IPad Mini to the controller thru your site. Got it yesterday and it will only work on older DJI’s. The Air 2S Controller is totally different. The Amazon page said it was for the Air 2S. There was no problem with returning it, but thought you might be interested.

  9. David Quesada on June 25, 2021 at 11:05 pm

This dude needs to shut the heck up about the Amazon/FAA rules and regulations. He’s only encouraging them. I bet he loves big government and high taxes as well.

  10. Jando on June 25, 2021 at 11:06 pm

I wouldn’t have taken this if it wasn’t anonymous ngllllllll

  11. Mark Locke on June 25, 2021 at 11:09 pm

Great information, glad you shared this or I wouldn’t have known. Training was simple, anyone with prior knowledge will breeze through this. Took me about 10 mins as I’m still learning and absorbing everything.

I’m a commercial pilot do I really need this?

  14. Dave Stuart on June 25, 2021 at 11:13 pm

I took the test, super easy……..

  15. Brian Wulff on June 25, 2021 at 11:13 pm

I have owned a drone for 5 days and watched about a 1/2 dozen videos on YouTube about them. I was able to complete the TRUST course and exam from Pilot Institute in about 20 minutes without missing a single question (I didn’t have to revisit any questions). It was good information, well put together, and easy to understand. Thanks for a great video to let me know this is available.

  16. D Hansel on June 25, 2021 at 11:16 pm

I’m an older senior citizen and it took me 35 minutes to see what answer they were looking for.
I think the whole thing is another way to add to a data base on people somewhere.
Just one more step to more government control.

  17. topcat lawson on June 25, 2021 at 11:20 pm

    easy as pie

  18. Stephen Johnston on June 25, 2021 at 11:20 pm

Thanks for keeping us aware so we could get that taken care of. As purely a rec pilot (only 6 months now), the test is clearly for those just starting out who haven’t done any research at all. It is a good introduction and am glad it is the bare minimum for anyone flying to encourage more knowledge, training and practice, even if only to protect their drone investment.

  19. Sergeant Bilko on June 25, 2021 at 11:21 pm

I haven’t taken it yet and I really don’t have any problem with having to take it especially since it’s free.

  20. Salem Agency on June 25, 2021 at 11:22 pm

Thank you Russ! 🙂 Excellent work! T

  21. David Winiger on June 25, 2021 at 11:24 pm

Done. Less than 10 minutes. Just take pic and print off card when done.

  22. Elvin Berndt on June 25, 2021 at 11:24 pm

Took test , if I hadn’t watched you’re video I wouldn’t have known about this. Thanks and keep up the good work.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

  23. NorthPaddle on June 25, 2021 at 11:25 pm

Thanks for the info. That took about 5 to 10 minutes. (I actually read the information) I find the line of sight requirement interesting. I’m guessing that one gets violated a lot. My GoPro Karma is easy to keep track of, my DJI mini is a little harder.

  24. HitechProductions on June 25, 2021 at 11:26 pm

It’s good. It took me about 10 minutes. I am brand spanking new, but I have only use a drone half a dozen times. I missed one question, but that is because I choose the first one that was correct and didn’t notice the "All of the above". So, had I done that I would have gotten all the questions correct. If you have been flying you should have NO problem getting all the questions correct in 10 minutes.

  25. Nikos Tsakinis on June 25, 2021 at 11:27 pm

    Thank you for the info…

  26. JOSEPH FRIEDRICH on June 25, 2021 at 11:29 pm

Can someone please clarify this for me. I fly strictly recreationally, and according to the DJI/ before you fly map, I am in an area that is not green, but is also not shaded by any colour. No red, no Gray, no blue, no restricted zone, no permission first zone, nothing. Just a blank open location on the map. My neighbor who also flies, was told by the HOA that it’s illegal to fly unless we are in a green designated fly zone…
I’m respectful so I grounded it, but which is true? Can I fly anywhere zone depending, or JUST in the green?

  27. TheTawniest on June 25, 2021 at 11:29 pm

16 approved test providers as of now. One thing I disliked was being required to set up a username & password from pilotinstitute. Got mine from Lake Area Tech without that in about 5 or 10mins.

  28. TipTop McGoo on June 25, 2021 at 11:30 pm

This is like someone going through the process of getting a concealed carry permit and years later being required to take an intro to firearms class. Having 107 licensed pilots take a Rec test is federal hoops of redundancy.

  29. Unknown Overland on June 25, 2021 at 11:31 pm

Went ahead and picked up my TRUST cert, definitely an easy step to just go ahead and get done. I’ve also got my Part 107, but since I mostly upload onto my Youtube channel it’s always hard to tell if I fly rec or part 107, but now it’s all covered.

  30. E R on June 25, 2021 at 11:37 pm

Echoing Zach’s comments. Would not have known about the new requirement if not subscribed to your channel. Thank you for sharing your experience and wisdom of all-things drone related.

  31. -Zach- on June 25, 2021 at 11:37 pm

Took me 5 minutes. Thanks for the info Russ. Didn’t know about it until you posted this.

  32. Lil' Boosty on June 25, 2021 at 11:39 pm

Test is super easy. Any experienced drone pilot should be able to click through and ace it in a few minutes.

  33. Sonny Gower on June 25, 2021 at 11:40 pm

What I am wondering…flying a drone was never really considered a privilege or a right. So if you are caught breaking the rules can your license be revoked?

  34. Phil Roos on June 25, 2021 at 11:41 pm

Here I am in ND and thought about you Russ. And you pop this! I’ll need to get on this ASAP!

  35. Brian Cagle on June 25, 2021 at 11:43 pm

I just took the safety test and passed using your recommendation. It was easy and good information plus I did learn a few things about flying a drone I didn’t think I needed to know so I like it

  36. Rickey Allinen on June 25, 2021 at 11:44 pm

I have been a recreational pilot for over 40 years and the test is a waste of time. This is just another way to drive people out of the hobby. In my opinion it is geared toward Quadcopters/FPV pilots. I can’t put all of the blame for these governmental regulations on Quadcopter , big companies had a hand in it too. As far as test providers there are , at this point, 16.

  37. V on June 25, 2021 at 11:44 pm

Trust test took me 6 min..

  38. Zeppy on June 25, 2021 at 11:47 pm

Great video Russ! Took the Trust test and it was an absolute breeze!

  39. Tony Wahab on June 25, 2021 at 11:48 pm

Thanks Russ! It took me about 15 minutes to complete, download and print out my TRUST certificate. Truly appreciate the info!

  40. Video Is King Milwaukee on June 25, 2021 at 11:49 pm

Thanks so much for explaining this!

  41. Amen_ Ra on June 25, 2021 at 11:52 pm

Ridiculous that a cert is even needed in the first place regardless of how easy the training & test is. It’s just another boiling frogs in a pot scenario. More things gradually get spoon fed in tiny portions until one day you look around and it’s too late to ask "what the hell just happened?"
    .
The first page of the training states "drones have collided with other aircraft, injured people, and caused property damage." I want to see those official reports because I’ll bet not a one was an FPV drone and it was some DJI person who had no business using it.

  42. Al Wagner on June 25, 2021 at 11:53 pm

Thanks Russ. I just took it. Took me about 10 minutes. I read the first part and after that I went right to the questions.

  43. Slickback Brown on June 25, 2021 at 11:54 pm

I’m a student of Greg’s over at Pilot Institute. He’s a great teacher and the course is amazing! Thanks Russ for this video and all the videos you put out!

8 dislikes from people that don’t like taking tests

  45. Film Projects - L' ORAGE Productions on June 25, 2021 at 11:57 pm

Why for Part 107 pilots too? We already take tests

  46. Paul Buehler on June 25, 2021 at 11:57 pm

Thanks for the heads up. Just took the test, 100% straight through. I now have a copy in my wallet.

  47. MrRaymond1021 on June 26, 2021 at 12:01 am

I’m still a new pilot, I’ve been flying for almost two years. I’m not going to lie. I read through the whole thing in about half an hour, and I will admit. I did get one wrong, but like you mentioned. Just go back, and redo it. I’m still thinking about doing the 107, but I just don’t see the point when all I want to do is fly. Thanks for the video.

  48. twistedfireman on June 26, 2021 at 12:01 am

I’ve never flown a drone in my life. Heck, I don’t even own one at this time. After watching your video, I went to UAVCoach and took the test. Within 10-12 minutes, I was done and had already downloaded my certificate !!! Those questions are all common sense so they are easy to answer. Now if the DJI Mini 3 could be launched… 😉
