Really appreciate the simple focus, so much of the info on the net fails to tie the steps together in a highly accessible way like these videos do.

  2. Catfacts on August 8, 2021 at 9:39 pm

"I’m going to divert my power to my mining laser" – How do you do that? What benefit does it provide, you skipped over that a little I am very new so I’m a tad confused sorry.

  3. Scott Deieso on August 8, 2021 at 9:40 pm

Love your vids bro, I can see I’m going to really enjoy mining

    Well done. Thank you.

  6. Jason Szabo on August 8, 2021 at 9:46 pm

Talk about thorough! Thanks for going over every part of the process!. Allot of beginner videos just tell you what to equip and go out and figure it out. Thanks for taking us through the process!

  7. Matthew Pennell on August 8, 2021 at 9:47 pm

Excellent short series, just what a complete beginner needs (not like all of the other "ED Mining Guide" videos which assume you already have an immense amount of knowledge and resources).

  9. Clif Brown on August 8, 2021 at 9:52 pm

I don’t think it makes any difference if you keep the laser on one spot of the asteroid or keep it moving. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

  10. Bob Henderson on August 8, 2021 at 9:52 pm

I have just started Elite Dangerous and I am liking it a lot. However I’m still a newbie and I’m still trying to figure out how the refinery works. Is there a way to automatically vent unwanted metals?
Right now I am constantly getting a "unallocated " message and I think I may be dumping what i meant to keep. I have looked online for a detailed guide but the guides I have found seem to gloss over this and don’t explain venting or bins in any detail.

  11. Michael Artych on August 8, 2021 at 9:52 pm

I would like to say thank you for your guides. I am taking them all 1by1 and it is a great asset. It would be great to see more of these basic steps, where we get an insight into the shortcuts and so on.
I have subscribed just so that I can follow your progress. I hope there is also some deep core mining guide 🙂

  12. Internet Quality Police on August 8, 2021 at 9:53 pm

A lot of very bad advice in this. Mining belts = bad idea. Using tiny refinery = stupid idea.

  13. Hurk on August 8, 2021 at 9:56 pm

your guides are so much better than most of the other on yt. Most people speak fast and go over stuff fast and doesnt explain everything, but you take your time and describe every step slowly

  14. CuRsEd_gamer3225 on August 8, 2021 at 9:56 pm

Where do I buy prospect limpets and control limpets ? Every damn station I go to doesn’t sell them

Just did my first landing that was nerve racking

  17. chris d on August 8, 2021 at 9:58 pm

I don’t get it… I have a bunch of stuff stuck in the refinery. What do I do with it when does it transfer into my cargo? Do I have to push a button? I’m assuming the vent button it to throw away right? What do I do to make money???

  18. ziplock9000 on August 8, 2021 at 9:59 pm

I run out of prospecting and collection limpets very quickly before I get any cargo. Storage is only 12 units at moment. Overall it seem a LOT more work for such small amounts compared to other comparable games like EVE online etc. And when I have a job, the ore fills my cargo so I get less and less limpets each trip.

It hurt my soul when you vented that 99% silver… very helpful series, as always! Thanks for all your hard work

  22. David Bristoll on August 8, 2021 at 10:05 pm

I’m just getting started and these first two videos have really helped. There’s something I want to add which isn’t made clear in this video though: The refinary has a hopper and a number of bins (depending on the refinary you have). The refinary in this video has two bins. This means that, for each material refined, two raw materials can be gathered. I think it’s more time efficient to use both bins and gather two materials at once (probably a rare one and a more common one). You only have to vent materials from the hopper if your bins contain different materials.

For example, your hopper might contain materials X, Y and Z. If your two bins are empty, materials X and Y will be refined into those bins. Material Z will be left in the hopper as this can’t be refined. You can either vent material Z (freeing up the hopper for your next sample), or, vent one of the bins so that you’re refining material Z instead.

Mining for two materials at once is going to be more time efficient and a better option as long as you’re not too fussy about what your secondary material is.

    Keep up the great work!

  23. C S on August 8, 2021 at 10:06 pm

So do you need limpets to actually collect what you’ve mined? Or is there another way to collect?

  24. CTaLieN11 on August 8, 2021 at 10:09 pm

What happened in 12:00??? You had 87% and the BAM you have 100% by just venting another type of item. Can someone answer?

  28. WyMustIGo on August 8, 2021 at 10:14 pm

To save on prospector limpets in a ring, can you use the pulse wave scanner and only prospect ones that have surface deposites?

  33. Squirrel Attackspidy on August 8, 2021 at 10:19 pm

How do you deploy a collector limpet? Do you fire one out like a weapon? Assign it to a fire group and launch it? What’s the percentage thing on your hud that says 37%? What are the three red dots next to that? What are the blue and green light things next to those? Why did you eject your silver at 13:15 in? Thanks!

  34. Raniaska on August 8, 2021 at 10:20 pm

  41. Richard Thigpen on August 8, 2021 at 10:27 pm

Thanks for the videos. I’m just getting started, bought the game the two DLC this morning. I’m always attracted to mining in games like this so is it possible to start right off in your first ship as a miner? Or do I need to run some basic type missions first to get funds? The credits I started with wasn’t enough to buy the cheap laser and refinery. Wondering if there’s something I missed.

  42. TaSwavo on August 8, 2021 at 10:29 pm

    Awesome – thank you

You didn’t put the extra pip onto weapons that would have helped – it’s not overheating, just running out of power.
Apparently it’s more efficient (later in the game with bigger and more mining lasers and many more collectors) to always point ‘down’ at an asteroid as the chips coming off go down and are easier for the limpets to collect as they come out of the bottom of your ship.

Love your content – subbed and bell; though you don’t post so often I see 🙁 You should.

And thank you SO much for that last tip – VERY helpful when starting off with a hauler or a cobra

  43. TrainedDumbAss on August 8, 2021 at 10:30 pm

I’m starting to give up on this game none of it is clicking with me

  44. CLopes on August 8, 2021 at 10:30 pm

I didn’t understand the ‘refinery full’ part. when you look at the refinery panel, the ratios don’t always add up to 100% so why did you get a notification that it was full?

  45. James Crawford on August 8, 2021 at 10:31 pm

Your videos have been a life saver. The game was so overwhelming at first but now I’m hooked. One month in and I feel like I’m really starting to get it. Not a lot of games take the long to grasp lol still learning

  46. Jose Cabada on August 8, 2021 at 10:32 pm

    you help to much

  48. Reaver on August 8, 2021 at 10:35 pm

Recently bought this game and you’re mining videos helped me out tremendously, Thanks a million 👍

  49. Kasey Mathew on August 8, 2021 at 10:35 pm

A tip from a different mining tutorial I’ve seen: when the hopper gets full, it’s because the cargo bay’s full.
Jettison one of your limpets in stead.

Played last time ED 4 years ago for about 100hours but I only did combat/fighting, now I was try mining and you really are explaining everything perfectly, sub deserved 🙂
