So I have a question on entering the registration into the software on my Parrot ANAFI under the DRI section. It asks to insert my registration number and associated key which I have no idea what the associated key means and cannot find anything about this anywhere on the FAA drone site. Also if i try to enter the registration number the software tells me it needs to be 16 digits long, the number from the FAA is not 16 digits long. So How do I go about completing this? Thank you for any assistance with this.

What will happen to people that I follow on YouTube that don’t follow rules…bot grinder..smokes dope and does other drugs before he flies…also they fly where they want…business parking lot..near people…he has over 100.000 subscribers..that watch this and fly the same way..so what will happen to his channel…he has so many followers and his modo is forget the faa…what about rotor riot..zorro…and other guys who fly crazy..I think nobody’s going to do what you asked…and fly the way they want ๐Ÿ˜‰…well good luck on trying to push people to register…why would they… if they register then they are on file….to follow rules…bot grinders saying is rules were meant to be broken…so good luck especially for free style…and racers…

Excellent video as usual. I do have one question however. I am currently taking your Part 107 course but now flying my drone registered as a recreational flyer. When I get my Part 107 certificate do I have to register my drone under Part 107 and get a new ID number or can I use the current ID number and just have it transferred to the Part 107 database?

Just to be clear, if we have more than one UAS and are registering them under recreation, do will still add the serial number of each one as an additional device without paying another $5?

    Hi Greg,

I received a replacement drone from DJI. I updated my DroneZone Serial number (to match the new drone) from my previous drone (part107), but can I keep the same registration number?

slighlty off subject Greg, its regarding the FFA remote pilot ID on July 28th, I left this question for them: How will the FAA guarantee a remote pilot’s safety after the remote ID is exposed to everyone and to potentially violent individuals? How will the FAA guarantee public safety if a sUAS is left unattended during an attack on the remote pilot by such violent individual?

This was cool Greg. I have my registration number on the nose of my MA2 between the two front sensers. It kinda looks like an engraved license plate. Thanks for sharing. ๐Ÿ‘

Greg, I have a drone I bought for my wife. I registered it under her name and put the reg. number on the drone. However, I fly it. Does the registration in her name cover me if I am flying it? If not, do I need to register the same drone in my name and add an additional number to the drone?

It’s nice how the FAA changes requirements even though no laws are currently in place outlining the changes as requirements. When have we seen this happen before? They are clearly just trying to skirt the regulations that govern their actions.

Thanks again Greg for another great and informative video, you have become my go to guy for all of these wonderful (?) FAA updates.

I paid my $5 and registered my drone, but I don’t remember having to type in my drone serial number. The FAA did take my $5 and gave me the same number I had 3 years prior when I registered my Autel X Star Premium. The drone I fly now is a DJI Mavic Air 2 but I don’t recall having to enter the serial number this time. Where do I go to find out if I do have my drone registered correctly?

Thanks for the video Greg! Very informative. Question: if I am planning to get my part 107, but don’t have it yet, should/can I go ahead and register my drone under part 107? Or should I just register it under recreational flyer for the time being?

As you mentioned at 11:11 – registrations are good for both, just wanted some clarification if the part 107 requires having the license first. Thanks!

2:46. Very important! Donโ€™t pay more than you have to!

I registered my drone for recreational but now I want to fly it under 107, why can’t I change that?

  19. ClassicFIHD on August 28, 2021 at 11:14 pm

I have a slew of airplanes. None have serial numbers. Do I list them all?

  20. Beowulf Schmidt on August 28, 2021 at 11:20 pm

Is the a time limit for completing your part 107 course? I am going to do it, but I’m trying to figure out where to situate it in my life at the moment? :/

  21. David Shamma on August 28, 2021 at 11:20 pm

Thanks for answering my question at 11:02 about 107 and rec reg! You answered it in the comment thread under your TRUST video too. Pilot Institute is the best!

  22. Turd Ferguson on August 28, 2021 at 11:23 pm

Registered my drones and put the FAA # sticker on all 3 of them. Also passed the TRUST safety test. However, if the FAA puts Remote ID into effect in September, 2023 as theyโ€™ve announced, the FAA #s will be coming off my drones. Iโ€™ll continue flying safely, as I do now, but I wonโ€™t be a participant in ludicrous govt overreach just to clear the skies for commercial drones.

I’m sorry. I’m not understanding, probably because this is all news to me.
I got a DJI mini 2. I know its under 0.55 LBs. But it sounds like if I ever want to use my drone for commercial purposes I still need to register or no? or am I in the wrong place entirely?
