    Hi Russ,
Love your educational videos. I’m taking the 107 test in Nov. 2020 and while reviewing for the test, I came across in one of the practice tests that ALL drones must now be registered regardless of it’s weight. Is this true?Any comments on this?

Hi, Keep doing what you’re doing for the drone community. I really appreciate your passion! I’m a resident of south jersey and new to the drone community, do I need to complete any online testing before flying my newly purchased Mavic Air? Previously, I purchased and registered a Hubson drone that’s non-opperational and my current FAA registration is good until 12/20. Do I need to register my new drone? Thanks in advance. Ed

Even drones under 250 grams (0.55 lbs) (e.g. Mavic Mini) need to be registered if you’re flying under under Part 107 in the USA.

  32. David on March 20, 2021 at 1:05 am

Do you need to be a licensed commercial pilot under Part 107 to register your drone or can you register your drone while you are in the process of getting your Part 107 commercial drone pilot’s license? Thank you!

  37. 3D Texan on March 20, 2021 at 1:11 am

When I hear "Register your drone" to me, means that the serial number must be registered with the FAA. On the FAA it only registers YOU and you receive a cert number to put on the outside of the drone(s). You do not put in a model, or serial number. Please explain. Thanks

🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹 if my drone has been stolen how can I find it ???

  49. Adrian S. on March 20, 2021 at 1:25 am

    V-E-R-Y I-M-P-O-R-T-A-N-T!!!!
A legal permanent resident (green card holder) or guest worker H1B CANNOT register a drone in US!
After watching about 10 videos on YouTube (this one included) about drone registration, not one of them mentioned this!
If you are a visitor/tourist visiting the country, you can bring a drone with you and get a TEMPORARY (30 day) permit for either recreation or commercial use, but you must apply and be approved before entering the country with the drone.
Failure to adhere to these rules is a FEDERAL CRIME and may lead to revocation of visa status and/or deportation!

  50. Frank Morales III on March 20, 2021 at 1:28 am

Not sure if I heard you say this – the drone has to weigh less than 0.55 pounds on takeoff, including everything that is onboard or attached to the aircraft. Thus, if your drone weighs 0.54 pounds without sims card or battery you will probably have to register it.
