Teaching a friend to fly a quadcopter? Looking to improve your piloting skills yourself? Does you kid always ask to fly your drone and then immediately crash it? If any of those are true, then this is the video for you. In it, I teach Nick Mardi, actor and host of The Latest Late Show, who has never flown any RC before, how to fly a Syma X5C using 5 skills that every pilot should know.
1. Take off and landing
2. Hovering in one place
3. Forward, backward, right, left
4. 360 Yaw
5. Full Circle

If you are a great pilot and don’t need improvement, then skip this video. But if you are a beginner to intermediate pilot, these 5 maneuvers, if practiced regularly, will definitely improve your drone flying skills!

Want a great beginner quadcopter at a very low price? Check out the Syma X5C, it’s the same one we flew in this video. If you buy it from Amazon at this link, you will get a great price and support our channel!

Okay, I’m sorry but I don’t see how this video would help anyone. Not possible. You have to do it for yourself. Fail through it to do it. To learn it. To do a video showing beginners you would have to show the fingers of controller making the moves on the control in a split part of your screen. Otherwise, it is just yelling at someone and watching something in the air. No help at all. A person really has to get one of these and learn themselves. Try flying and mastering an RC helicopter. Now if you can fly one of those you can definitely fly any drone.

on my world tech mini elite Orion when I press return it beeps and [wont shut off] or stop beeping- yet I still have some control, and in the easy mode button makes it like headless and beeps yet another push [ can turn it off ] it stops beeping on the-same button ,why is the return button still beeping stays on-when pushed twice ?

whatta cruel teaching!!! hahahah — You guys wouldnt suffer such way if using at least a phanton three… easier to cntrl. I have a VISUO 809 SHARK it’s a wicked drone but i handled nicely after training with it tied up to a fishing line 9ft long. This is the only way drone wouldnt go crazy on behalf of my lack of expertise to handle it. –
if your pal can control this one, any other will surely be easier to be managed…

Why do people feel they need to add soundtrack to instruction videos? It’s annoying and distracting. I want to hear the instructors not listen to crappy soundtracks. I had to quit and look for something else. Something quieter!

  30. Scott Gibson on February 28, 2020 at 3:29 am

I learned with the Syma X5c.I had two hands then,so it was just a matter of practice.Next step was a blade 180qx.from there,I went to Yuneec, and Autel.
A test is a dji Spark. It,like the yuneec, and the Autel ,essentially flies itself.I would recommend, the Syma, with the caveat, that it has a really crappy camera, where the others have pretty decent cameras.Thanksnfor the video

Screw drones they are not part of rc helicopters and planes

  33. DOUGLAS THORNLEY on February 28, 2020 at 3:31 am

YOU ARE NOT A PILOT, A TOY OPERATOR YES, BUT NOT A PILOT

  34. Jonathan Samet on February 28, 2020 at 3:34 am

those skills are easy. try learning to fly it when its not oriented forward like when the drones forward is 90 degrees left or some other weird angle relative to you… i need practice with keeping it in place when its not oriented with me and there are trim and wind issues. (non gps drone)

  35. harry Minkley on February 28, 2020 at 3:34 am

Was it just me or did the coach not even seem good? Wouldnt give him my drone remote.

  36. D Goody on February 28, 2020 at 3:35 am

I just bought my son a beginner one and it’s terrible to fly. Left right forward backward is never what it should be. So figuring out what direction to push is always tricky. It’s annoying

  45. Dustin p Lee on February 28, 2020 at 3:47 am

You should tell him look at the lights and show him what the front and back on the drone

  46. Kramnik Paul Benitez on February 28, 2020 at 3:49 am

This video brings back many memories with my first drone years ago it looks like this drone but a different brand and some of you might be watching this because your confused on the controls. When I got my first drone flying I crashed a lot but it’s okay because the drone is not for professionals all we need to do is Never Give Up and Practice More. And we all know that a professional was once a begginer.

  47. Mark Phillips on February 28, 2020 at 3:50 am

Altho I agree everyone should learn with a cheap drone with manual controls, Headless & GPS are simply the evolution of the machine, not cheating. It’s not till you fly FPV that you dramatically change the sport.
