Drone Engine Technology at AUVSI

BVLOS or beyond visual line of sight is a desperate goal for the drone industry. But LiPo batteries and tiny electric motors aren’t going to do that. But there are plenty of engine makers out there working on hybrid and heavy fuel solutions. At AUVSI Exponential, AVweb’s Paul Bertorelli looked at four examples.

That was some cool stuff! There will be a point when uav and general aviation will merge. It’ll be awesome but with a ton of growing pains.

Nah, don’t waste your time on this stuff. Electric motors and batteries are getting to the point where they’re just about to overtake chemical engines. It’ll be just a few years now, so why spend your time developing a technology which will be obsolete in a year or two?
