DJI | NCDOT – Building a Statewide Drone Program

115 years after the Wright Brothers made their historic flight, the Division of Aviation at the North Carolina Department of Transportation continues their aviation legacy by spearheading the integration of drones into a statewide program. It has helped North Carolina become a leader in government and commercial use of drones.

They’ve used drones for public safety, accident reconstruction, environmental analysis and lifesaving actionable intelligence. Thanks to DJI drones and scenario-based workshops and training, public safety and state leaders continue helping their community from above.

This video should show what actually happens. Drone is unpacked, update required. update failed. compass doesn’t calibrate. after 20 minutes, drone is in the air but the gimbal stick moves the drone instead of the camera. Recalibrate the RC. Now the RC functions incorrectly and constantly beeps. update firmware on controller..no change. Then drone losses home point but miraculously it regains connection in the nick of time. guess they aren’t using a mavic air lol 🙂 ☺👈
DJI is great but boy, what a pice of shit. Someday they’ll get it right I guess. not bitter I swear

NC is a terrible state for drone piloting i discovered, luckily the mavic 2 series is very quiet so easier to do my missions without hassle or needing to fly really far out of my way, but sadly NC’s regulations against drones for non commercial use means good luck having fun specially at the beach. im lucky my beach house i rent out isnt in a NFZ or special use airspace but it is close enough that i do have to worry sometimes, even though that same region of water is open for boating fairly unregulated even though special use because of wildlife protection (marine) and erosion protection (marine) from my research.. not sure how a drone casually cruising around out of the water would interfere more than me blasting my boat around at 70mph (which is allowed in non wetland areas)

Dji playas both sides. No loyalty to their customers.

Pls share this video with others to show drones can be used for good! Drone restrictions are Made because the public don’t trust them but they can be used for so much more than just weapons.

    To the video editors ;
How come everytime someone cut there’s a morph transition in the middle of it ?
I mean guys, you have amazing shots, yet you couldn’t get people to say what you wanted in a short way so you had to edit the spoken content to the point that you couldn’t have someone say words for more than 5secs without cuting it?
    Wow. :/

Technology has come an incredibly long way in the past 100 years. People are now flying drones for YouTube advertisements and info videos. I was not long ago watching the remote control drone camera point of view flying over pigs throughout a large indoor pig barn, the drone seemed to be scaring the pigs though.

DJI is one of the best drone for civil use many reasonable hobby and civil service like emergency search for rescue victims when there is no time for chopters available.
Please don’t use DJI as evil weapon threaten people’s life.

  27. Angel Lopez on May 7, 2021 at 2:22 am

DJI, you can fly your drones up your back yard. So disappointed with laws i wish I could returned them. Its worse than gun laws. I know " call your congressman" . Your are ripping off the hobbyist > trust me, Im just getting started,

  28. Angel Lopez on May 7, 2021 at 2:26 am

What sucks is that for the hobby its ending. I am doing everything in my power to boycot DJI. They will loose a chump of change

In Argentina, A group of hobbyists, we were engaged in a search mission designated by city firefighters. The mission was to find a person lost by an illness. We were 1 day raking with 3 teams Dji, Phantom 3, Phantom 4 and Mavic … We were very close to find it, since the designated area was not the one this person was. It was an experience of a lot of commitment, a lot of union with the Hobista Group and to know much more our DJI, Greetings from Argentina

DJI is a Chinese company. Enough said.

  38. Miles O'Roads on May 7, 2021 at 2:39 am

And do all these Gov entities get a free pass on no part 107??? Firefighter’s I understand. The others are just taking money away from small LICENSE businesses.

Drones that are supposed to be at an airport wait what

  40. Koon Chan on May 7, 2021 at 2:41 am

Everywhere, the government treats ordinary people who fly drones as if they are criminals. Drone incidents are exaggerated, and some like the one at the UK airport is not even true.

  41. Charles Morris on May 7, 2021 at 2:45 am

"Flying drones at Kittyhawk is prohibited." 😂

  44. J on May 7, 2021 at 2:49 am

The one about using a drone in front of the truck was retarded. You could put a regular camera on the front of the truck.

So great that NCDOT is willing to use drones for themselves, but when will they let NC residents fly in public?
