Superb idea Ash, my batteries are flat…but cant be bothered to fight through all the different cables to charge them!😂
You do make a good point, which is why I still have the spark and the p4p…I can charge both in the car.

  2. German Silva on September 11, 2022 at 8:35 pm

    Fantastic idea!

  3. bestfield on September 11, 2022 at 8:39 pm

Good yes usb-c way to go

  4. Gonzalo on September 11, 2022 at 8:39 pm

Wht Not charge the whole hub with a Usb?

  5. Stephen Doggett on September 11, 2022 at 8:40 pm

I have no idea how many battery chargers I have thrown out over the years and cannot be in more agreement with you Ash. DJI could even not include a charger – after all, who needs another USB-C charger these days? (It is great that the new Iphone comes with no charger; hopefully more phone companies will follow this trend).

  6. The K Spot on September 11, 2022 at 8:40 pm

    great idea!!!

  7. Owen Addams on September 11, 2022 at 8:41 pm

I would think a 3rd party vendor would have come out with a product like this!

  8. DRONER MX on September 11, 2022 at 8:45 pm

    I agree.

  9. Steven Trueman on September 11, 2022 at 8:47 pm

Wow, how simple is that, it wouldnt take a rocket scientist to reverse engineer that, well said Ash, ps love to know what you were saying at the end of your vid🤔😁

  10. Shiroman Ramsoedh on September 11, 2022 at 8:51 pm

i guess dji listened, the mavic mini 2 has a type c port on the backside which can be used for charging i think.
lol i see 5 flat batteries currently on this video ;)….. well I gave it a thumbs up!!!!

  11. -Zach- on September 11, 2022 at 8:51 pm

Hey where did you get the number stickers for the batteries.
I’ve been looking for some of those.

  12. Alexis Hadjisoteriou on September 11, 2022 at 8:51 pm

    Brilliant idea!

  13. Sandip Bobade on September 11, 2022 at 8:52 pm

Loved your video. Everything in there make sense. Looks like DJI is not using common sense now a days?

  14. Raymond Macias on September 11, 2022 at 8:53 pm

    Brilliant idea!!!

  15. Philip Soon on September 11, 2022 at 8:53 pm

Brilliant idea for sure, but there seems to be some resistance with a number of Chinese manufacturers in adopting the USB-C port. Recently I commented to a rather innovative Chinese manufacturer that I would be a lot more interested in their new product(a compact LED strobe/flash that works with smart phones) if it uses the more future proofed USB-C charge port. Their answer – there are lots of people already possessing the micro-USB type charger😳

  16. richard halliday on September 11, 2022 at 8:53 pm

    DJI no different to Apple.

  17. Slowshop & Custom on September 11, 2022 at 8:55 pm

Great idea! That would make it much easier to charge from a 12v vehicle aswell when you’re out in the field or doing s.a.r missions.

  18. TYPE xxi - WOLF on September 11, 2022 at 8:55 pm

    USB – C is not 1 STANDARD,
it is a term for multiple ones up to the PD one, Power Delivery and there things can become complicated or had been for me.
Different charger and things do not work out.

And everything depends on the chemistry you use cause LiFePo4 has full voltage reached at 3,6V while LiIon cut off voltage is 4,2 V and therefore the charging voltage ad procedures are different for how long at what voltage before and so on.

This logic can be implemented on the charger side or on the battery, but do we want more weight on the copter considering that Mini is already 249 gr where every gramm counts?

I am not into the dji batteries … I simply use batteries for DIY powerwalls to power the house by solar power and partially by a generator in dark long winter days with strong cast and charge the EV.

Easy to ask for USB-C but there are a few more things to take into account to go that way even though I prefer that too.
But I might digg into dji batteries to get the Mavic 2 Pro an XXL pack or convert it to 18650 or 21700 cells as I had seen that somewhere on the web.

  19. Up2U on September 11, 2022 at 8:57 pm

I’ve been dying for this. They’ve FINALLY come to their senses with the Mavic 3.
It was a main reason my Anafi was my favorite in addition to its lightweight, etc., which was the best (overall) for a travel drone.
I’d kill for an adapter for the M2S or Autel Nano/Lights to have a great, compact drone package!

  20. Me DamnNoID on September 11, 2022 at 8:58 pm

Would be an Absolute improvement & make things sooooo much simpler & easier on us (the consumer) when traveling !!!
Thanks for all the wonderful up to date Info. & usually I see it here before anywhere.
Also was wondering if I am doing something wrong in my Youtube settings as I am not getting any advance notice in regards to Live feeds for DroningOn I do get a notice but they have all been after the live airing.???

  21. ozzieparky on September 11, 2022 at 8:59 pm

Never been too impressed with the charging mechanism on the mavic2pro. Have been using the dji charging hub for 3 batteries but if find it a bit fiddly in the case that I’ve got. A USBC connector would be so much easier – not so worried about the adapter block if it was still necessary..

  22. PD Tech on September 11, 2022 at 8:59 pm

Nice idea Ash. That’s why I like my Mavic Mini, I can charge it via my phone charger, through the micro USB in the drone, or on the go using the USB connector in my car. I’ve even used a USB powerbank to charge the drone directly on camping trips, or my 3 batteries through the charging hub, which also has USB connections.
My Mini came with no dedicated charger, I didn’t get the combo pack.👍😎

  23. V F on September 11, 2022 at 8:59 pm

ABSOLUTELY AGREE but I think this is the same story as lightning cable for iPhone and environmentally friendly packs. It is absolutely bull shit, DJI and 🍏 make money on us (customers). It is very profitable to have different types of 🔌 (more differences and adapters—->>> more money they have) 🤪

  24. obscured by clouds on September 11, 2022 at 9:00 pm

Absolutely brilliant idea and so simple. 👍

  25. t-eighthundred Two-thousand-eleven on September 11, 2022 at 9:01 pm

Yeah great idea, it makes so much sense for the consumer but the reason DJI make the plugs different it’s to force you to buy the chargers and make more profit… 🤷‍♂️.

  26. pipnmaz on September 11, 2022 at 9:01 pm

This makes so much sense to us, the consumer, but not to DJI who make money from selling the charging hubs in "Fly more" optional extras to make more money from us when we buy a new drone. If they adopt USB C charging then they are removing a portion of their revenue so it doesn’t make sense for them. I have 2 regular accommodations 300 miles apart and always carry my mavic air 2 with me but on my current trip I forgot the charge brick and hub so the drone is useless for the next few weeks unless I want to buy another charger. If the drone cod be charged via USB C then I could use it but sadly not.

  27. Fiko on September 11, 2022 at 9:02 pm

USB C should definitely become standard for drones as other device, so i totally agree with that!

  28. Aussie Stu Adventures on September 11, 2022 at 9:04 pm

That’s why I favour my mini charging setup over my air 2.
I am on the road a lot so I need a drone that can be easy charged. The Air 2 sucks. The connection falls off and the batteries fall out of the charger.
So for travelling I still need to use my mini.
Shame as the air 2 could replace the mini but due to the charging rubbish on the air I still need the 2 drones.

  29. Garth Woodworth on September 11, 2022 at 9:04 pm

Good idea! I really like good ideas. They do a lot of good, and most of the time they don’t cost anything

  30. chillimocha on September 11, 2022 at 9:06 pm

Think about it……why would DJI do this? They have take a lesson from Apples play book. They make squillions from these items, if they did away with those and went with USB charging then they would not make money from it. They deliberately change it slightly from one model to the next to make them incompatible. And environmental concerns, come on they could not care less about the environment, DJI exists for one reason only and that is to generate profit for Wang. Nothing wrong with that as such as he started the company but being environmentally conscious would not fit into his agenda.

  31. Philip Soon on September 11, 2022 at 9:06 pm

Strange that DJI would still have these proprietary type chargers. They are amongst the most innovative of all the Chinese tech manufacturers

  32. marcelfive1 on September 11, 2022 at 9:07 pm

I run usb-c chargers for my mavic mini. In the 3 way hub it takes 2h 15m to charge from 10% and 1h 30m with the usb-c cable, no brainer. I can charge up 3 from a power bank at the same time, so can do 3 before the DJI unit has done 1

  33. Jet Martin on September 11, 2022 at 9:09 pm

I have an Anafi and is just one of the many FANTASTIC features of the drone….so convenient. I hope DJI is listening…And Parrot please come back to the consumer drone business…we miss you! 😁

  34. Andre Brown on September 11, 2022 at 9:09 pm

Solar on drones makes more sense

  35. NICK's HIGHTECH on September 11, 2022 at 9:16 pm

This is the best idea ever.

  36. sputniksam on September 11, 2022 at 9:17 pm

This is one reason why my Parrot Anafi’s are my “Grab and Go” drones. I actually have one permanently in my car boot along with a USB-C power bank. Though thanks to the current situation and my susceptibility (don’t want to get you demonetised, so no names) I’ve not really been able to leave the house since March and use the “Mobile” Anafi.

  37. Im_a_Ukie on September 11, 2022 at 9:18 pm

well, here’s what I just found out, brand new ruko dim2 drone with usb-c ports on the side of the battery, great huh?? nope…C-to C-charging won’t happen, only usb-to C charging will happen. Have no idea why. Kind of pissed, 3 brand new battery’s…and no C to C charging. Comments please

  38. BKDRONEBOYZ on September 11, 2022 at 9:18 pm

    Definitely 👍 a GR8 IDEA

  39. Solent Ships on September 11, 2022 at 9:20 pm

Absolutely agree about using USB-C. It’s the USB standard for the future. I would be happy with a charging hub system as well, that then connected to USB-C.

Speed, Power, Great physical connector. USB-C all the way for me…

  40. Wanderingit on September 11, 2022 at 9:21 pm

    Good idea 💡 👍

  41. Boris Lipschitz on September 11, 2022 at 9:21 pm

USB-C definitely got enough power output on the higher profiles, but i really don’t think its technical at this point. DJI is making money selling those bricks with proprietary connectors. Its really that simple. And i guess we should be happy they didn’t think of adding an authentication chip to this… yet? 🙁

  42. Mavic MGE on September 11, 2022 at 9:22 pm

Great idea Ash – Take out a patent on it and licence it to DJI LOL

  43. PalmettoMoon on September 11, 2022 at 9:22 pm

They should make those type batteries for the new mini and future replacement batteries for the MA2. Moving forward they should just adapt this whole idea. It would be so much more user friendly. You also wouldn’t have to wait on each battery to be charged like it does on the hub if you were using three different USB-C cables 👍

This is a no brainer DJI.

  46. STEWBIE on September 11, 2022 at 9:27 pm

What you think DJI give a stuff about the environment , the new Mini has yet again another battery type. If this company really thought about it all their product would be interchangeable. But they don’t think about the environment,so as far as to put a USB C in their batteries I think that boat has sailed. You are so right though if this company wanted to save us money and them hassle it’s a no brainer. USB C ALL THE WAY. Listen DJI and please do it.

  47. graeme sweeney on September 11, 2022 at 9:29 pm

Does the mavic mini not charge through micro usb through the drone if you don’t have the charging hub. So not hard to do as you say look at parrot just for one manufacturer.

  48. Drone Ready on September 11, 2022 at 9:31 pm

Definately would like to see this implication of usb c

  49. Aerial Max on September 11, 2022 at 9:33 pm

Ive been saying this for years, ever since the dji spark came out. USB C all the things. Its one of the reasons I would want to get the mini 2, its got usb c in body charging and fast charging likely at 29w. DJI, if your reading this, please take this advice. Its a win win .

  50. Kovaction on September 11, 2022 at 9:33 pm

YES YES YES!!! I see no reason why this isn’t possible with Qualcomm 3 fast chargers… Let’s hope DJI does this soon.
