DJI Mavic vs Phantom 4 – Flight Time Test

DJI Mavic vs Phantom 4 – Flight Time Test

Buy DJI Mavic Pro:
Buy DJI Phantom 4 Pro:

The DJI Phantom has been the king of the skies for a while, but now the DJI Mavic Pro is changing how we fly quadcopters. This little drone has a smaller battery but boasts a longer flight time. See what happens when we put them both to the test to see which one will hover longer. We did our best to make this a fair comparison, but this is not a comprehensive test – simply a single data point. See which quad stayed airborne longer and what their estimated actual flight times should be.

    I LIKE DICKS!!!!

Cuz they are one of the best sporting store I know of

  2. ducati Jake on July 26, 2021 at 8:38 pm

Why shouldn’t you fully drain the battery’s?

  3. Savercop on July 26, 2021 at 8:41 pm

I find your video here really cool. Great recordings. I have something on my channel:

I also have a soft spot for beautiful aerial photographs with drones. Maybe you like to see my channel times and subscribe.

I definitely look back at you and subscribe.

Both of them were in ground effect…because of the loss of efficiency, the Phantom would have been at a pretty steep disadvantage due to its significantly higher weight over the Mavic…Also, "25%" on each of those batteries is actually very different when you’re talking about percentage of remaining capacity. The "inteligent battery" of the Mavic battery allows a much deeper discharge than the P4. depending on the age of the P4 battery a 25% could be closer to 40% in reality

can u use the Phantom 4 pro battery with regular phantom 4 to increase its flight time

  6. BK on July 26, 2021 at 8:43 pm

wind speed is stronger on higher altitude in my opinion therefore Phantom was not very lucky

  7. Jan Westin on July 26, 2021 at 8:45 pm

    Thanks for this comparison!

  8. Micah Dahlseide on July 26, 2021 at 8:45 pm

the mavic has longer flight time when its flying forward

  9. Michael Philip on July 26, 2021 at 8:46 pm

if you want better footage. phantom 4 easy. put the mavic at a higher altitude the battery isn’t as good as it doesn’t take wind as well

  10. Keith Gapol on July 26, 2021 at 8:48 pm

not a fair test – I assume your Phantom 4 battery is not new and far fewer cycles than the mavic since it is new. Get 2 new batteries, charge them and retest.

    Very nice test, thanx!

Mavic pro because mavic has 3 batteries

  14. Clint Hightower on July 26, 2021 at 8:53 pm

Great job, I already wanted a Mavic but this just makes me want one more lol It will be one of the last pieces I will be buying for my photography tools.

You can run these batteries down to an indicated 0% because there is more than just a basic LiPo in there. They are ‘intelligent’ so the controller inside will prevent them from getting to a real 0%. In some cases, such as if you look at the voltages across the cells and they are different, you might actually deliberately run them down to zero as it resets the controller inside and then the cells could be recharged equally and get some more life out of a battery that was poorly charged for some reason.

Love the video’s though, keep up the good work 😉

I think you did a good comparison, but I would like to see some landscape video and who was packing the best cam picture wise.
The mavic seemed a little less staple that the Phantom maybe that bigger battery helps there.
Seems like you can use your i phone or surface to fly the mavic ,so no extra transmitter really needed? Thanks,

Subbed your videos have helped me a lot and helped me in purchasing the Mavic

Well💢>JustU.Faith/DJI_Drone?香 I loved my Phantom 4. It was great until I went to fly this afternoon and as soon as I took off, it went crazy. I had no control, and when it finally crashed, it did into the river. I’m a very conscience flier; I never fly unless I am sure it is safe, my drone is in perfect condition and I have notified my local airport. I’m going to start the process with DJI to see if they will stand behind their product, and will update my review as that happens. I won’t buy one again at this point, and I would encourage anyone thinking about a drone to research the builder enough until they are comfortable with the warranty.

  27. Edo Prasojo on July 26, 2021 at 9:08 pm

Is it just me or anyone else here noticing that Phantom version drifts more than MAVIC but MAVIC does more and also frequent minor shaking?

What is price of Mavic drone

  34. Alex Crowder on July 26, 2021 at 9:15 pm

Funny that gearbest even sells the DJI mavic. Who the heck would pay to ship it from china when you can get it at frys and bestbuy in 15 minutes for $400 less. You can currently buy this drone for $800 online, or $900 in stores. So why pay $1300 for one shipped from China?

Stuff worth noting: Lipo has less energy density than Lion.. Either way though the chemistry part of the battery with either type typically is manufactured for economics not efficiency, and then you have the integrated self-protection/control circuitry that reserves some of that for itself and limits discharge.

You get someone good with battery manufacturing processes and an electrical engineer and a good controller firmware you could probably boost flight time at least 30% with either tech with the same geometry.

They probably didn’t do the actual drone circuitry with optimization either.

  41. george moore on July 26, 2021 at 9:22 pm

what’s the name of the application you use for the wind directions and speed

  42. James Clark on July 26, 2021 at 9:25 pm

You said both batteries had less than 10 charges on them. I’ve never owned one of these drones so please ignore my ignorance but does the more than 10 charges break the batteries in and you can have alittle more flight time for your buck? Or do they die off quicker with more charges?

  43. Su Amigo El Ilegal on July 26, 2021 at 9:25 pm

both of this two are very good and have advantages over the other one. mavic u cannot catch it with ur hand like the phantom but mavic is so much smaller to carry. phantom is more elegant and good looking and mavic is just a racing looking drone .I think that’s all

  44. C.G.C on July 26, 2021 at 9:28 pm

You should have tried this with the drones coming home to you to see when it would come home on low battery life. Send the drones away somewhere and see if they do come home!
