DJI Mavic Pro Range Test – How far will it go?

DJI Mavic Pro Range Test – How far will it go?

UPDATE May 2020 – Check out the Mavic Air 2: https://bit.ly/2MavicAir
Mavic Air 2 has a 10km range and 30+ minute flight time!

DJI Mavic Pro Platinum: https://goo.gl/pWA3Hh

Want to know how far the DJI Mavic Pro will go? We went to a HUGE ranch and flew the Mavic Pro until we got a weak transmission signal. Check out the results in this drone review video. Note that we used the new, updated DJI Mavic Platinum propellers for slightly longer flight time.
The DJI Mavic Pro, while a bit dated at this point, is still an amazing drone at a very reasonable price point for what you get.

I got a mavic pro platinum a 2 months ago and I’m very happy with it except that it doesn’t go over 740m or 0.4 miles. I don’t know if I have to fix something on settings to make it go farther. Did yours go that far from the beginning or you had to enable some for it to be able to do so? Thanks so much.

  7. Mauricio Garcia on November 23, 2021 at 10:17 am

why don’t you get up from the chair and point the antennas in the direction of the Mavic, so as not to lose the signal so soon

  11. Tony Holmes on November 23, 2021 at 10:22 am

You did 12000ft out and 12000 coming back which is a total of 7km as advertise ! Which is almost 5 miles flight time

  12. tajcen on November 23, 2021 at 10:23 am

mavic mini got to 5 km

  13. vmaxfodder on November 23, 2021 at 10:23 am

that is pretty close to what I worked out for duration / stamina.

There are a lot of questions about why this didn’t go as far as DJI advertises. I can offer a couple of thoughts. First, I probably could have gone farther, but not wanting to risk losing my Mavic, I decided to turn around as soon as I got the weak transmission signal message. Second, it was pretty windy this day and the Mavic was fighting the wind on the way out. Third, there are probably things I could have done like fly in sport mode, fly higher than 225′, or moved away from the big metal building I was next to that may have resulted in a longer flight before getting a weak signal. I completely agree with those comments. This video is just supposed to be a data point, not THE data point about the Mavic’s range. Thanks for all the comments and thanks for watching!

how can we buy it if its out of stock?

  16. Rusty Stainless on November 23, 2021 at 10:25 am

Geez, that was so funny, at 4:50 it is telling you to adjust the antenna, the radar on the left is telling you where the drone is in relation to the controller and you didn’t turn the controller towards the drone. And the fact that you were flying at about one foot per second was just painful. You have certainly demonstrated that pilot error is a sure way to make the drone under perform.

My Platinum goes for miles until I tell it to come back , these things are Awsome .

  18. Finn Ryan on November 23, 2021 at 10:26 am

to warm the battery up you can put it in the microwave

  19. akaredcrossbow on November 23, 2021 at 10:26 am

Is there anyway to override the force landing? I’m pretty safe with my Mavic and keep it pretty close to me when the battery gets low! The Mavic tries to force land and I find myself fighting with it to keep it in the air, fly it at the same time and not land itself in a dangerous spot.
    Thank You!

  20. I’M All IN on November 23, 2021 at 10:29 am

You could still going far away as 35% battery left

  21. Jim H on November 23, 2021 at 10:30 am

Very interesting video! I know 0 about drones and I just learned a little bit. What is the price range of these drones?

  22. Ashton Beattie on November 23, 2021 at 10:30 am

you should have used sport mode. It moves much faster and you would have been able to make the trip faster without much more battery drain.

  23. SDU-Tango on November 23, 2021 at 10:32 am

Cool ino, maybe easier way is have someone drive the drone away and take off somewhere far away, the start going farther? You can also land far away where someone picks it back up.

  24. the sniper on November 23, 2021 at 10:33 am

all the way to the scene of the crash

  25. Sean and Liv on November 23, 2021 at 10:35 am

If you don’t get that far range, try adjusting the Antennas Perpendicular to the drone maybe that might help?

  26. KANJA on November 23, 2021 at 10:36 am

We’ve made the same test ( https://youtu.be/VYsdYZvb0t0 ) and the distance was quite longer. What had been your total flight time when made this test?

I know this is one of your older videos, but because I just ordered a Mavic 2 Zoom I wanted to watch it. Anyway, on your app screen, left side, the controller ICON kept changing to an airplane/C1 ICON and then back. I’ve never seen that before; what is it?

  38. Ibrahim Ayyan on November 23, 2021 at 10:52 am

The drone can go 20, 000

  39. Homer on November 23, 2021 at 10:52 am

I think the furthest I ever got was 9,000.

  40. Troy Penland on November 23, 2021 at 10:54 am

i thought those things was supose to be able to go 6 miles out before. signal. failure? 2. some odd miles is no where even close .

  41. john on November 23, 2021 at 10:56 am

    this is illegal lol

  42. resonantfrequency7125 on November 23, 2021 at 10:56 am

Yeah, but that doesn’t really test the drone itself. A range test really test radio PROPAGATION that day. Propagation changes day to day, depending on many factors, such as location, time of day, geographical obstacles, and solar conditions. Observe the following VHF propagation map as an example, http://aprs.mennolink.org/ 73, de AE1JB.

  43. Kevon Pryce on November 23, 2021 at 10:59 am

    Cool

  48. Jeremy Boyce on November 23, 2021 at 11:06 am

Hi Kelly , 2.27 miles is a lot of distance too so there should be no argument at all about the Mavic Pro and distance .
