DJI FPV – Flight Time Test – How Long Can You Really Fly It?

DJI FPV – Flight Time Test – How Long Can You Really Fly It?

Buy DJI FPV Drone: https://amzn.to/2QXtcwc
DJI claims that their new FPV drone can fly for 20 minutes on a single battery charge in perfect conditions. But what about in the real world? We test the flight time in acro and normal flight modes, plus compare those to how long the drone will hover in place. We took each fully charged battery down to 25% and then calculated how long it would _theoretically_ fly if the battery went down to 0%.

i just wanted to see this drowne fly 20 miunits but my dreams dosent come true im looking for droone that can fly more

  2. bushgreen on August 16, 2022 at 8:13 pm

*Why don’t you just fly it down to 5%. You’re not even flying it far away from you, you should fly it to 5%.*

  3. Philip Alonzo on August 16, 2022 at 8:15 pm

My question is how can you fly 10nm away in 10 min ?

  4. Pyromancer on August 16, 2022 at 8:15 pm

I just can’t wait to fly on M mode. Watching you fly it is giving me some serious FOMO.😩

  5. Scum Island on August 16, 2022 at 8:16 pm

20 minutes I’m Normal mode only. You take it into sport or manual the flight time drops to about 5 minutes

  6. Drone Ready on August 16, 2022 at 8:18 pm

Great test…so 20 minutes is conceivable in nearly perfect conditions.

  7. Bodie2012 on August 16, 2022 at 8:20 pm

if i have an SD card on the drone and goggles and push rec does it record on both sd’s? noob question, i know. I’m having a hard time trying to figure out how to record directly on the drone it only seems to record what’s on the googles. I feel the quality would be better if I’m getting it directly from the drone.

Getting mine tomorrow looking forward to it arriving good video

  9. Stephen hamilton on August 16, 2022 at 8:23 pm

I’ve had a few drones. Mavic 2, mini mavic and now the mini mavic 2 (I crash them all)

I ordered one of these and will prob wreck it in the first min lol…..but I’m so disappointed on the battery life. Especially when the mini mavic is rated 30mins.

I just want to know if this is actually good for the speed etc it does. Do proper racing drones do much longer than this, batterys ways….and is this battery life kind of expected of something with the power it has?

  10. Andres Chapero on August 16, 2022 at 8:24 pm

I just purchased this drone. Love it but hope one day DJI sells a better battery for it.

  11. Addy Overbeeke on August 16, 2022 at 8:24 pm

As usual Kelly, great field experience testing and video edit for us droners to review. I slowly am starting to warm up to maybe getting the DJI FPV Drone? I am not a acro droner but understand how this DJI FPV is a game changer for flight time from traditional FPV custom or almost ready to fly FPV drones. Filling the nitch between camera drones and hard core FPV droners… actually pretty smart of DJI marketing department.
I know the effort that goes into making these videos, so thanks for that and sharing it.

  12. Drone Views Media on August 16, 2022 at 8:24 pm

Great video, as always! Man, I envy your FPV flying skills, it’s such a steep learning curve coming from years of doing traditional droning. I’m like a fish out of water 😅

    Helpful

  14. FlyingSasquatch on August 16, 2022 at 8:26 pm

As an Fpv pilot I am so glad to see this, 20 minutes in manual/acro is killer tiring. Thank you for the test I have been wanting to see this exact scenario!

  15. FlyingSasquatch on August 16, 2022 at 8:26 pm

Looks like this is exactly what I am looking for in the fact that you use the “normal mode” to cruise to the mountain you want to dive or the distant shoreline and then rip it and tell it ok come on home……

How do you change the head skin to the green one? Please post a video, or can anyone paste a video link on how too? Thanks

  19. Smooth_Ops on August 16, 2022 at 8:30 pm

    4 DJI FPV BATTERIES = $600
4 HOBBY GRADE FPV BATTERIES =$80….. WOW!! That’s just crazy how expensive these DJI batteries are 🤪

  20. Jean Martin on August 16, 2022 at 8:32 pm

    go faster! zZzZzz…

  21. NukularPower on August 16, 2022 at 8:33 pm

i consistently get 25% less than this. The battery life is my biggest issue with this drone, combined with the ridiculous price of extra batteries 🙁

  22. Beloved Lion on August 16, 2022 at 8:34 pm

Got my first flight in today, so you know i need this info!! Great work, ya dig

  23. Multicopter on August 16, 2022 at 8:34 pm

    Great flight time test !!!

  24. R. U. KIDDING on August 16, 2022 at 8:39 pm

  25. Philip Alonzo on August 16, 2022 at 8:40 pm

Im getting 8min to 10 on sport mode kinda wished id get 20 min

  26. Ghosttjr on August 16, 2022 at 8:42 pm

Great video! Can I buy just the controller and use it to fly with the virtual flight app? Thanks

  27. Kolsch221 T on August 16, 2022 at 8:42 pm

Why buy the landing pad and don’t land on it? Oh and GO HORNS!! 😁

  28. EveryDayDrones on August 16, 2022 at 8:45 pm

Awesome video! I just ordered the DJI FPV combo and I found this video to have great information on expected flight times threw out the different flight modes and very interesting to watch! Thumbs up for the like.

That startup sound gets me hyped everytime!!!

  30. John Cuppi on August 16, 2022 at 8:50 pm

Great testing, this helps showcase what you can really expect with different flying styles. The last result was the closest that I have seen someone come to the advertised flight time on the DJI FPV drone so far flying it steady and normally. I’d say based on your testing it’s probably safe to say that for most real world scenarios (not controlled flight style/path or hovering in place) 10 minutes or less should be expected.

  31. Antonio Laso on August 16, 2022 at 8:50 pm

good video, please tell us about your fpv case

  32. Bill14886 on August 16, 2022 at 8:51 pm

Great video, no surprise on results but now newbies know. You use the gas peddle more you use more fuel.

  33. Tater Rogers on August 16, 2022 at 8:51 pm

    Hope to get one sometime

  34. JB-FPV on August 16, 2022 at 8:52 pm

That on hands of pro freestyle pilots i estimate under 5 minutes

  35. KingCobra707 on August 16, 2022 at 8:52 pm

Why mention your not flying over houses? Your breaking the law by not keeping line of sight or flying with a spotter..

  36. DIW on August 16, 2022 at 8:54 pm

But why only 25% ? DJI hat set 94% as full Battery so there is 6% capacity for worst case scenario. I do set parameters to 7% RTH and 0% for critical landing thats almost enough headroom to not damage the batterys.

  37. mcthemis62402 on August 16, 2022 at 8:54 pm

    OR READ THE MANUAL!!!

  38. Paul Wood on August 16, 2022 at 8:54 pm

The more I see the more I confirm it as a pointless acquisition given every thing I own already does the job and well exceeds its flying time. For me a fan boy machine with deep pockets but great to see some proper testing.

  39. Jims Droneing on August 16, 2022 at 8:55 pm

    great test Kelly

  40. RAW TOPSHOT on August 16, 2022 at 8:55 pm

Thank you sir please next video top speed

  42. TYPE xxi - WOLF on August 16, 2022 at 8:58 pm

    20 minutes promised

but you might add 3 footnotes … explaining
    * flying in normal and eco at same altitude up n down bring 18.30
    **
*** under 8 minutes arco – full power at 15°C

real word is more or less just 10 minutes … 6 batteries to recharge each used to fly battery after battery and to give each battery after charging a 20 minute cool down phase … would mean 750€ in spare batteries at least.

too much money or too less flight time … unfortunatelly.

Nice work mate ! and Thanks. I’ve Been flying RC for 45+ years and building drones since the KK boards and Naza’s first controller, this FPV a/c has been the best fun of all of them 🙂

  46. Mike Belknap on August 16, 2022 at 9:02 pm

Excellent real world data. Thanks for the post.

  47. Tomislav Bošnjak on August 16, 2022 at 9:04 pm

Ideal spead is 40 km/h in one direction becose DJI has arms desing light winght and that help drone to save pover, its half a drone and half a fixed winng.

  48. Eugene Sayles on August 16, 2022 at 9:05 pm

Thanks for showing us DJI FPV’s flight time on different scenarios. I’m getting more and more interested in this drone.

  49. Smooth_Ops on August 16, 2022 at 9:08 pm

This product is great for people just getting into FPV with it’s trick software that enables anybody to fly immediately. You definitely pay for the convenience it gives you, ($150 per bat) but hopefully it will make people want to become more interested in the FPV hobby as a whole and maybe build one in the future👍🏻.

Definitely won’t be on my list. Got the pro and air. Thats just not worth the money. !!
