Dangerously Close Near Miss of Drone at JFK Airport | NBC Nightly News
how come never drone pics or parts just a bunch of talk!!!!!!!!!!!! never proof just talk!!!!!!!!!
Where’s the evidence of these so called daily drone incursions?
Good ol’ LiveATC….love that website.
Search "long range FPV" on Youtube and tell these irresponsible people they shouldn’t be endangering real airplanes while they sit safely on the ground. The FAA doesn’t seem to being doing the obvious and tracking down the people posting these videos.
Why don’t they ban drones except for Military use?
hey he did the debate last night
Matter of time but it will happen
Get drones to patrol the sky around airports to look for drones flying near airports.
So what can be done?
Obviously those people operating the drones in question don’t give a hoot about the law (since they’re already breaking the law) so stronger regulations are clearly not a workable option. Even a ban would not affect those who obviously feel they have no obligation to obey the law.

"STIFF FINES"? No jail? Flying a drone in commercial traffic pathways potentially killing 100’s of people calls for a fine? Possession of a gram of cocaine costs more!
bullshit
Where dafuq da footage of dis near miss..?!?!?!?????
Newer gps drones have their own maps that don’t let them even start up in no fly areas. The future is now
Drones should come with a brain detector
yet no evidence.
They need to ban drones in airports before it kills people
Typical MSM twisted/fake news story. The pilot reported seeing something off his right wing but gave no distance estimate. When asked about the ALTITUDE he said probably 100 feet below. Altitude is not separation distance! It could have been many hundreds or even a thousand feet away. That is required by basic geometry. In order to be both 100 feet below and 100 feet separation, the alleged drone would have had to have been DIRECTLY underneath the aircraft.
However, the pilot reported the drone to be off his right wing… If it were actually 10 degrees down LOS, the the alleged drone would have been 567 feet away – almost two football fields distant! Hardly a "near-miss" because the drone would have been little more than a speck in the sky
The reliability of this report has been seriously challenged. The speed and distance factors of the aircraft would have made accurate visual identification of something as small as a hobbyist drone very difficult. If it was indeed very close it would flash by so fast that it could become easily confused with a bird. If it was far enough away to not flash past, it would appear too small to be reliably identifiable.
Anti drone system, including radar, radio monitoring, and camera for drone detection, and jammed for blocking. Details on http://jh-police.com/anti-uav-system.
..190mph it was 100ft away at 1700ft altitude.. lol sounds like a bird, plastic bag, etc. Where is the evidence?
close near-miss? you mean near-hit?
drones should be banned in and near airports
No wonder why drone operators are getting a bad name…
The report is false. No evidence, no video, just an idiot pilot reporting a bird as a drone. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Drones are limited to 1500feet not the reported 1700+ feet the video says this one was flying.
Lmfaooo we need more of this
No, we need the Airmap to become the official app that will control the airspace for drones. Pilots and atc controllers need to have access to this information. People need to get a license to fly a drone.
False report. Pilot when asked what was the altitude of the reported drone was "probably 100ft below me" That’s not an altitude…. A Pilot would normally be far more precise when giving details
u guys are just going to keep pushing it until drones are made illegal. then ima laugh
I live in Montana, and drones flying over forest fires will ground firefighting efforts from the air.
I live in nyc and drones ARE allowed to fly at Bennett field 400feet and below. Not to mention all the big manufacturers DJI will not allow the drone to fly outside the allowed airspace. Completely false report just for the views
ATC communicated to the Jet Blue 958 about the drone…!!! What Can Jet Blue’s pilot does about it??? Avoid it..??? Push the brake pedal??? BS
