I know nothing about drones, but thinking of getting one. Are there infrared cameras like regular security cameras that can see clear at night? Would love to use one at night to keep an eye on my property.

i was planning to go for night flying but i was wondering if i could a small beacon just as aerodrome identification beacon used by air crafts in night for identification of airfield at night.
so i thought of using Ambulance beacon on ground with a car battery for spotting night landing zone.

    Hey 51 Drone,
I hope you and your family are healthy and doing welling today…under these uncharacteristic times.
I watched the suggested 🍊Orange video. I was under the impression that it was a “how to” video in reference to video editing…than a WHYY – PBS type video about Iceland 🇮🇸…😂🤣😂
…and I don’t know about you…but…a night out to dinner 🍽 with the wife…is always a $200 outing…so…$195 is about right. The second hotel appeared nicer than the first…but…it’s location wasn’t that great…to me.
All in all…it was a enjoyable video of the sights of Iceland and I may visit someday. 😃👍🏽

You should update the discription and ad the FAA Advisory Circular 91-57B to the list.
Visual line of sight is only one part, you also need to see whats on the ground under the drone, like people an vehicles.

  29. Apollos on August 15, 2021 at 10:36 pm

I believe in the U.S., in order to fly at night you also need anti-collision lights, as both a hobbyist and a part 107 pilot. I could be wrong but that’s my understanding. I bought a very bright strobe light for the top of my drone just to be on the safe side. Great video and thanks for the info!

  30. Claire Wright on August 15, 2021 at 10:37 pm

how can you study for the test so you can use the drone to make money for drone videos.

  31. Michael Surgeon on August 15, 2021 at 10:38 pm

Do you think much has changed since you made these videos in what 2018 and now? I just bought a dji mav pro 2 mainly for the camera, so much to learn about settings. and also a new pilot well at least unmanned aircraft. Any new videos coming soon?

My Night Waiver is my own God given Rights n I believe n will die keeping my Oath to the American People n Our US Constitution, BoRights n Republic n the IDF. I use strobes during daylight hours which us ole paradogz need getting old.

Night flying, my experience was quite exhausting to say the least n then some. It was 2200 n cloudy. A storm was nearby so I thought I’d see if I could get some shots of lightning nearby. I drove my truck down thru the woods to my small open meadow. I had my LEDs strobes mounted up along with my square LEDs that someone sells for 200 bucks. I forgot my flashlight n didn’t have my marko Polo tracker on. As I was just going to fly n see how it looked at nighttime. Off I went, not testing return home n other checks. The lights were great, at about 8 mins into the flight my M2P for some odd reason took off n I could momentary get it to turn n fly back a few moments but there it went again. I had only had flown 4 times since new.

I just got out of the hospital for falling 5ft from my bed n crushed my T12/11 vertebrates. I already had a fusion with hardware n artificial disc above that n pain stimulator that quit working after 6mos. Ok, so I been out for 5 weeks n thought I’d go fly. My wife said I shouldn’t do it at night n was worried about me falling again. I going to fly my bird. After it took off, I panicked n the only light I had was the smart controller light which I didn’t know how to adjust in a panic. I tried to keep my bearings of the direction it took n I took off kinda senseless type of run. I couldn’t see much n started off through the woods n tripped over a damn tree, n barely made it to my feet. I was sweating like a sick pig having a abortion. All of a sudden it said outloud Landing Initiated, or something like that. I was thinking oh sh$$ I don’t even have this paid for n I can’t tell the wife I lost it. I kept going n must have tripped n fell several more times. I was able to reach the woodsland edge n no drone anywhere. I climbed a red pine about 15ft n I thought I saw a flash possibly. I got about 8 ft down n a branch broke n down I went. I was cut left n right by now n soaked with sweat n sick feeling losing my M2P I saved for over 3 yrs.

Hod must have felt my pain cuz I went into a pasture about 3/4 of mile from my original take off point. Then I spotted a flash n then more. I hunkered down cuz that ole farmer was a jerk off n if he’d find it first he’d probably never give it back. I kinda limped n jogged but by then everything was hurting. I found my drone, all safe n nestled in a hay field by a fence post but appeared ok. My journey home was better as I used the leds strobes. I honestly had no idea where I was cuz I couldn’t see anything but lightning many miles away. I made it back to my truck 2hrs later.

I got in n it was 0215 n the wife turned on a light n said that was a quick 20 minutes. I worried cuz you forgot your phone again. Then, oh my goodness what happened to your legs n arms? I never told her the whole story but I never have flown at night since. lol.

I can laugh today, but at the time it wasn’t funny. I took a shower n the first rinse was light red colored water n my side was real sore n my surgery site as well. So, go fly your drone at night. Just make sure you have a open area without thick woodsland n rocks. Most my falls were on rocks. That’s my story, hope u have better luck.

You seem like a good guy trying to do the right thing…. By informing the public. So don’t mention the trolls on your videos. That is what they feed off of… ignoring them is the best retaliation. 👍👍👍

Thank you. Great informative video. Its great he keeps reassuring the audience that his information is correct and accurate…..i dont like those that arent exactly sure with the subject matter and always offer vague statements, like "….you MAY…" instead of "you WILL"….lacking definiteness of accuracy of information.
