Everything you said is true. The DJI "no-fly-zones" though (at least the ones I’ve dealt with), are not accurate at all, as shown on their website. As far as their unlocking scheme, it is absolutely none of their business who I am working for or what I am doing there (and why would they need my driver’s license?). What they are saying is that they will determine my customer’s need for me to fly there. How arrogant. I understand that government control of every part of their life is the norm where these are made and they are probably wondering why some of us have a problem with it, but here, we get suspicious about what they want to use the information for (especially the military…Precision targeting was one of the concerns.). My 107 and a Waiver should be the most that is required in this country.

I know this video is old but my question about the prison is we have a abandoned prison and I wanted to know if that requires special clearance

When a city or state official or agency interferes with federal law by interfering with air space or whatever else how is it going to bite them? Whether it’s an individual cop, police department policy, a city ordinance or whatever else it’s not going to bite any of them. The worst that could happen is somebody comes along with a lot of time and money and is willing to fight through the courts to have the law overturned. None of those individuals are gonna lose a drop of sweat and they’re probably going to be on the payroll for the whole ride so they’re really not going to get bit.

The more likely scenario is that if most of us drone pilots resist too strongly their interference we’ll probably get arrested and charged with a crime, maybe we sit in jail for a while. The charges may or may not be dropped later and now we’re back to somebody who needs a lot of time and money to fight through court. Sad but true 🙁

You guys know that several people have already been arrested for flying drones were they were legally allowed to fly in that state and local ordinances were in violation of federal law but those people were still arrested. I think you should be more careful about encouraging people to Ignore officer Buba, his town council or the state legislature. Trying to convince them to let you fly by showing them federal law and things like that is a good idea but if they say no and you say watch me I’m gonna fly… you getting locked up
