Buying A Drone For Touring Australia? WATCH THIS FIRST! (what to get/ how to fly it/ rules etc…)
G’day guys,
We often get asked about our recommendation on buying a drone for travelling in Aus – there’s lots to consider and a pretty wide range of drones available. I hope this vid helps you decide on whether a drone is for you.

Great to see a new video, Thanks for info on drones as currently looking to purchase for our big lap ππ
Thanks for this vid. ππ» You have just saved me about 1K!
Shame about stepping in the π©!
Cam thank you for the great video and what happened to your first three drones i.e. what caused their demise?
Good explanation, i hope dji sponsore you. Not only as an avid user but for your detail in all conditions. Thank you.
Well presented, thanks.
Would like to see a Vid on how your previous drones came to an end. So we can all learn π
Thank you so much for this, it was very helpful.
Great informative vid, as always. Thanks for highlighting that there are many layers of governance over drone legal drone use and not necessarily consisent across state borders. Absolutely do your research before just popping a drone up and setting off! Nice touch including this dog minefield misstep, having three dogs ourseles, we had a good laugh over that one. Been there, stepped in that ourselves!.
Just went and bought first drone after watching this π€£
DJI Mavic Air 2
Great review Cam. Iβve had the Mavic Pro Platinum since itβs release and still going great, just waiting for the Mavic 3 to be released then Iβll upgrade.
I purchased an iPad mini to use instead of my phone plus it doubles for main Off-road navigation.
I think SA has similar rules for flying drones, not allowed in national parks unless you purchase a permit to fly. The abundance Cliffs on the Nullarbor is a big one for having to have a permit. Lots of people arenβt aware they need a permit to fly their drones over the cliffs for that epic shot.. Iβm saving my pennys for one. I have a cheap drone and itβs so hard to fly and control.
Hey Cam, great info, thanks for that! It can be so hard to know if you are doing the right thing when it comes to flying your drone
I have a Mavic Air and using a phone i had a lot of trouble viewing the screen on a sunny day, so i bought an Crystal Sky monitor and it is great, problem solved, and the screen is bigger but they are expensive.
Hi Cam, great video mate. I still wouldnβt buy a MA2 over the M2P though. I think the camera on the pro is worth every cent IMO π
Looking forward to your next upload mate π€π»π€π»π€π»
The Drone footage is next level Cam
Thanks for another great video
Ps : Wear ya thongs mate π©π©΄
Hi Cam. Like the hair. Now i seriously want a drone. Hi Chloe. Godspeed.
Great vid man. Big help for me.
Geat vid, Cam. Cheers
Hi Cam thanks for doing this video it was really informative and makes it seem less scary! I have one question and that is can you control the camera angle while flying or do you even need to?
Good timing on dropping the vid……
Torn between Mavic Mini and Air
We are wanting still shots more than video
Thoughts
To have something that is so easy to fly and with that footage quality for the price is insane. The majority of the laws sound like common sense. But there will always be a few elements that are over the top. Better than having a free for all.
Great review Cam, not sure about the poo though.
Hi Cam
Great video as usual
Have you had problems with your Gimbal when driving on corrugated roads?
Another UTuber has but maybe it fixed now
We have a Mavic Pro. Love if
G’day mate, really will explained.I have the original DJI Mavic pro ,an exceptional aircraft…
Very nice
Very helpful thanks
Cheers

Ha cam π cool presention 4th drone ππ can u use a Samsung tablet for the screen ?? Thanks mate
Another good and informative video. I have a Mavic Pro with not so many sensors great drone though. Have a couple of Gopro’s and mounts for the fix wing Jabiru cheers
π€¦πΌββοΈ right in the dog π©π€£π€£
Whatβs the contact details of your wifeβs decal business? May need a few decals for our camper.
Yer your back good on you cam πͺπΌπ¦πΊππ½ππΌ
About 8mth ago I managed to buy a new Mavic Air on sale from Officeworks for only $600.00 less than 1/2 price great toy…it also takes great group photos, it’s like a tripod up in the air.
Nicely explained Thanks for that.
Cheers.
We certainly recommend DJI drones BUT I am not a fan of their apps. We switched to the Litchi app which is very powerful and also easy to learn. It works with the older DJI drones as well such as the Phantom 3 and effectively turns the P3 into a P4.
Thanks for the lessons Cam. Sorry about you step on dog’s poo lol
Hey Cam great informative episode, pleased to see little Chloe and Tiff in the background, canβt wait till your all back on the road really missing your regular updates. Keep up the great work !!πππ
We have found the same in the top end restrictions everywhere
Steeping in dog sh$t and still going on .Thats commitment.
Awesome demo Cam, youβve given hubby many tips! Cheers mate π
Great information there guys. I’ve been looking at getting one but haven’t taken the leap yet! The footage you guys get is inspiring. Thanks for your info and preferences on which one you rate. Would only get DJI anyway. I’m cautious because years ago I bought a very expensive petrol driven plane and smashed it to bits on my maiden flight!π€£π€£ You have put me at ease a bit. Cheers guys.ππ
Great clip, very good info Thanks.
Nice work Cam, Queensland has made it not worth having one IMHO, No Drone Fly Zones. Just a shame when minorities wreck it for the majority.
Great informative video mate….I do love my DJI drone – I can also add that in my opinion it is well worth purchasing the initial insurance that DJI offer. When I crashed my MP2 DJI were amazing at sending me a replacement very quickly!!
I must admit when you stepped in the dog turn i smelt it all the way from here!!
I was looking at a drone today I think I’m going to more research thanks Cam
Another awesome video π―ππ
So between purchase and smashing it into a tree, it will avoid trees π
I was thinking they might be useful for finding tracks, especially less used tracks. What kind of distance can you get the DJR to respond in lightly treed location?
Great vid mate and itβs nice to hear a review based totally on experience.
Bloody good onya
As someone who’d never had a drone before, we bought the mini mavic about a year ago – and it’s been so good!! Such a great entry point, and we haven’t felt too restricted with the basic model! Would love to upgrade at some stage – but it’s a want and not a need! Did you see DJI’s new FPV drones – they look insane!
