Listen at time 2.20 , it sounds like the drone is saying ”sloppy ”. Brilliant clip. I personally prefer this type of movie any day with drones or machines , the Borg or the original Cylons rather than the ‘gory monster’ ones . Thanks RAZR, Kieron.

These are the machines from sci-fi movies that were terrifying scary (in no particular order):
1)Tripods from War of the Worlds
    2) Drones from Oblivion
    3) Sentinels from X-men: Days of Future Past

I’ve watched many sci-fi movies but those three were the scariest ones for me.

😳This is the dystopian future we will all face if autonomous weapons aren’t outright banned or at least heavily restricted.

  18. Tim Gaastra on September 2, 2021 at 11:08 pm

The thing I like about these drones is that they play against type and trope to some degree to make their own sort of horror.

Sci-fi is rife with the alien threat looking organic and scary, and obviously that can be done really well (Giger/Alien) and it plays into our fear of disease and infection and the wild and that works but obviously its been done.

Similarly, a lot sci-fi alien/threat just plays on the idea of death… You get things like the terminators which while modern look like walking skeletons and all the fears that helps conjure.

But these things, they could be an Apple product, from the clean whites and chrome and lines to the very "UX approved" sounds they make, and there’s something about that when you think about it that is deeply disturbing. Like the apocalypse will be focus-tested to ensure the very best experience.

  25. Luis Machado on September 2, 2021 at 11:17 pm

These kinds of drones combined with the use of all the types of missiles that already exist would be unstoppable. Those ideas may already circulate among military circles…Actually the drones don’t look very alien like, they look like they were built by humans

A Turkish drone has autonomously have tracked and made a decision to terminate human beings with out any human interference in Libya last year. It has been discussed in U.N meeting and a report has been published. According to the U.N. report, Turkish-made Kargu-2 lethal autonomous aircraft launched so-called swarm attacks, likely on behalf of Libya’s Government of National Accord, against the general Haftar’s militias in March last year, marking the first time AI-equipped drones accomplished a successful attack. Remnants of a Kargu-2 were recovered later.

The use of autonomous drones that do not require human operators to guide them remotely once they have been programmed is opposed by many human rights organizations. There were rumors that Turkish-supplied AI drones, alongside remote-guided ones, were used last year by Azerbaijani forces in their clashes with Armenia in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh and its surrounding territories.

Conclusion: This movie scenario is not far from us at all.
