Residential drone delivery will be a failure that never happens. One word. Rain. You think they’re going to have two systems, trucks and drones, to use depending on the weather. No.

What happens if you purchase a drone through amazon air? Does it just fly over by itself?

  9. Gustav Crock on September 4, 2020 at 10:45 am

LMFAO, you do realize how many people are going to blast these things out of the sky.

  10. Lou Sweet on September 4, 2020 at 10:46 am

Anyone know the name of the company who manufacturers these? Could be a gold mine to invest in?

  11. Timmothy Copeland on September 4, 2020 at 10:47 am

  12. Nortonics on September 4, 2020 at 10:49 am

  13. Apiliqa Company on September 4, 2020 at 10:50 am

Dear developers! We work in the same field. We have developed and are introducing the Apiliqa One 4G drone (quadrocopter) into the industry and government for online air monitoring. Developed a control system via the Internet without delay. Adropilot and PixHawk were also used. After many tests, they created a reliable car made from a carbon frame. More than 500 hours of flight on the latest version without problems, the drone is sold in the public domain – this is not a prototype. We collect the batteries ourselves. Our team consists of 3 people. All specialists with higher education. You can see examples of drone flights at the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJrJAnTIexg&t=60с (presentations on request)
Also, at the request of the administration, they began to shoot 360 videos first.

Is there any way to work with you?
    Hope to cooperate!

  14. blakespower on September 4, 2020 at 10:51 am

can they be flown in a real city setting? not a giant open field with no trees or buildings or electrical lines. Also how much weather can they take? are they grounded on breezy and rainy days?

  15. Brian Courtice on September 4, 2020 at 10:53 am

Meanwhile the FAA is actively initiating a rule to make model airplanes illegal so that the skies above our homes and streets can be filled with swarms of flying robots.

All the boomers will be shooting them down

  17. Dasdfjkl on September 4, 2020 at 10:57 am

It is just too impractical. Off the top of my head, I think: 1) Metal objects and compass/gps systems will make the target larger and larger the farther the distance the drone flies so a successful delivery of any practical distance is almost impossible. 2) Electric drones have a limited travel range. Many drones will crash on their way back because the batteries will run out of current from unforeseen conditions. Drones need perfect weather to fly. 3) Drone delivery will be very expensive. Maintaining and programming a drone, loss of drones, crashes involving liability claims. 4) Theft. Thieves will see unattended drones in the air or on the ground as easy targets to steal and sell the components. 5) Fire hazards. It is likely that the batteries powering the drones will burst into flames as has happened on many unmanned aircraft using high performance batteries. 6) Liability claims. Customers may put their hands into rotating propellers in their haste to get their package or a drone may crash into their home in which case the company will have to compensate for.

I think that paying a kid $15/hour to drive an electric scooter or electric car 15 miles would be a lot cheaper and a lot more practical and a lot more accurate and a lot more safe and just as fast as autonomous drone delivery.

  25. inyazserg Sergey Larin on September 4, 2020 at 11:08 am

in my country they still steal my parcels and letters left near my door. The drones need some vandal-proof mechanism.

  30. John Smith on September 4, 2020 at 11:13 am

How does this fly in high winds? Windshear? Rain? Fog? What about icing conditions? What about birds? Birds of prey will attack it. How does it avoid other drones? Drones from other companies? How can we be sure these drones won’t be used in a bioterrorism attack like spreading Coronavirus droplets all over a city?
