A (Traveling) Day in the Life of a Drone Pilot – Essential Worker Edition

In this video, Taylor Mitcham will be showing you a day in the life of a professional drone pilot. She is traveling from one job site to another, as an essential worker, during the covid-19 pandemic.

Unfortunately, she can’t take you on an actual job site while doing commercial drone inspection work, but hopefully this behind the scenes footage provides more insight into what it’s like as a career drone pilot.

I’m just now getting into this, and strongly thinking about trying to actually get a drone and starting the drone journey, so please forgive me for asking a stupid question, but I get why you can’t show the client or their location, but why can’t you show the sensors and stuff on the dtone? I mean, it’s part of the drone itself and doesn’t have any baring on the client, or does it?

Nice video. I enjoyed it and appreciate the hardwork and effort. Nice b-roll! Lol. I know the trip up to the room took like 5 times longer filming all that.

  21. iabrochium on October 2, 2021 at 8:05 am

I’m curious about your inventory checklist and pre-check setup with the drone and remote. Is this mandated by the company you work for, or something you personally implement? Also, do you do the inventory checklist every time you arrive at a new hotel, or after every day on the job? Thanks so much, I am loving your channel.

  22. El Ociofilo on October 2, 2021 at 8:06 am

Like the idea of the video, but i want to know whatโ€™s on all the cases. Cause you only showed one. So itโ€™ll be nice to have a video โ€œcase tourโ€ or something like that so we can see and understand why so many cases and boxes.

  23. sniper1958 on October 2, 2021 at 8:07 am

Taylor if you are ever in the DFW area let me know. Perhaps I can shadow you since I’m just starting out in the aerial drone business.

Love your videos. But why are you having to unload your things from the car? Shouldn’t the hotel be doing that for you?

  48. DrNyokc on October 2, 2021 at 8:37 am

Hey Taylor !! Great job !!! I use to work in the oil field and lived out of Hotels so I was cracking up when you were showing those videos of the room as to how small and limited some of them are !!! LOL…. WOW YOUR DRONE IS NO JOKE !!! Looking to start with Mapping or something along the line of what you are currently doing…. trying to see what i will be getting into … QUESTION:….. I watched a prior video where you mentioned about getting licensed to be a surveyor for mapping but can you not provide the service TO the surveyor without needing to be licensed ??? or do you have to wait 4 years to actually do Mapping so you can get your license ?? Thanks AGAIN … this video brings back memories of hotel living lol
