A look at Nato's new spy drones – BBC News

The Nato military alliance has just received its first cutting-edge spy drones called Global Hawks.

They’ll help commanders on the ground identify potential threats to Nato members – with one single drone able to watch over a territory the size of Poland.

BBC defence correspondent Jonathan Beale has been given an exclusive look at the new unmanned aircraft.

Much cheaper to use agents making 5 figure salaries. Must be fun blowing these hundred million dollar drones out of the sky, bleeding the united states empire. One of these guys is worth tens of thousands of soldiers.

What was happening in Crimea? Maybe that there are only Russian people living there but its Ucranian territory so the Ucranian armed forced were wiping out civilians and Russia send the army to stop that?

  32. Paul Spencer on July 11, 2021 at 12:17 am

Nice, but expensive – $200 million..!
Of much better value is the Gem-7 UAV.
The Gem-7 has a 13m span, with a 35 hour endurance, but only a $2 million price tag (fully fitted with optics).
Is the Hawk really worth 100 Gem-7s?

  43. Rhys Hughes on July 11, 2021 at 12:36 am

Hmmmm the term "organic intelligence " for a remote controlled surveillance system already sounds like it’s been though a sanitising process not unlike "Surgical strike" before this meat drone was trained to use it.

  44. Lee Hansen on July 11, 2021 at 12:37 am

The value of the drone is not the drone but the advance servaliance equipment on board!
The ship Pueblo was attacked & seized by red China when it was monitoring that country! The Pueblo was out 12 miles, or in international waters but China attacked anyway! I believe Jimmy Carter was the Coward in Chief at that time!
With these drones, no one killed & most of them are never detected!
The F – 117 is completely stealth & can fly over most countries UNDETECTED even during a conflict!
If you love peace, prepare for war!

  45. UBI Guy on July 11, 2021 at 12:38 am

A drone owned and operated by NATO will always be better than a drone owned and operated by the US or another country

  46. Daniel fire trucks VIP on July 11, 2021 at 12:38 am
