2019 DRL @Allianz World Championship Season Overview

2019 DRL @Allianz World Championship Season Overview

What a year! We were able to race in epic stadiums and arenas in 2019. There was a lot of speed, a lot of close finishes, and a lot of crashes. We were also proud to bring DRL to our biggest live audience ever at Chase Field in Phoenix, AZ.

We hope you continue this journey with us in bringing drone racing to the masses as 2020 will be our biggest year yet.

DRL is the premiere professional race series for FPV drone racing. The Drone Racing League brings the world’s best pilots together to fly the custom designed, newly released “DRL Racer 4” drone to race head-to-head through world class 3D courses in iconic locations. Drone Racing is the sport of the future. For more on the races, crashes, and competition: www.thedroneracingleague.com.

Seems like he needs to learn some decorum.

  4. JN 2002 on May 2, 2021 at 2:08 am

Vanover is a great comeback pilot!

  5. Jonathan Pease on May 2, 2021 at 2:08 am

38:20 man you said you’re from South and you have to be humble when you beat others…..so Vanny doesn’t appreciate that…and you seem not to be that kind of guy…

  9. Koi on May 2, 2021 at 2:10 am

Hello! Could someone please explain what the word "heat" means in this context? im in a group project for where we have to research about this sport

  10. savagex466 on May 2, 2021 at 2:10 am

You guys see a sport ? I see a war. This sound will spread fear within and without.

  12. Paul Waldin on May 2, 2021 at 2:11 am

Totally exciting, this show put me though all my emotions, this is how racing should be…everybody with the same racing equipment, make it about the pilot, driver, rider and sailors skill. brilliant watch!

  13. javelina100 on May 2, 2021 at 2:11 am

The 2020 live event has no live view. It has all been reduced to a video game look. Not like this event. Essentially, for 2020 you are watching an animated virtual stadium and track. It’s like watching Tron. It’s garbage.

  14. DoubleDeeGee FPV on May 2, 2021 at 2:12 am

Really wanted to love DRL but my god you’ve Americanised this to the point where it’s so cringe I can’t watch your trying to make racing into a drama it’s so bad. It’s about racing drones not who’s gonna get threw to love island.

  15. Chazpoult on May 2, 2021 at 2:12 am

Not gonna lie vanover is very cringe

  16. Olusegun Confort on May 2, 2021 at 2:14 am

What type of drone are they using?

  17. Brad Champion on May 2, 2021 at 2:18 am

This is where the 🇺🇸United States Space Force🇺🇸 will get their Pilots from! 🇺🇸Good Job!! ⭐Captain Vanover⭐🇺🇸🛸🛸🛸🛸

  18. DISSENDAT on May 2, 2021 at 2:18 am

More videos like this please. I watch on Twitter but with the low resolution it is hard to distinguish between the different drones. Thanks for uploading.

  19. Bengoddard75 on May 2, 2021 at 2:19 am

They’re all annoying screaming but it was really good to watch

  20. Barry H. Kim M. on May 2, 2021 at 2:21 am

Now they fly "virtual versions" of the real drones? Boring and that is why the sport is now dead.

  21. JoJoLaPompa on May 2, 2021 at 2:24 am

these drones sound better than F1 cars these day ! Very entertaining show !

  22. Sawyer Nelson on May 2, 2021 at 2:24 am

24:35 The look on Vanover’s face lmoa.

  23. Per Erik Grønvik on May 2, 2021 at 2:26 am

Is blinking leds an advantage? I mean the battery should have more voltage to play with while the led’s are of. Will we se a evolution where alle the drones start blinking.

  24. Jack's Hobbies on May 2, 2021 at 2:28 am

This sounds more like F1 than F1 does…

  25. KraveHD on May 2, 2021 at 2:29 am

Why does this look like a mobile game that will give you an add after every race

  26. Jan Besandre Amo on May 2, 2021 at 2:29 am

Nubb: I came from the South and you have to be humble.

    *wins a race

    Nubb: SCREAAAAMS

Why is this the only season overview… could we get this but for all the other seasons? (I’m just interested in the physical races, but yea).
This was great watching. Could even stretch it out into a 2 hour show. But this is the only one, sadly. I think the other season races are on twitter, if one can find them, in the form of livestreams, but the viewing can be pretty rough, unfortunately. Plus it’s not condensed enough. I really like the overview here.
Super sad to see the actual content of other seasons not on this channel. SOOO many people are just too confused as to how to actually watch the sport, which is terrible. It should be accessible online at any time. Not sure if this is some shitty contract thing with the companies airing the content or what. Really unfortunate and is surely halting the sport big time.

If the contracts don’t allow for it in relation to earlier seasons, then hopefully we can get videos like this, for future seasons. Also seeing each race would be great, maybe some set amount of time after it first airs elsewhere (a post production version is what I’d most want to see). This really needs to be part of the contracts or whatever. Otherwise it’s just ridiculous.

  34. Wales Wideman on May 2, 2021 at 2:41 am

    What’s up with 2020 and 2021?

  35. Robs Channel on May 2, 2021 at 2:42 am

Why is vannover constantly starting from podium 1? He won so much by split seconds where he would have lost on podium 6.. or is that a camera issue ?

  36. Siberius Wolf on May 2, 2021 at 2:43 am

    That was awesome.
So in one of the later tournaments, Vanover comes 1st with record pace beating times 3 times in a row, and then because he crashes on the single last round, he ends up coming 3rd and Gab takes it. I understand that’s generally racing for ya, but how annoying is that, for the viewers and the top competitors.
I like the points system, like what they’re doing for the overall season points. That applied to each competition in the season, would be better I think. Especially where crashes are so easy to occur, that just ruin everything. When it’s done this way, the best flyer (shown by how many times they win or place higher, in that very tournament), probably often don’t win the tournament, because they screwed up at the wrong time, despite clearly being the best and maybe ever screwing up far less than everyone else, when factoring in all the rounds.

The final tally for the season is more fair, but it’s still not representative, because it doesn’t factor in how many rounds you won in a tournament (which could way way more than anyone else).
At least this is my current understanding of it.

Orrrr, maybe the fastest competitors are intentionally being a bit conservative so as to not wipe out, and then only push it extra hard at the end when they can’t just coast through in a position that is less than 1st, and Vanover pushed it too hard and GAB707’s consistency won him the race, with a bit of fortunate circumstances involved.
So it wouldn’t necessarily be that Vanover is just consistently better, as much as GAB707 somewhat allowing Vanover to potentially place higher, so as to play it more safe when he can afford to.

Seems they are pretty much always going all out, though, so I dunno how much validity this holds! and GAB707 did seem unhappy each time he didn’t place first in a round, which communicates that he is liking going pretty much all out in each round and it’s not enough. In the last round, Vanover was still in front, though maybe he was pushing it even harder.
GAB707 was also getting very concerned and unhappy with Vanover’s race times, too, which implies that GAB707 already didn’t think he could do a faster time, since he was likely already trying to do so, which explains his emotions.

MAYBE! what would I know. This stuff looks real cool either way. Just want to be able to access all the races on this youtube channel, and I’m a VERY happy camper. Or even a PPV situation, just give the fans an easy way to see the stuff. Or negotiate a way to publish the actual races on here, some time after the event first airs. Hopefully that is what happened with the 2019 overview here. Hopefully we will see more of this.

  37. Rin Shenso on May 2, 2021 at 2:44 am
