As soon as one comes available here in Australia I’ll be buying one for sure ticks all boxes for me 👍
Scott Manley
,give away a drone to your subs
It has failed my two requirement, GPS Follow and not being able to fit legal strobe light to extend Vlos, and keep it under 250g. There seems to be no interest in testing this drone for Vlos, flying the drone under trees to break LOS. As I record and view everything in 1080P, limit of my eyesight, my computer can handle 1080P with no problems. As you say, it’s not what what you have got, but how you use it.
Very simple, if you are a commercial drone operator in the uk and want to fly with much less restrictions and paperwork. Then this is the best option to have either as a Jack of all trades or when you can’t fly in close range with the mavic 3
Added with firmware 10 bit video (D-Cinelike) now it’s even BETTER! The price is great!
Great video! I am a hobbyist, but I agree, the “pro” label is too strong for this drone 🙂 I was thinking of going up to a more pro drone from the mini 2, but air2s has issues and mini 3 is not enough for me given the shortcomings that you pointed out for the price tag that it comes with. The controller has 700 nits, which is less than the 800 on the iPhone 12 and 1000-1200 on the 13, which makes it actually inferior to the iPhone in terms of brightness, so that’s a pass for me 🙂 regulations can definitely be a concern especially when traveling to the EU, so it might make sense to have it in your back pocket in addition to a real pro drone, but for now, I am sticking to the mini 2 🙂
I think they did not add side obstacle sensing as it might exceed the 249g limit so I think after such reviews like this they will find a way to do it..
DJI knew how to bake the perfect sub-250 gram cake after every drone maker from Autel to Zino (Hubsan) came gunning for this market. Hubsan came closest, with the kitchensink Zino Mini Pro; showing just how difficult "having it all" without compromise is. DJI even hedged their bet with a Plus Battery, thar breaks character by going over the weight spec. Still the irony of this looking like their crowning achievement, and not the trouble plagued Mavic 3? 🙄
very objective review, thanks. liked & subscribed.
Fair and balanced analysis! For me, the sub-250g category and what that allows is worth all the compromises mentioned (while we wait for the properly C-classified drones to come out at some point eventually)
Would you recommend it for a beginner drone flyer to start out with or a better suggestion for a new person flying drones ? I do like the rc console that using phone .
Another great video Stewart, I recognise a few of your locations from when I was back in Scotland 🏴 I’m a huge fan of the mini 2 but have definitely found it’s limitations in lower light and the upward tilt on the gimbal.
Living in Ireland it’s hard to go back to a 250g drone …struggled so much with wind an the air 2s changed all that
Good points, particularly the last. I’m still tempted to upgrade from my Mavic Air, though. I’m purely a still photographer.
I just sold my P4P advance for the mini 3. For me it was the size and portability. Having just come from a vacation and traveling with my drone it was awesome and a nuance at the same time. Also in Canada getting your license is a pain in the butt. Again size matters lol. Also I found the picture of my drone to that of a mini 2 was quite good so the better camera on the mini 3 was good for me. Although I don’t have it yet, I know I’ll be happy with it. Thanks for your review
Hi Stewart and Alina. Thanks for the reply. Not sure how to ‘inbox’ you? A prize eh? Exciting 😀 Thanks Paul
Valuable information thanks
Loved watching the reviews and video. Can you please suggest as a beginning should my first drone be mini 3 pro or air2s ?
Still on the original Mavic Pro and not planning to change anytime soon. Regardless, appreciate the new tech that DJI rolls out from time to time.
I’m on the fence with the Mini 3. I have an Air 2S and a Mini 2, but having an improved camera (compared to the Mini 2) and still under 250g does have an appeal. I’m in the UK so the restrictions on the Air2S mean I’m flying the Mini2 more. Thank you for the video.
deffo for me im a fair weather flyer. so now i have the mini 3 is perfect
I’m not taking advice from someone who climbs mountains in jeans lmao
What a whopper
Great and informative video thanks
Excellent Video, you really tell the truth and you are the only one not sponsored, all the other sponsored reviewers just talk about the good stuff of this new drone. Thanks for being honest!!!
The places I go are only getting windier these days. Like this drone but I will be sticking with the Mavic 3
The ability to fly this little beast where I cannot with over 249gm RPAS ,such as my Mavic 2Pro, is a game changer !
Awesome info 👍 cheers!
You can’t compare the mini 3 pro to the mavic 3 pro. Different leagues, you know what to expect when you choose either
Always terrific and sound advice, thank you for your video Stewart.
Do i need filters if i have a variable aperture?
I saw a wind test video with extreme winds where it had no problems at all… So I would say most dont need to worry
And these are very nitpicky points and comparing it to a mavic 3 which is a whole different weight and price league doesnt really make sense. It has advantages over an Air2S and the weight alone makes it very interesting
Can someone tell me if I should continue making drone videos ! Thanks 🙏🏽
The company I work for has a Phantom Pro+. I’m looking to upgrade, but not sure between mini Pro 3, Air 2s, or mavic 3. I mainly use the drone on travel trips, and usually have a very short window to capture footage between locations. The Phantom is a pain in the butt because it’s so big, costs extra baggage fees, have to remove props every time I pack it up, and just feels out dated. I need to get “pro” video and photos, but need something easy to travel with, capable of getting great footage without a lot of time spent dialing it in, and I’m getting a lot of requests for vertical footage too. I’m thinking the mini pro 3 will meet all those criteria. Just concerned about the fixed aperture, as I won’t have time to swap out nd filters. I have my license, so the weight is not an issue, other than traveling with it. What would you recommend?

Good video again Stewart thank you
Awesome review! I think it’s very important for people to remember the "wind" factor. A lot of creators show wind videos with leaf blowers and such, but if your drone is 300 feet in the air and can’t make it back or gets blown 5 miles downwind, then you realize it’s still just a mini drone. I upgraded from the original mini to the Air 2S for this reason alone. Then watch, DJI will probably come out with the Mini 3s Pro in about 6 months and the influencers will tell us how much better it is than the Mini 3 Pro. lol
Excellent video and very considered opinions too.
Excellent Review Video, and Excellent Points To Take Into Consideration. Thank You For Your Honesty.
How about a full review of the autel evo nano plus and a comparison to the mini 3 sir?
I’m just a hobbiest so cost is a consideration. An Air2s is a bit above my budget amd is probably more drone than I need. However, I see I can purchase an Air2 in US for $300.00 less. Is it worth it to go for older tech and save some money given my needs?? I do like the integrated nature of the RC1 on the mini pro 3 though. Thanks.
Hi Stewart
The Mini3 Pro is a drone for advanced hobbyist that want to remain sub250gr or for profissionals that what a small back up drone to complement a heavier drone like the M2P or the M3.
The A2s is the best drone for an advanced hobbyist but it comes with regulatory constraints that may hinder its utilization by a hobbyist. When the A2s has the C class marking, possibly a C1 class, it can avoid the existing regulatory constraints and fly in Subcategory A1.
For me the ideal drone would be a sub250gr drone with the A2s specs because I also want to use my drone as a travel drone and many countries restrict foreigners to fly only sub250gr drones.
The Mini3 Pro comes close to my ideal drone and that’s why I bought it with the DJI RC plus the FMK.
I still have my 2,5 yo Mini1, I flew it regulary and I intent to keep it with the Mini3 Pro.
Greetings Stewart nice review! Like you I’m fascinated with the smaller tech, however, I am still waiting on the Inspire 3 release. I have 2 Inspire 2 drones that I am struggling to find good usable batteries for. I don’t want to buy the Inspire 2 just to find out that Dji is no longer making batteries for it too. Keep up with the great content thanks!
Thank you for the really informative video. Mavic 2 Zoom owner here. Novice pilot. Was seriously considering selling my M2ZOOM and replacing it with the Mini3Pro. I’m a cyclist so the Mini3Pro is more portable and if I can source the extended battery from Asia (I’m in SW France) it’ll open up new possibilities with longer flight times. There’s often lots of wind here so about concerned about Mini3Pro ability to handle/fly in the wind
when only for holidays, a drone license is a waste of your money so 250g. is important for lots and lots of people
Can you override dji height restriction? Reason disability, can no longer climb but want to fly the drone up hills I used ascend easily.
Thank you Stewart for the great analysis. I have the Air 2s, and it works great for me. The only reason for a Mini 3 would be if I ever travel again, but I’d just lose it in a tree or the ocean.
Nice video 👍 , liked & subscribed, thanks for sharing ‼️
Nice vid Stewart, very balanced and honest as usual.
I impulse bought the Mini 3 as soon as the promo ad from DJI appeared in my inbox and I’ve been withering about it ever since.
Luckily it’s not yet been shipped, so after watching your vid I’ve cancelled the order. Already own the Air 2 and it was purely because of the Mini 3’s size that I went for it – I’m a motorcycle travel channel so portability is key – but with the fly more combo bag and all the bits, it’s not that much smaller than the air 2 anyway 🤷♂️
Appreciate your common sense approach bud 👍
Love your videos however you have an "issue" with your sound recording volume? I have to crank everything up on my latest Laptop set up however your volume is very low???? Cheers
