  19. Bigdawg Hemi on March 1, 2021 at 11:53 pm

Not even gonna lie the only reason I’m looking at drones is because my full time job is photogrammetry and I make maps from aerial photographs and would love to get into taking the imagery as well

  20. TwvinOMG on March 2, 2021 at 12:00 am

I would like to learn more about inspecting with drones and thermal

  21. Christopher Burgess on March 2, 2021 at 12:01 am

Hey Brett! I’m really interested in seeing a video about drone inspections! The reason I’m getting into drone piloting is to open a surveying and inspection firm – I haven’t narrowed down my business plan, right now I’ve just bought an entry level mavic and begun studying for my part 107. I’m sure I’ll need to pick up a more sophisticated piece of equipment down the road. But I’m excited about all the opportunities in this industry!

Sorry to say “Great Video” , but GREAT VIDEO!
You got down to the point fairly quickly. Not a 45 min. video with 5 min. of info. I own a Mavic Air 2, but please give me your take on using a Mavic Pro 2..not the zoom. Thanks..you gained another subscriber.

In Italy, with exception of wedding and in very rare cases for agricolture, none of your brilliant ideas are implementable. I also traied exactly what your showed, but people don’t understand yet the pontenthiality. In other words, I started a market with no customers…

  34. Daryl Davis on March 2, 2021 at 12:11 am

One hang up in registering for the FAA exams is that, for some unexplained reason in the mobile age, FAA have the system coded to accept registration only from desktop computers. Due to space constraints at home, I converted my desktop system to a file server (unRAID) and do all my work on my laptop or phone.

  35. Eric Bravo on March 2, 2021 at 12:11 am

Soon as he said dji phantom…I closed the video.

You probably should have talked on what it takes to make money with your drone. $2,000 is not a reasonable budget. In addition to your Part 107 license here in the US, you also have to license yourself as a business and decide what type of business structure you are going to have. You might have multiple business licenses, I had an LLC which was issued through the state and a local business license from the city I was in. Then you have to have the required insurance. You will probably need a decent sized policy. I would thing a million dollar policy would be the minimum, particularly if you will be flying over people or doing inspections at expensive facilities (i.e. powerlines). If you’re doing weddings you will probably need to have a lawyer draft up liability waivers incase your drone crashes into someone. You are going to have to invest in support equipment as well. If you are getting into mapping or inspections you will have to have a good Lidar unit. You will have to have a GPS base station and rover to get accurate control points. You will probably have to pay to get training as well. Regardless of your business type, you will need a quality computer than can handle the storage and processing. You will need to appropriate software for post processing your drone footage. You will need a medium to deliver the product to the client and make sure it is viewable by the client. You will need an assistant to help you (required by the FAA). At a minimum this person is going to keep people away from you while you are flying. But if you’re into cinematography for example, they may be doing things like pulling focus or controlling the camera while you are flying. If you are surveying or mapping, they might be controlling the payload while you are flying. Then there are the standard business expenses you will have like advertising. To start out realistically a person needs a minimum of $10,000 or more. You can’t just buy a $2,000 drone, get your part 107 and say your in business. Far more to making money with a drone than that.

I’m kinda confused how the wifi works on a drone. My wifi at home loses connection if I go 200 ft away. How does a drone keep connection over a mile away. How does gps work. Does gps cost $$ every month due to a subscription. Which is more reliable?? I’m confused about the wifi and. Gps. Any help very much appreciated

Great video….I actually DO live in Charleston SC..loved seeing that bridge. I’ve had a drone for only a month, but having some photography skills really opens up the potential for earning a few sheckels.
